I feel like the huntsman armor was less meant as a ranged-ability for melee users, than it was intended for people to just not have to really aim while *sniping*. Basically it's meant more for people who wanna take people out quickly w/o having to go for head shots.
The hunters set is meant for bosses and especially those mythical bosses such as fenrir. The damage boost from range is highly effective and the speed will allow you to get back into the buff range.

When you mentioned the Huntsman armor, I want to point out that with a hunter bow and with charged shot, you can one shot about all normal enemies. And strong enemies like zealots or even the legendary animals, will take a bunch of damage without much risk. So if you just stay over 20 meters away and spam charged shot you can take down enemies pretty quick. This is very specific though and might not be a good playstyle for everyone.

Sure you can muscle your way in that game, but for some finesse, you need that set early-on (especially for people who just try to melee everything & then go on videos to comment that they hate the new RPG games, because they aren't Assassins...Loll!)
What do you think of the Mentor of Alamut set? This is the set I regularly use. Stats are: Increase Armor when equipped, and Increase Assassination damage and Stealth damage on successful Assassination. Best part was you get all 5 pieces all at once just from doing a side quest I stumbled upon. Unfortunately, I do not remember where it was, or exactly what the quest was called.
I appreciate the rundown on all these armors. As a “raven” or assassin style player, I was hoping you’d go more in-depth in regards the the 3 main play styles vs just focusing on combat play. I think there are enough of us out here that it wouldn’t necessarily be considered niche.
I know im a year late with this reply but I have to agree with this post. I personally sneak around and try to do everything undetected when I can and only do open combat when forced into it. Been playing that way since ac1 so yeah lol.
Noticed the Fallen Hero set wasn't included....I'd be interested to know where it falls on the teir list. 2 piece increased armor, melee, and ranged; 5 piece getting hit drops an explosive dealing damage and knock back. I made it a point to get it early on and I'm pretty sure it's gonna carry through the whole game.
This is what I've been using and I think it's easily S teir!!! That explosive pulse drops every 10 secs and deals massive damage and knocks enemies to the ground so you can stomp and kill most enemies with just the armor's grenade ability. I had to wear a different helmet because it was making it way to easy!
I just finished the game, finished off the cult, fought the last of the 3 sisters, and got Mjolnir today and whoooooo it feels good. Guess I'll finish off the settlement tomorrow.
I'm struggling with the settlement, I've got three buildings left but I've got no supplies plenty of Raw Materials, and they need upgrades I've built them but they need like 3 of 4 upgrades to finish them and its so hard, I feel like there should be easier ways to get Supplies but hey whatever
My perfect set is 3 piece brigadine and 2 thegn. Looks the best and feels the best for my aggresive play style. Brigadine should be one of the top I think, but every other set you spoke of was spot on!
Also a fan of the berserker, plus it offered the impression of being more nimble, decent Evasion numbers and I feel that it is the lightest of the heavy armor type, thus less impact in stamina, maybe it is just me but that got did for me. Only reason I haven't pushed to the last tier is the Theing Set and Bringandine.
Thanks for review, I will say in defence of Berserker gear. I have it from beginning of the game as bonus for Ultimate. I played all AC games starting from AC II. In most of them I prefer fight and Critical hits to assassination 🤷🏻♂️. Berserker kit WITH CORRECT SET OF RUNES (and most of skills already used), gives me good enough opportunity to solve problems men style - Vikings style! In this kit my Eivor in fight acts like tank with good Armor and Health so it's hard to kill and gives to opponentS great damage and critical hits coming often. Varin's Axe used all time. At Pwr 352 I have 295 Armor 277 HP 87 weight Melee damage 110 In same time assassination damage 164. Which gives me good damage assassination (even more from behind - rune used). Prim weapon attack 152 Stun 178 Spd 56 Crit chance 94 Crit damage 48 Block 140 with Briton shield rune to have fire around. So its restores HP and creates fire.
For those wanting to get any Helix sets and don’t want to use actual money for them then you could always check Reda’s shop daily and get it with Opals, though it may be a slow process to get it, it saves you money.
IMO, playing as an assassin, the magisters set is badass. I usually just go for looks with the armor and I think this one is the best looking for an assassin play through
I’m 2 years late to this. I use the Mentors and Thegns 2 piece as well. Everything you said was how I felt about the lower grade sets. Good stuff thank you.
