I own the Coros Apex 42mm and absolutely love it. It’s super easy to use. I didn’t have to spend an entire day reading directions and watching videos on how to use. The battery life is so crazy! I highly recommend for women with small wrist the APEX 42. The other thing I really love is the sapphire glass that comes standard on the watch. I was stoked to see you wearing a Coros watch!
Got the Coros Pace 2 -- they are definitely a beast with battery life. Even with daily (GPS) runs and hikes on the weekend, I get more than 2 weeks before a charge. That's including the every night sleep tracking and 24hr heart rate monitoring.
@@archana310 The Pace 2 does not have a dedicated "walk" or "hike" mode. Though, could still use the GPS Cardio mode for such activities. It'll track the same metrics such as distance, location, elevation, heart beat, power, etc.. And if you integrate with other websites (Strava, etc.), it's easy to change/classify as run/hike.
@@yazidmahdjoub7460 It still is working and battery life is still good running at 2 weeks (with heartbeat sensor turned on 24/7). However, I really want it to die already so I can justify buying the new Pace 3! 😅
Dude you may have just sold me! I’ve been using a Garmin Viviactive3 for the past year. It’s only about $150 and doesn’t have a ton of features. But I will say I can track about 10 hrs of hiking before it dies. Still going strong but might need to upgrade.
My guy! Thanks for this review. This is the first that I have seen for this watch that is targeted for HIKERS. I was leaning towards a Garmin Instinct or Suunto Core but I will give this a try. Thanks again!
This is An often dismissed subject thank u for the presentation. U have a good style. I use Suunto Ambit3 and also the Suunto Traverse for me its the best hiking/backpacking watch ive ever used vs casio and garmin. I send all my tracks and routes from mapping apps or sites to it. Im never changing watches. Links to apps and website for downloands and customization of watch functionality for any trip. Use both for running also.
So when you're through hiking and could be walking 8 to 12 hours a day sometimes 14 and you have to have the GPS on the entire time of the Walk how long does it last year day 2 days 3 Max
Bryce, can you comment on the watch-face durability after 6 mos? Scratches? Glare? After 6 mos. of hike and runs, I'd expect you've got some good feedback? Thanks, and congratulations on the ambassadorship, Terence
no scratches but i dont wear it as a daily. it looks pristine actually. but like i said i dont sleep with it on or anything like that. Cant say i notice a glare either. looks great!
I'm in the market now for a watch. I wish they had topo map ability but the breadcrumb nav looks pretty nice. Will definitely check them out. Thanks for sharing.
Does it need to be connected to a phone for all the futures to work? I find my current watch drains my phone battery when tracking, no good for multi day hikes.
Man those are pretty sweet but I don’t know if I could convince myself to drop the cash for it yet. Definitely would be worth every penny but I think I will stick with the old fashioned way of tracking time and distance for now.
I won't buy an outdoor watch unless it's sapphire crystal. My last watch went through a lot and didn't have a single scratch on the glass. I'm also waiting for Garmin to get their solar panel technology better
Hey Bryce, nice video. I have a Suunto Traverse Alpha. I am able to change the GPS strength per activity I am doing, but when I drop the strength, I notice discrepancies in my hike (missed mileage, etc). My question is how is the accuracy with the watch when tracking and having that much battery life. Also, I am able to drop waypoints when hiking for cool camps spots etc. Is this watch capable of that? I am interested in the battery life alone and wanted to know your thoughts
@@BryceNewbold either being disingenuous or miss informed. You can get the instinct Anware from around $150 used or $200-280 new depending where you buy. I've even seen the the solar for as low as $350 and the fenix 5 is anywhere from $300 used and aslow as 400 new.....all I'm saying is do a review about the watch and the watch alone if you not going to an actual comparison. You can't say I haven't done research on other watches and the compare a garmin watch that may not be a good comparison. Just don't mention another company all together. It come all as disingenuous. Truthfully you sold me on getting the watch. If I find one for a good price I'm most definitely get it but never the less the video come off a disingenuous and paid advertising. There nothing wrong with advertising a product for money. Just give the fact and what true. Now if you truly believe the watch is better or generally comparable then do the comparison. But do it right state you opinion and the pros and cons. Also don't take this as me coming at you(you can if you want idc) it just constructive criticism because we both people to product reviews and it only for the money not genuinely advertising a quality product. This come off a certain way just for future reference.
hey :) just got this watch a few days ago. it's on the latest firmware but my widgets (heart rate, alti, baro data) are presented as column type graphs not line like on ur video. is there a setting option where i can switch to a line graph? little thing, I'm just curious :) thanks!
Now for the really hard question what is the price of that watch and others like it Which watch is better and which watches more waterproof to water resistant I see quite a few videos coming your way
Just can't stand the smooth techy look of most smart watches. Garmin's tactical styles are more my style. Impressive features on this one though, thanks for the vid.
"Just" a few hundred dollars more for a watch isn't appealing to most people. Not sure what makes the pace not a stand alone. It tracks you without a phone or anything else connect. I'd say that's pretty stand alone.
(IMO) You should have EARS,EYES & NOSE on your hike at all times. ESPECIALLY IF YOU GO DEEP IN THE WOODS. So 1 (new) phone with good battery life is plenty enough. Use the extra money on protection!!! Bears, Cougars and Wolves.
I understand this is coros review but that half heart comparison is in my opinion "missleading". And it was just unnecessary. Garmin instinct or some other garmin would have been better comparisons.
I don’t get these watches, my phone in airplane mode last for days, yet i still get use of the gps function. I use Gaia with detailed maps and routes, not some little 1.5 inch circle. I have free altimeter and compass apps, so all set. I have a $5 thermometer hanging on my pack. So then its heartrate, which I’m not training, so not interested. It just seems redundant and expensive. I guess I’m just not the target audience, but they look nice.
These watches aren’t really meant for hiking only. They are meant for runners (road and trail), working out, etc. They are specifically meant for ultra runners because of the long battery life. A lot of runners, like myself, also hike..so it’s nice to have all that data. Plus, I can save battery life on my phone since my watch is tracking the hike. My watch (Garmin Instinct) battery last MUCH longer than my phone if using GPS constantly to track a hike.

Thank you for this video. This is exactly the feature I’ve been looking for!!! Had never heard of this watch until your video and I’m sold ❤
Still running my Garmin Fenix 3HR. Looking to upgrade, soon.

i've looked at those and the new garmin instinct, specially the solar version. that has an insane battery life as well
sounds interesting! Do you use the Garmin instinct for navigation while driving as well?
My 1st gen solar instinct easily will go 25h+ full GPS tracking. Outstanding performance! And now their price is sweet ;)

Thank you
Thank you for showing the video and have yourself a good night dude
Are you still using/recommending this watch? Or have you moved on to a different model?
Garmin Fenix 5 with external temp sensor going strong after five years!
I use the Garmin Vivoactive 4s to track my miles when I run. The only thing it doesn't have is a hiking tracker.

Have u tried a Huawei GT2 / GT3 PRO? 14 days on a charge

Running wise sure but why this watch over gamin fenix 5 or instinct? Sure there will more but if your already paying 200 now why not get those?
Cause they are more than double the cost.
