"WATER RESISTANT" and NOT "WATER PROOF" ... yes it does matter if it falls off your canoe especially if it falls into water salt or fresh !! it won't suffer if you are out in the rain and the occasional droplet falls on it, which is why I keep mine under cover (in a small plastic "tupper like" case) if there is any chance of it getting wet. I own one of these since July 2014 and have already erased the memory once since it was full. Don't make rash statements. For the occasional walker who takes the occasional photo or perhaps the once a year holiday maker taking tourist shots you may be right but YOU DON'T KNOW what the purchaser has in mind for this when he buys it .. and an amateur photographer may well wear it and use it daily in which case it is not going to last more than a few months before you have to erase the data .. mine filled in about 4 months in the middle of a long ride ... so careful what you say and how you say it !! Bad point about this device is that you don't get to see where you are if you are out touring. It's only a logger and not a navigational device.
The i-gotU GT-600 turnes off when it detects no movment, does this mean you have to turn it back on when you start moving again or does it do this automatically?