The Hel's and Niflhiem set have diamond rune slots in ever armor piece, that being said when you have a plethora of good armor runes you can make the Hel's armor atleast to B to maybe A tier and move Niflhiem to an S+ tier
I was rocking Thegn's/Mentor, then switched to Thor's/Mentor in late game paired with Mjolnir and Varin's Axe (with Chained Fury Rune), stacked crit and stun and it's super fun. Great guide!
Excellent guide, as always. I would add that the Berserker set is an early game set, unlocked for most at the very beginning of the game. Therefore I see it normal to be that low tier. Not that it is a bad set, just that it is supposed to be replaced by other sets at some time. Also it looks so cool.
Berserker set was a glitch in this video. Those 2.5-2.5 are like 2 - 8 or 2.5 to 8, I can’t remember but t I have this set. I tried it and it’s not bad. I like Thegn’s because it’s the best for me against Zealots. Also maybe because of the ruins I have or some, not sure but I get over 50% health back from each kill so my ration never drops below 6. The only time my ration goes down to 4 is when fighting a lvl 340 zealot as I’m still in early 200s
I love the Magister's set. You're an assassin, the less you're seen the better, so operating at night is another layer of immersion. The rest are pretty spot-on though.
Honestly not to blow my own horn here but I wasent worried about dying much but I used the huldufolk armor just cause it looked badass, loved the black look and the smoke that comes off it
I mean, yeah the set may not be a good one, but it looks good to me. Remember, this is his opinion and this isn't an online game, so play with the one you like the most. You can even beat the game with the raven's clan armour (the first one you get).
I liked it. Used it for most of mini bosses and zealots. Fights were hard and i generally wasnt able to string together big combos so the flat 15% damage at night was helpful.
Great video thanks! Really explains the benefits of each gear, BUT, played the whole game in my Raven Clan armor, legendary, destroyed my enemies no problem never lost more than 1 health ration.
Man I'm just loving the Amazon Prime Carolingian armor and spear so far. I'm only Power 70 but feel so tanks and overpowered even on Very Hard difficulty. And its FREE!
I claimed it on prime before I actually started the game, I had it when I was PL1 and it has been very helpful. I may change armor at some point but I'm like 65 now and it's nicely upgraded and still good.
Using Niflheimarmour now. So far it's fantastic. Before that I used mixed armour pieces of Theign's armour and Mentor armour set as mentioned in one of Codiac's video. It worked well too. Thank you.... This became one of my favourite channel
I played the game on Berserker and never even paid attention to stats. Used the raven clan armor for most of the game because it looks better than almost every armor in the game, at least to me. Then started using the mentor armor set after the halfway point just because it's the closest to an assassin outfit.(I know the hidden ones armor set exists but I like the blue of the mentor set way more then the green of the hidden ones set)
I dual Excalibur and Mjolnir, swapping right and left hand depending on who I’m battling, and sometimes I swap Mjolnir for Odin’s Spear because it’s fun to dual a great sword and spear 🤷♂️
I know this vid is a bit old but, right now, these are the best gear sets that helix money can buy, if you're going on a more-stealth-less-melee approach: 1) Bear - ISU set 2) Raven - Black Raven set 3) Wolf - Ullr's Hunter set All 3 of them are coming with the divine upgrade on it, so there's less resources to worry about. But, of course, if you like grinding, there might be other useful options around in the game, and we should thank Ubi for that. AC Valhalla is a wonderful game to play!
The good thing is, like he said, the flashier armor is the most niche vs the simple most powerful, so that is why the feature of the blacksmith to change armor/weapon skins of anything is a great tool to have. So for example, I LOVE the look of the Musphaliem armor. The fire and brimstone look is just epic, but I agree, the need to ignite your weapon to get any benefit is just horrendous. Granted, I have gone most of the game without really using any other armor than that set, but now I am utilizing the skin change ability so I can keep my look but utilize better weapons and armor. I am a huge parry user with dual wield two handers. I annihilate enemies, but it would be nice to use better armor.
This Guy's list is atrocious. Hel's Damnation and Draugr should be S tier by far. He's just salty he has to buy them separately. The standard in game armor is boring. Brigandine is vastly overrated as well.
