Hey, I don't think creators from melodysheep will see this but I just want to say thank you for this video. Words cannot possibly describe how grateful I am. I watched this video in middle school when I was first introduced to physics and it absolutely blew my mind. How you combined music with these speeches from physicists is truly amazing, and it made a middle schooler who was not performing well academically at school think that "Even I can enjoy the beauty of physics! Maybe physics is not only for smart people". It was then I started paying attention to this subject that I assumed was too challenging for me, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that it changed the course of my life. Years later, I got accepted into an Ivy League school as a physics major. Every time I feel lost or unsure of what I should be doing with my life, I watch this video, and it fills me with purpose and passion. Thank you.
The subject is simple, you just need to be open and imagine that very small items can be in two places at once, or that if you roll a ball down two hills it may end up on the other side of the other hill (Quantum tunnelling). But it is very interesting and highly advisable!
QuoteJava Well... Thats grossly over simplifying Quantum Mechanics and partially wrong. While Quantum tunneling does allow Quantized particles to pass through barriers, they don't exactly exist in two places at once. Taking your example, if you were to roll an electron down between two hills, Quantum Mechanics would not be able to tell you where its end location is. It would give you a range of probabilities that of where it could be and until the result is observed all the infinite possibilities exist simultaneously. Once observed, it collapses into one of the possibilities. It is nice that you are encouraging people to learn more about science, but calling it simple feels a little bit offensive and is rather untrue. It is a highly complex topic that has confused many great minds. Learning and understanding it is no walk in the park as you need to also be well versed in basic mechanics, kinematics, waves phenomenon, atomic and particle physics.

@@skywalker3736 Morgan is a clown. Did we invent God? Morgan, "Yes." So there isn’t a God up in the sky somewhere. We came up with God ourselves. Morgan, "Well, here’s a scientific question: Has anybody ever seen hard evidence? What we get is theories from our earlier prophets. Now, people who think that God invented us think that the Earth can’t be more than 6,000 years old. So I guess it’s a question of belief. My belief system doesn’t support a creator as such, as we can call God, who created us in His/Her/Its image." Would you consider yourself an atheist, or agnostic? Morgan, "It’s a hard question because as I said at the start, I think we invented God. So if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God." --------------- So to dumbass Morgan Freeman "we invented God" who created the universe and gave us the laws of nature. Man can do that, but if that was not stupid enough from Morgan then adds "So if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God." How did we get the creation of the universe, fine-tuning of the universe for life on earth, life from non-life, information for life before and after it began, the laws of nature without a Lawgiver, etc, without God? We have solid evidence that we have NO doubts about that the clear answer is it had to be supernatural. Hoping that the laws of nature will somehow all be proven wrong and that we could have gotten the laws of nature without God, is an absurdity. Many people have such absurd hopes. Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. Just with creation, Morgan can't even get around those laws but loves being a dumbass saying, "We invented God."

