Could you TAS CarnEvil (Midway, 1998)? It is one of those light gun games that is often said to be impossible to 1CC on the hardest difficulty (and impossible to no miss on normal). I've never seen anyone actually do 1CCs or make a TAS of it at anything above normal though.

Mame had issues with Load/Save states with CHD games. But it seems the latest version is good enough for me to TAS CarnEvil. This game was on my list for a long time. As you suggested, I set the difficulty to Very Hard, but for a TAS that doesn't make much of a difference.