Rations? Why the hell would you waste your money to get a defensive build from the hel’s damnation armor? You want to make a fire build just rely on grit and a few stun kills and you’ll restore every point of health you lose right away with grit alone and the stun kills healing will be just a little insurance and I may agree with you on the draugr set because it actually has an offensive buff that you can combine with the poison/grit healing strengthening you in both offense and defense
You technically don’t even have to buy the Hels armor set I got the whole set and Hel’s Scythe from trading Opals which was totally free.. Hels armor and Scythe easily A/S tier
@@Criminaljustice79 AC 2 is honestly the best one. While obviously the combat is way better in Valhalla, the story just doesn’t compare to AC 2 or even Black Flag
@@Criminaljustice79 But I’m a sucker for a great story so that’s just my opinion. I will say that Valhalla’s story was better than I originally anticipated especially after odyssey
Id put Hel's armor set at least 1 higher at B tier. If you're using a fire build this armor is great. Especially with dual spears and speed increase runes, that health regen is completely insane. But this opinion is probably because I'm using a duel spear fire build and literally just melt everything 🤷
I agree, I would put it in S class. I duel weild the surtr sword and the sepulcher axe with speed runes on the sword and crit chance runes on the axe. I really don't even need the fire strike skill like that and I literally never die on the hardest difficulty
@@slynical4433 I would put it in S tier myself as well but I didnt wanna be "that guy" to say it. I honestly think Hel's armor is the best gear. I dont really care for any "surrounded by number of enemies" perks matter because you hit so hard to begin with. But Kodiak did make some great points and for the most part I agree with this video other then Hel's placement
@@thafutureonline619 i agree, hel armor would keep that stalwart runes active most of the time, while i personally will put thegn on C because parrying barely works on bosses and if you play as an aggressive min-maxing dps in very hard difficulty, i still think it's the coolest looking armor tho
Thanks C. That really explains a lot. I’m going to watch it a few more times to really get the most out of it. But, it will help me finish the game. Again, thank you. Well done, lots of information.
Well, to be niche you have to think of the word niche, and what niche really means and how to use the word niche properly. To some the word niche, might just be a niche itself, but in that niche, that gives niche its beauty among other niche words. Don't make niche in to a niche word, it deserves the respect. Niche on my friend, niche on...
My current algorithm just combined my top searches by providing an informative AC Valhalla tutorial by someone that sounds like Stavros Halkias. 😂 Thank you for this content, btw.
I think you underestimate the fact the the Hel's Damnation set has diamond slots for all the armor pieces, which means you can customize it with the diamond runes that have similar armor effects that are found in other sets.
@@LegacyGamingUS Not the initial release sets. Draugr Armor for example have the same type of rune slots as armor found in game. It was from the Einherjar set onwards that the Helix Shop sets received diamond slots on all armor pieces. The upcoming Gothic set is going to be in the same vein. But to be honest, cosmetics are my primary consideration for Helix shop sets hahaha.
i’m using that set with a dagger in main hand and hidden blade secondary, with advanced rune increasing crit chance the lighter you are and let me tell you IT IS SWEET
@@sambriers6150 the point stands regardless. The “it’s his opinion” defense would only hold water if the rankings were based on specific builds rather than generalities.
Agree on mixing two armor sets - currently mixing mentor and brigandine, but looking to replace the brigandine with the jormungandr armor set from Reda - Increase damage taken by 25%. Increase melee damage +65 when equipped ^^ Additional increase to +10 attack when equipped 5/5
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the change appearance option when visiting Gunnar. For very low silver you can change the appearance of any armor to the set that’s your favorite looking while keeping the buffs and special attributes of your most powerful armor. That way you can wear any armor you want!
i got the theigns armor 9hrs into the game with some risky sneaking and have not changed armors since. really good armor without having to purchase anything in the store.
Gothic set is best imo, though it's locked behind helix credits...still , if you have to buy anything out of the store I'd recommend this set. You basically become unkillable, especially in large groups of enemies, as you gain health back with each kill. The other perk is just an overall increase to armor (can't remember how much), which makes you tankier. Also works well as an elite killer set, all you have to do if you run low on health is just kill a random anything (i.e. a rabbit, deer, fox, other wildlife...) and you get health back to keep you topped off. Really saves on ration usage too.
I've been using the 'Mentor of Alamut" armor set. Is that new? Wolf set, increases assassination and increased my armor set by 50 POINTS. My first time through I used the Brigantine set.

I know im a year late with this reply but I have to agree with this post. I personally sneak around and try to do everything undetected when I can and only do open combat when forced into it. Been playing that way since ac1 so yeah lol.