This was the first video i ever watched on TH-cam over 10 years back - it showed up on my recommended as it was gaining popularity then. This video inspired a young Hanu to pursue science. I am grateful to you for this. I randomly remembered this video after so long and I'm glad it still exists. This is a core memory.
So addictive ... first saw this a decade ago, yet I still end up watching 20 times whenever I come across it again. Really impressed by the "melody" considering what they had to work with. Also, BRIAN COX 😍😍😍
I remember listening to this song when I was in high school and I was so fascinated by it! Now, 4 years later, I am working with a CERN experiment while writing my thesis and I am about to start graduate studies specialising in particle physics. Still a long way for me to go, but I am so happy to have found my way back to this song that really expresses why I am so fascinated by what I am doing.
I watched this master art first time when I was in high school back in 2012. Back then, I still remember all the passions in science that were destroyed and crushed by my own family who said I would end up jobless. Fast forward almost 10 years later all of them are gone forever and I am now a computer vision engineer. Tonight I suddenly reminded of this song and once now I am listening to it again, it brings me most joys and awakening my buried, crumbled and shattered childhood dream back to live. I think they all passed away for a reason. I will be 26 this August, but for what it's worth, I think I will reset my life to be with something of worthiness. Thank you, Symphony of Science. This is my memory.
Just to log myself. Today I just quit my computer vision engineer job and looking forward to enroll to a good postgraduate degree that would likely take my experience into account and admit me to the programme. I am looking at York PGDip in Astronomy. Also I want my first one to be a distance learning base since I have to do freelancing to pay my bills. But surely it will be a gradual shift from cs to astronomy. Hope to get some astronomy-related jobs after this so I can start saving for MSc and PhD whilst not having to switch back and forth between cs and astronomy.
Another log in. I'm now in preparation for applying to several postgraduate programmes in astronomy and astrophysics. Wish me luck! Of course no one will come wish me. At least not now. lol Anyway, I hope to get in and commence it right this year. *Per aspera ad astra!*
Another log. Well, it seems like York rejected me with the reason of I have no enough related experience. Fine then, I will go on for the Swinburne one. Anyway, I hope I could get into some decent MSc Physics programme after this since it is a Masters by coursework. It's a good idea tho, think of it as a conversion course. Hope I get in this time. *Per aspera ad astra*
Don't give up. I was studying to become a bussiness administrator and at some point, I decided to follow my passion above everyone else. That was 4 years ago. Next summer I'll be a chemist finally. I'm also 26!, go for it.
Don’t worry because he’s now viewing one right now from far away with Carl Sagan with a galaxy rise and galaxy set. Just remember Stephen Hawking’s quote “Although my body is very limited, my mind is free to explore the universe, to go back to the beginning of time and into black holes. There are no limits to the human spirit.”
I'm so glad I got to grow up with these. Really influenced me from a young age and now I'm working towards a degree in astrophysics. Thank you so much Melodysheep
I listened to this piece of beauty yesterday, today i'm a scientist and an investigator. Why am I lying... i'm the same slack guy I have always been...
I went through adolescence listening to this song every few months because of how cool this is. I came back 7 years later and it's even more beautiful because I learned to appreciate quantum mechanics.
The only reason I don't like him in stuff like this, is because he doesn't have a passion for it. He's an actor reading some stuff because he's been paid to, the others were probably just asked to explain some things in their spare time. He doesn't understand it as some of the other people do. Take for example Close and Feynman who were also in this video. There's an obvious joy they get talking about things like this, whereas Morgan just reads it out. While I appreciate that it helps interest people in science, I just think it's better that people who actually understand the subject and actually care about the things they are saying to be the ones explaining things like this, they have the ability to enthuse other people and to fuel the wonder the wonder that physics can bring.
Universe is the most beautiful thing. Its complex intricacy may be elusive and hard to understand and we are on the very beginning of our journey to discover, conceptualise its secrets. It is that which I find marvelously alluring.
