  • Hello again. This week we have the Victorinox Workchamp. It is large and fairly heavy but it is very useful and capable tool.

    Hi @STORN, The metal file and the wood saw are swapped on mine too. I contacted Victorinox, and that was their answer:
    "Thank you for your E-Mail and for your interest in our pocket knives.
    Your Work Champ 0.8564 is fully functionally and meets today’s production defaults.
    Actually the Work Champ has been planned with the wood saw on the last level. So there exist pictures and knives on the market like this. But shortly after the launch, we decided to swap the wood saw and the metal saw for technical reasons. This way the wood saw receives more space between the scissors and the metal saw. Furthermore it prevents the wood saw from hitting the dividers if used incorrect.
    We wish you to have a good day."

      Hi, and Thank you very much for the answer of this mystery. Because the videos I've seen on the new workchamp are not like mine, and I was just wondering why is that. But now I know thank you again my friend. Cheers

      Actually they are right, wood saw next to scissors gives more space 👍👍

      @@TheStoyanbahchevanov I think they are right, but in a different way. I think the wood saw would be fine on the last level. I also have the Trailmaster and the wood saw is on the last level there too. It doesn't cause any troubles. It doesn't take the full size of the level, so it is fine almost anywhere I guess.
      However... just imagine if the metal file would be at the place of the wood saw. It would be next to the scissors without any spacers. The metal file does occupy almost the whole level. If the metal file would rub to the scissors, that could easily damage it by time. The metal file can rub to the side of the pocket knife, but you can avoid that if you are careful. It would be more difficult with the scissors.
      I like our (the new) design better than one that is advertised on the Victorinox page (the old one). :)

      @@GaborMeszarosName Yes I agree, scissors have more space next to wood saw. And the metal file last tool leaves some markings on the liner on mine. Just when you close it need to be more careful. Cheers.

    7:23 I would not recommend you remove the scales to hammer the knife and fix the play problem. Did you know that your Victorinox knife comes with a lifetime warranty? If you do that, you'll lose the warranty. However, Victorinox can fix that for you if you mail the knife in. They might charge a service fee but it will be insignificant. Just to give you an example, my Workchamp is at Victorinox now to replace its metal saw blade, which dulled after hard use. I'll pay a small fee and have the knife back in perfect condition again in the coming days.

      That's interesting, thank you. I didn't think of that. So far I never had to use Victorinox warranty, I have on Leatherman and Gerber. But I already fixed it, it's going strong. Cheers

    Hi there,
    I think it largely depends on where one's use emphasis lies when choosing between these knives.
    For me, the main emphasis is outdoors, so I don't really have a great need for a full size pliers or a metal file. For that reason my preference is more for the Hercules model, which is one whole layer smaller yet has all the tools except the file and the mini spectacles screwdriver (which I already have from other SAKs). So, that is quite an important saving as it reduces the overall width by almost 20%! I like that!
    For work, home, or in a technical environment, where one comes into contact with appliances and machines, a pliers is very useful and a Swiss Tool is probably more appropriate.
    I hope this is helpful to viewers!
    Cheers mate!

      Yes you are absolutely right. And of course you will get a tool that suits your needs. Small pliers though I think are handy, especially if go fishing while outdoors. I've sold the Workchamp. I think all tools should lock. It's great tool, don't get me wrong, just not for me. I find wave and spirit more useful for me. Thanks for your point of view. Cheers 👍

    Hello. The reason for changing the position of the saw and blade was the blocking mechanism. In older version there was a button on the opposite side to the victorinox logo. It had to be close the blade. Now I think the position of the blade is better because its closer to you if you are right handed. Nice vid. Cheers.

    • @TheStoyanbahchevanov

      Hi. Yes, it's correct. But on my New Workchamp, that is liner lock the metal file and the saw are switched. Check on other videos of a new workchamp and also check on the victorinox website and you will see that the very last tool is the wood saw and next is the metal file and then scissors. On mine the metal file is last tool and then is the wood saw and scissors. This is why I mention that. Hope that was useful. All the best.

    I have around 30 SAKs collected over the years and the Workchamp is the only one I found disappointing. It needs larger pliers and scissors to fit the larger frame, pin and pen slots and a second smaller blade.

      @@arbiter1er The knife, file and saw are slighty larger but all of the other tools are the same as the Swiss Champ. If a larger knife is important to you, look at the Mora knives that are astonishing value.

    Какви са изискванията в кралството към носенето на ножове и съответно санкциите ако си в нарушение?

    • @TheStoyanbahchevanov
      @TheStoyanbahchevanov  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Здравей, доста е затегнато положението. Само 90мм victorinox е легален и ножове с този размер и без заключване на острието. Казват, че и в затвора може да те вкарат. Имаше доста намушкани в Лондон миналата година и бяха настеъхнали много. Ако си в гората или на къмпинг няма проблем, пак стига да не е ниж с размери на мачете😁😁. Също трябва да имаш основателна причина за да носиш по голям нож от разрешеното, или със заключващо острие. Надявам се ти е помогнал отговора.

    The only real problem with Victorinox is their refusal to put an actual penetrating point on their knives.

    I know this is a little over a year old but damn. If the police stop you and they think a tool that thick whould make for a good weapon then the rules are really way, way to strict where you live. Also, I'm from Europe, not the US. We also have stringent rules, but barring the odd exception like that moron in London that think banning knives is an acceptable way to curb knife crime, pocket knives tend to be tolerated.
    Don't get me wrong. These 11mm's have large blades, but unless your going to court or some other place where any sort of blade would be illegal, the police giving you trouble for what is obviously a multitool is messed up.

    • @TheStoyanbahchevanov
      @TheStoyanbahchevanov  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. So far I've been stopped by police twice both in London . Never been asked to be searched, they need a good reason for that or if you look suspicious or else. I don't give them any reason for that. And also you need a good excuse to carry a locking blade. I work as a driver and actually need such a tool with me. But overall the knife law in UK suck😁. The sad thing is that I can have a hammer in my car, and it's considered weapon only if used to try to assault someone, otherwise it is a tool, but not with the knives, it's ridiculous. Stay safe my friend. Cheers.

    The knife isn't as good as the original Wenger version, the excuses you made for carrying it are nonsense, you could do those jobs with a UK legal knife, stay out of trouble and you should have no problem however.

    • @TheStoyanbahchevanov
      @TheStoyanbahchevanov  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, that's true, but I just like the bigger size, locking blade and the shape. Wenger is no more, but back in the day they were more expensive. Even todays Victorinox /Wenger Ranger series is more expensive and larger as well. But it depends what you need in a knife and personal preference. Just ordered today a Victorinox One Alox to check if out. All the best my friend.