@@KentuckyJoe Nice! I’ve played since AC2, and it’s one of my favorite franchises. Can’t wait for Mirage!
Tbh I played the entire game with the raven set xD
Noticed the Fallen Hero set wasn't included....I'd be interested to know where it falls on the teir list. 2 piece increased armor, melee, and ranged; 5 piece getting hit drops an explosive dealing damage and knock back. I made it a point to get it early on and I'm pretty sure it's gonna carry through the whole game.
Same
This is what I've been using and I think it's easily S teir!!! That explosive pulse drops every 10 secs and deals massive damage and knocks enemies to the ground so you can stomp and kill most enemies with just the armor's grenade ability. I had to wear a different helmet because it was making it way to easy!
The fallen hero set is the best in the game, by far
I always wear the Thegn's armour but with the helmet hidden. And I totally love the berserk Set.
I just finished the game, finished off the cult, fought the last of the 3 sisters, and got Mjolnir today and whoooooo it feels good. Guess I'll finish off the settlement tomorrow.
im prob not more then 1/3 of the way and im finna be lvl 5 settlement but ive raided all the places that are my level so ive had to stop
I love this game so much I've played through it 3x now and gotten over 300 all 3 times
I use the berserker
Armor because that helm, I swear, looks badass
True that 💪🏽 too bad the Thor Amor set doesn’t look more traditional except for the helmet which equally as badass as the berserker
@@chiefgonzo9058yup I agree.
Really hoping transmog comes soon, so I can use the Berserker look with a better armor set, either the Yule set or the Brigantine set.
@@65firered that would be amazing.
At Pwr 352 I have
295 Armor
277 HP
87 weight
Melee damage 110
In same time assassination damage 164. Which gives me good damage assassination (even more from behind - rune used).
Prim weapon attack 152
Stun 178
Spd 56
Crit chance 94
Crit damage 48
Block 140 with Briton shield rune to have fire around. So its restores HP and creates fire.
I’m rocking the full Thegn armor set, when you said you combined them with the mentor set my mind went 🤯 you earned the subb
You forgot the gothic set, which gives you health buffs after every kill and set bonus of extra armor.
This was made before that set came out

The Hel's and Niflhiem set have diamond rune slots in ever armor piece, that being said when you have a plethora of good armor runes you can make the Hel's armor atleast to B to maybe A tier and move Niflhiem to an S+ tier
also applies to einherjar armor, so you can mix 2 and 2 and go crazy
Love your content dude. Keep it coming 🤘🏻
The thegn/mentor combo is ridiculously good
It really is. Thank god it’s not a paid set.
What parts of the body do you put both sets on? and what weapons work best for it?

You mean that *flail* from *helheim*
In that case, I agree
Man he sure loves the word niche, doesn’t he? lol. Good video though and thanks for taking the time to put this together.
I was rocking Thegn's/Mentor, then switched to Thor's/Mentor in late game paired with Mjolnir and Varin's Axe (with Chained Fury Rune), stacked crit and stun and it's super fun. Great guide!
Just started playing it. I'm using the Twilight pack, at first I didn't like it due to looking very unrealistic but now I'm loving it.
Excellent guide, as always. I would add that the Berserker set is an early game set, unlocked for most at the very beginning of the game. Therefore I see it normal to be that low tier. Not that it is a bad set, just that it is supposed to be replaced by other sets at some time. Also it looks so cool.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
This helped me so much. I have a combo of Theign set and Mentor set and it is awesome!!! Thank you!!!
I love the Magister's set. You're an assassin, the less you're seen the better, so operating at night is another layer of immersion. The rest are pretty spot-on though.
Yeah but magister cloak looks pretty bad in my opinion imagine if magister's armor with only Hood how awesome would be that
@@ArcticHaze45 Yeah it's not the most pleasing to look at but I really do like its bonuses. You're definitely right though.
Great description. I like the order you displayed the items (F-S) in this video more than the melee and bows.
15:27 and you can get the thegns set really early on like I got it at 80 power.
I got like level 20 it took a while but it’s sooooo op I’m level 180 now and still using it
Honestly not to blow my own horn here but I wasent worried about dying much but I used the huldufolk armor just cause it looked badass, loved the black look and the smoke that comes off it
With the new rune (increase stun after each hit) with Thor’s set and hammer is op! I’ll stun groups of enemies easily!