Came home the other day and my youngest son, Jared, who is significantly younger than the rest of my children, was at the table doing his homework. I said hello, he said hello. I went to get some iced tea and put my feet up (I'm a chef, I stand all day), and from the table I hear Jared mumbling something as he does his math. So I stroll on over to hear him sing, in a very low voice, "electrons act like waves -- no they don't exactly -- they act like particles -- no they don't exactly..." while doing his algebra. This was one of those "proud dad" moments for me.
I can't imagine the amount of research effort put into making a video like this... I love QM, and this was beautiful... more than anything I could possibly ask for
My hope is that melodysheep's songs about reality become as ingrained in us as the "Conjunction-Junction" and the Electric Company's "1-2-3-4-5.." number song. I'm 40, and I still have to sing a song to remember which months have 30 days, which have 31, and when February has a leap year. I learned it when I was 6. We are very fortunate to have this Symphony of Science tool.
One thing I love about hearing these fantastic men talking about something so complex is their infectious energy. People used to tell me that science was boring. Not if you listen to these men and the passion with which they talk about their craft.
+Buorn Michael Agreed! He loves this stuff... You can tell. But what about Feynman? Look at him kicking back and giggling about not explaining everything! What a boss.
This is the best, heart-touching science song with beautiful melody i have ever heard. Excellent job. Huge respect from a tremendous amount of atoms that has shaped a human-form who is now watching your video.
This is literally and by far and wide the most inspiring video I've came across. I've enjoyed melodysheep for a while but reading the comments is giving my faith in humanity quite the boost. Perfect timing in 2020
Kanye Wests song was released 2 months ago and has 18 million views. This was release 4,5 years ago and only 6 million. I am abhorred by current generation...
***** Scientists in the past were religious because that was all they knew. Everyone was indoctrinated early on. They didn't have nearly as much information as we do now. I grew up in a house with Christianity, but logic never allowed me to believe such fantasies. Now days there is so much information that everyone can make their own choice rather than have it forced on you. Were it not for religion it is a known fact that wed be 500 years ahead in regards to technology. Now with that being said, religion is fine as long as people keep it to themselves and out of the judicial system.
It makes people feel better when they believe they are not completely in control in some cases. It feels nice believing that somewhere, someone is watching over you. Be it a guardian angel, a God, anything. Almost every culture in the world believed in some sort of deity, spirits, or god(s). It doesn't have to be true, but if it makes people feel good, I see no reason to tell them otherwise. Of course, I am talking about the belief in a higher being, not religion. Those two are vastly different in my eyes.
Every single time that I think physics is just a boring subject, I return to this video as a reminder that I have yet discover the beauty of nature. Thank you melodysheep for this masterfully made piece of art !
I have watched this amazing video millions of times. Maybe this video is the reason I got the highest grade in high school chemistry class. Maybe I learned something. :) Greetings from Finland
I love this so much! As I said in another video, it's my new favourite music genre! I think what you do is wonderful, you bring something unique into this world. It is something that I felt is missing, I am overwhelmed by my feelings for this creation. I truly believe that more song about science, philosophy and those intricate sides of the world, should be produced!
My physics teacher played this song before the chapter introducing the formation of matter, which impressed all of my classmates and Instagram followers. Thanks for your effort on this channel and my teacher who called Shing
In quantum physics there are, for example, objects that act like particles and waves depending on whether or not they are observed. To my knowledge that has not been thoroughly explained by science. Is there any dominant theory that explains why the act of observation influences the state of matter? I find the similarity between quantum physics and computing really striking, actually. Light acts like a particle when observed, appearing in specific positions when measured, etc, but it acts like a wave when unobserved, appearing all over the place! That reminds me of how computers handle rendering of visual information. Not everything is rendered at once, only what is being viewed on the screen is rendered at that time, all other objects are just a jumble of information. Rendered on screen = particles. Potential information offscreen = waves. Wonder if we're really in the matrix? :O
Sez The most likely explanation is that we aren't observing them in their true state. That their true state is something we haven't quite conceived of yet, which is in actuality neither wave nor particle. Remember that the quantum world is not in fact compatible with our brains. We do not perceive things on that level. We only theorize that they work the way they do, and test our theories in application.

