I am wondering about something. Why is it that GPS data loggers are more expensive than live GPS trackers? Is it because they have bigger batteries? It seems strange to me because GPS loggers actually have less capabilities.
It's a nice, light, little toy for cyclists and walkers to see their route AFTERWARDS. BUT, the battery is sealed inside. Both of mine died from dead batteries. Replacing the battery is only possible by smashing the unit open with a hammer! They don't seem to work very well after that. ;-)

can the downloaded data be viewed in a tabular format (txt or spreadsheet) ?

Yep, as did mine. Shitty Li_ion batteries always crap out in these cheap devices... had the same thing with key cams etc.