Where do I find this rune, is it just luck? I have all of the Thor set (except for the cloak) if required.
Correct
Glad I found your channel. Thanks for these videos
Me: spends about an hour looking for the magisters armor,
Watches this vid,
“Well I’ve wasted my time here”
I mean, yeah the set may not be a good one, but it looks good to me.
Same for me with hidden ones armour
I get it by accident
Great video thanks! Really explains the benefits of each gear, BUT, played the whole game in my Raven Clan armor, legendary, destroyed my enemies no problem never lost more than 1 health ration.
Man I'm just loving the Amazon Prime Carolingian armor and spear so far. I'm only Power 70 but feel so tanks and overpowered even on Very Hard difficulty. And its FREE!
Im coming up 60hrs & still haven’t taken it off. But I think that’s more down to not coming across anything else as they’re a bit limited
Its awesome!
when u got it its already mythical, bit too upgraded on that part of the game, but yes,the bonuses is good too
wish they didn't put a cross on it though. It makes it look like you're a Templar when you're not.
I swear by the Beserker set. Idk it’s amazing.
I like using Thor’s armor because it has really good protection 🤷♂️
I use it for the helmet 👌🏻
What runes do you use on thors armor, and what weapons do you use?
Me likie for Thor hammer
I use Einherjar just cause the perk is too good.
I dual Excalibur and Mjolnir, swapping right and left hand depending on who I’m battling, and sometimes I swap Mjolnir for Odin’s Spear because it’s fun to dual a great sword and spear 🤷♂️
I know this vid is a bit old but, right now, these are the best gear sets that helix money can buy, if you're going on a more-stealth-less-melee approach:
1) Bear - ISU set
2) Raven - Black Raven set
3) Wolf - Ullr's Hunter set
All 3 of them are coming with the divine upgrade on it, so there's less resources to worry about. But, of course, if you like grinding, there might be other useful options around in the game, and we should thank Ubi for that. AC Valhalla is a wonderful game to play!
I finished the game with the Berserker armor at 100% on maximum difficulty just because I liked the way it looked.
You can transmog it.
The Hels damnation armor with double spears and ability is absolutely insane, you wont have to use rations anymore
@@ImperatorCaesar1 fr, i've been using draugr for the last few weeks and its absolutely OP if you pick your skills right
Buying armors is a shit thing to do.
You technically don’t even have to buy the Hels armor set I got the whole set and Hel’s Scythe from trading Opals which was totally free.. Hels armor and Scythe easily A/S tier
That was a very good video. I wondered for my play style. Thank you!
PS I'm the player with the Raven Clan everything at over 150 hours.

@@austinv-ec1wd which one would you consider the best one?
@@Criminaljustice79 AC 2 is honestly the best one. While obviously the combat is way better in Valhalla, the story just doesn’t compare to AC 2 or even Black Flag

Been tempted to get the Valkyrie set because it looks badass to me. LOL. Not gonna do it anymore. Glad I saw this video!! Thank you for making it.
I think I heard the word niche more in this video than I have in my 22 years on this world
Well, to be niche you have to think of the word niche, and what niche really means and how to use the word niche properly.
Thank you for this content, btw.
Is St. George’s armour good?
Only if use use spears and swords in the left hand
I think you underestimate the fact the the Hel's Damnation set has diamond slots for all the armor pieces, which means you can customize it with the diamond runes that have similar armor effects that are found in other sets.
All of the paid sets have Diamond Runes on each piece. It's definitely a game changer and you're right, probably should have factoring in a bit more.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the change appearance option when visiting Gunnar. For very low silver you can change the appearance of any armor to the set that’s your favorite looking while keeping the buffs and special attributes of your most powerful armor. I bought the huldufolk cause it looks totally awesome. The additional increase to speed and armor kinda makes it swift using a dagger
Yes this armor works magic with daggers
Gothic set is best imo, though it's locked behind helix credits...still , if you have to buy anything out of the store I'd recommend this set. You basically become unkillable, especially in large groups of enemies, as you gain health back with each kill. The other perk is just an overall increase to armor (can't remember how much), which makes you tankier. Also works well as an elite killer set, all you have to do if you run low on health is just kill a random anything (i.e. a rabbit, deer, fox, other wildlife...) and you get health back to keep you topped off. Really saves on ration usage too.
Isn’t hel set currently the best end game armor with the right build or am I missing something?