+Gary Sim nice one... you seriously thought of that despite the seriousness of the video and its terminal impact someone else's life- like me! But nce joke, I actually laughed at it.... Sorry because I did!!!

Now, people who think that God invented us think that the Earth can’t be more than 6,000 years old. So I guess it’s a question of belief. My belief system doesn’t support a creator as such, as we can call God, who created us in His/Her/Its image."
Would you consider yourself an atheist, or agnostic?
Morgan, "It’s a hard question because as I said at the start, I think we invented God. So if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God."
---------------
So to dumbass Morgan Freeman "we invented God" who created the universe and gave us the laws of nature. Man can do that, but if that was not stupid enough from Morgan then adds "So if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God."
How did we get the creation of the universe, fine-tuning of the universe for life on earth, life from non-life, information for life before and after it began, the laws of nature without a Lawgiver, etc, without God?
Of courseee
@Cristi K24 "but I dont start to call people stupid bescuse they dont believe in God."
Clown, you can't even tell a good lie it's so obvious. I gave proof and correct titles. Oh, but you just happened to leave that out.
Likely because your whole dingbat belief system is built on lies and you're slow-minded enough to believe that dung. Bozo, you allah-baba is a joke.

man. it's been years since i've first heard this song and it makes me tear up, gives me chills, or fills me with childlike wonder everytime!
Its been 7 years since I first listenined to it...
I still love it🔥👌
"we need a theory of everything. it's still just beyond our grasp." so hype
The universe is made of...12 particles of matter 4 forces of nature.
This is so catchy, i love it!
Me too.
Do note there are now 17 particles of matter now. Glad this was made back then, i can't imagine 17 being as catchy lol.
hahaha no it wouldn't. Thanks for the information, i didn't know that...
Iolanda Duarte Haha not a prob, i'm a google expert :)
Iolanda Duarte Yep
This was the first video i ever watched on TH-cam over 10 years back - it showed up on my recommended as it was gaining popularity then. This video inspired a young Hanu to pursue science. I am grateful to you for this. I randomly remembered this video after so long and I'm glad it still exists.
This is a core memory.
Richard Feynman is such a character :D
No he's not exactly
So addictive ... first saw this a decade ago, yet I still end up watching 20 times whenever I come across it again. Really impressed by the "melody" considering what they had to work with. Also, BRIAN COX 😍😍😍
Yes! Exactly my experience.
Also, Brian Cox!❤

@TH-cam
That's a wonderful and significant story.
They need to make more song like this. Educational and at the same time fun.
8 years Later i still listen to this masterpiece rip Feynman and Hawkins⭐

I love Physics.
My favorite school subject.
Our world is wonderfully mysterious and detailed.

Vinicius Rocha Yes, indeed. Imagine understanding the universe. Maybe it is too much for the human brain.
work of God.

+Mar Ry the grand architect of the universe ;)
btw; if this is your picture...you're beautiful
At least not now. lol
Anyway, I hope to get in and commence it right this year.
@@mikhailszinsky1895 good luck buddy
Don't give up. I was studying to become a bussiness administrator and at some point, I decided to follow my passion above everyone else. That was 4 years ago. Next summer I'll be a chemist finally. I'm also 26!, go for it.
Whenever I hear this, I get pumped for science.
It saddens me that Stephen Hawking was one year away from viewing a black hole :(
Don’t worry because he’s now viewing one right now from far away with Carl Sagan with a galaxy rise and galaxy set. Just remember Stephen Hawking’s quote “Although my body is very limited, my mind is free to explore the universe, to go back to the beginning of time and into black holes. There are no limits to the human spirit.”
That's a computer generated picture. A CGI crap.

Why cant more songs have lyrics that's about science instead of drugs and sex?
because this is the world we live in now we depend to much on our technology to do anything better
Yes
You re right.more science less drugs and s3c

Because the only thing they care about is drugs and sex.

right?

I went through adolescence listening to this song every few months because of how cool this is. I came back 7 years later and it's even more beautiful because I learned to appreciate quantum mechanics.
Thank you Morgan Freeman! I never REALLY understand anything until Morgan Freeman explains it to me.....
no one can, with his, beautiful, voice
Nelson Mandela is a really good actor.
Wow. Your Music is so different from my taste of music but your songs still bring a tear to my eye. Keep on with your work. You are awesome!

One thing I love about hearing these fantastic men talking about something so complex is their infectious energy. People used to tell me that science was boring. Not if you listen to these men and the passion with which they talk about their craft.

***** not to mention religion.
***** Great discussion. Now, you seem reasonable, let me ask you this. Why does there have to be a supernatural being who created the universe?
It makes people feel better when they believe they are not completely in control in some cases. It feels nice believing that somewhere, someone is watching over you. Be it a guardian angel, a God, anything. Almost every culture in the world believed in some sort of deity, spirits, or god(s). It doesn't have to be true, but if it makes people feel good, I see no reason to tell them otherwise.
Of course, I am talking about the belief in a higher being, not religion. Those two are vastly different in my eyes.
Dr. Richard Feynman is one of my favorites! Thanks for your contributions in physics. You will always be remembered.

Every single time that I think physics is just a boring subject, I return to this video as a reminder that I have yet discover the beauty of nature. Thank you melodysheep for this masterfully made piece of art !

I'll leave you something to imagine
