That really surprised me too , probably the biggest twist on the show. Loved that episode. I was starting to get the feeling that something wasn't right with him in the previous episode when they found the dead baby and he said "yo I got a dead baby over here!" Like yelled it to the crowd. 😮

A couple of similar storylines had been done before. NCIS did it and the Rainbow Six Vegas games had 'someone who wants to prove they're actually good at their job doing messed up stuff' storylines.

It was obvious that Stucky was mentally unstable, so it wasn't a surprise to me at all. I was actually glad that he broke and they got rid of him.

One of my favorites is the one from the incel episode where the guy spent 10 years hating women because his crush never called him back after he asked her to prom and then ended up killing her fiancé and raping her. She never called back because he left the message on a wrong number. Imagine a while decade living an angry life over a little mistake.

it's not on this list, but honourable mention goes to the episode with Rebecca De Mornay, who portrayed a character in a wheelchair (UPDATE: "Manipulated", S7 E15).
When Stabler and Benson figured out Tess McKellen (De Mornay) was the culprit, they confront McKellen's husband, who then pushes McKellen in her wheel chair into a pool... only when she eventually swims to the pool side and drags herself out of the pool and onto her feet do we realise she wasn't wheel chair dependant after all and can walk, swim and play victim with the best of them.

You should add the “secret agent” who had two separate lives who ended up murdering his entire family (wife and children) as well as his fiance. It seemed like his wife did it at first and then killed herself but the angle of how the murderer was shot didn’t add up and it was self inflicted. He shot himself to where it wouldn’t kill him after he shot and murdered everyone in his family, including his multiple young children. I can... He leaves for over 10 years, no contact, returns, and Olivia STILL hasn't moved on from him when they make up? Seriously? They also ruined Olivia and Barba's friendship to force Bensler to work.
And - unpopular opinion, maybe - but I feel like Amaro would've been better for her. He was there for her when William Lewis happened, when Stabler wasn't. Stabler's missed too much for a relationship to work out.
It's even just in the way they look at each other - Olivia and Nick cared for each other SO much. They clearly just wanted the best for each other. Liv admitted that she grew more with him in 5 years than the 12 years she'd been with Stabler.
      That's a LOT of time...
THAT'S the sort of relationship you want, too. One where you can build each other up.
Not the one where the person you love doesn't show up for you when you need him the most.
Just my opinion - not trying to start a war!

The whole thing started with Rollins walking Franny Mae, her dog, and meeting William Lewis in the Park. Then the story is developped into this arc. Many bad circumstances leading to Benson is kidnapped in her apartment and nobody worried about her because Cragen gave her a couple of days off. + Cassidy is stucked to his job.
