Very nice Video 👍The Makita hammer grease can also be found as 195127-0. I'm pretty sure that is the same stuff. I can get that pretty cheap, about 3-4 € here in Germany. Useful for fixing smaller machines. They are also included in some Makita service kits.
Is there one of the old power tools, like this, where you have enough parts on the shelf that you could virtually build a brand new tool starting from just having a few of the bigger parts to start from? The shop tour you did recently has had me thinking of those old parts just sitting there ever since I saw that video 😂
I did a full repair and service on the exact same hammer drill blindfolded. And then I woke up. It is frightening watching Dean put this all back together without pictures.
I bid for the exact same drill same year and I got it for 99 pence less than a pound it wasn't working so I pushed the loose spade connector back on and bobs your uncle it's all a game I put my best bid in for £10 and just wait .my jaw has hit the floor many times spit are my favourite I've got four
the chap that owns this drill thingies is one lucky man that you have a stock of older parts on the shelf but must be running short of them soon really nice repair nothing left all new bits and you don't charge an arm and a foot to do is just amazing in itself Cheers
The good ol Bosch drills and hammers are rock solid. Could it have lasted longe than 20 years without failure? Probably. BUT do you want your tool to cost 2x as much and be bulkier and heavier because the components are beefier and higher quality just so it may last 30 years instead of 20 without major repair? When manufacuring tools you have to strike a balance there thats what it comes down to ultimately.
I changed the armature (and brushes of course) on my Spit 335, who is the exact same machine with a speed variator last week, after years of use and abuse... It run so smooth now. What a great tool! Thanks Dean for sharing your knowledge, you are a great professor. Greetings from France.
Watching your videos and hear "give it a try folks" at final I realize I just have to try to repair my expensive Bosch jig saw (which my hired Poles used upside down while cutting firewall sheets). Neither my Ryobi One+ or old AEG can compare to the blue Pro.
23:14 Oh no, Dean's holding a part for more than half a second! Did he forget where it goes? Wait, no, he was just reaching for a greasebrush with his other hand...
Thanks for this Dean, I've been hoping you would do one of these as I have a 2001 one . Fortunately it has only ever had light use and is pretty much redundant now but still in excellent condition and certainly worth a clean out and regrease. The part numbers and video will be a great help Thanks again
Very enjoyable video. I'm grateful you explain exactly what you do as well as the cost of parts, labour and VAT. Too often these are an enigma. Thank you.
But why cant you put armature under the lathe and take out the raised part, also I've saw thousands armature fixed even by hands without lathe. You can even use mini lathe.
Yeah it would work but doesn't last long. The comm bars are attached via glue/polymer underneath. When it overheats, that bit of plastic is destroyed, that's why they raise.
Failing that if you cant get that gresse then birds custard will do, lol :D Thanks for the price breakdown at the end make sense to get them fixed now.
Nice armature tester! Alternative for people not having one of these would be to measure the windings of the armature on resistance with a multimeter set on Ohms and measure the segments on opposite sides to find differences between the windings. Thanks again for the vid and I'm still hating those Bosch c-clips 🤭
I had two of theese growing up, I used them too when i started doing jobs just serviced them from time 2 time till somebody stole them. Indestructible machines
"never read it to be honest" Good god man, were you born with a library of manuals in your head?! 😂 Well impressed by your ability to strip and assemble even the stuff you don't see every day from memory! Nice one
love the diagrams go straight into the bin..... you know your machines Sir, pleasure to watch you at work.
Having old stocks of parts is always the greatest thing for anyone on the mechanics field.
There is not a prayer that I could put that back together in my lifetime!
Record it being stripped down and when putting back play that video in reverse.

That was a thorough, informative, and entertaining video. Thank you!

Loved the video.I wonder why other repairmen are not as thorough as you sir.
I have a question I have a Makita drill that needs a gearbox it’s from 2016. Was wondering if it was worth fixing it isn’t XFD11

Hearing 2003 20 years old is a rough experience 😂
I wish they still included the diagram.. they didn't on the last service kit I ordered
Dean 'Santa' Doherty sounds better than just "deandohertygreaser". Thank you for teaching us and for sharing your knowledge.

Because he's a professional, being paid to do a proper job.

I have 3 of them got out off rubbish bin runs well, but no hammer will take a part and see
Love that your NOS repair parts still come in handy. As always, excellent work!
I do repairs my self, learn a lot from you THANKS!
Still got mine, i will attempt a service after watching this.....
i got 2 nof them in my shed , might have a go servicing great content , cheers Dean
Just wanted to say thanks again Dean!!!!
Did,enjoyed it ,thank you,tim
If one of the connectors in the commutator is higher that means it is loose and when it comes completely out there will be a catastrophic failure.
if one is higher, then the armature is already burnt out, and needs replaced
That growler testing yoke made no sense to me whatsoever….
They have been used as long as there have been armatures.
love it
👍 the old bits of kit seem to go on for ever
Best drill I’ve ever owned, still going and done me proud:)
Not managed to break the 2 that I have, fantastic tool.
Failing that if you cant get that gresse then birds custard will do, lol :D Thanks for the price breakdown at the end make sense to get them fixed now.

Looks exactly the same as when you started the repair!
However, a nice bit of 'magic' to get it working and sounding ten out of ten.
I had two of theese growing up, I used them too when i started doing jobs just serviced them from time 2 time till somebody stole them. Indestructible machines
Dean that should keep it going for another 20 years. What fantastic machinery don't make them like that anymore.
Love how he just throws instructions away like not needed how he knows were they all go bk is beyond me 😂😂
I wish you would include the parts washing that my favorite part seeing it go from dirty to clean
Great video
Thanks!
Another classic fixed, enjoyed the video
How long does it take you from start to finish to do that service.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You’re the boy Dean! Great vid. 👍
I've got one of these drills, best drill I've ever owned.
This was great. Thanks Dean!
Glad you enjoyed it!
