Am I the only person that actually likes the look of the notch? It gives the machine a little personality, hard to explain. Distinction than your run-of-the-mill generic laptop.

I’ve been using my M1 AIR 16GB and 500gb for 3 months now and I still love it and have had no problems with it, people told me I should wait and buy the new M2 but this has done me just well and it was a lot cheaper than the m2
yupp, there's no reason whatsoever to upgrade unless it's to the 14 or 16 inch pros. the only decision i regret is not getting 512gb on my m1 air, though at least i got 16gb ram
@@syst3ms776 Absolutely hands-down if those are your options, go with the M1 MacBook Air my friend, with 16GB RAM and 512GB or greater storage. You'll run out of RAM quickly at 8GB if you have more than a few productivity apps going and especially lots of web-browser tabs. You should budget 1GB *averaged* per ordinary app in use and if you are a TH-cam buff with lots of YT tabs open, budget half a GB per YT tab open in your web-browser of choice. Just my 2 cents. @@KalikoTrapp 1st & foremost i need 24GB RAM for running a Windows VM with Parallels Desktop. 2nd, i want to be prepared for the next 5 to 6 years & upgrading RAM afterwards won't be possible.
That difference is what imo still makes the M1 Air an absolute deal: at the end of the day 3m42s vs 4m29s is a mere tiny _47 seconds_ difference; even for creators, those seconds are hardly gonna impact the final productivity flow - plus, if the difference is so small even in a massive and heavy project, in normal (or even medium-large) projects there’s gonna be no difference whatsoever.

Great idea, Brighten Day! Best of luck with your content creation. I would highly recommend getting as much RAM as you can afford and then the 512GB storage or above. Probably 1TB is a good long-term option for video creation so you can have a couple of projects on the go and then archive finished projects and assets onto external storage. I would also say go with the 8CPU/8GPU config to keep your price down a bit to pay for the RAM. Just my 2 cents. Aloha.
the power button has touch id in the M1 model as well. they should have face id instead. would be great to just touch any key or the track pad to unlock.

Be honest, you didn't compare M1 and M2 with identical specs, did you? I guess M1 with 8GB, 8-Core CPU as well as GPU and 256 SSD, cause you mentioned " ... we have the M1 with the base ... " but no word whether it's also the base for the M2. So do we also have 8 Gigs and 256 SSD there or the 8-Core CPU, 10-Core GPU and 512 SSD? Otherwise the difference in performance would more than surprise me and also the 35W-charger is a hint for the better one.
Great color, i do like it! Looks similar in effect to my prior black surface laptop2. Definitely a print magnet but could always get a clear cover for it. Since I've already had the pleasure of a nice dark laptop I'd go for the Starlight with this one. I currently sport an M1 Air (space gray)- i don't think i need the upgrade just yet. it’s not the base model, all these TH-camrs are given a MacBook with more specs then the base model from apple for review videos. TH-camrs need to buy there own base model to test and are shipped with everyone else’s.
I have the apple branded midnight black silicone case for my iPhone 13 mini and its an absolute fingerprint magnet. So was kind of expecting the midnight colored air to also be like that. It looks really good while clean though.
Macbook notch is completely brilliant. The problem of thick camera bezels has been solved. Every laptop should adopt this. Windows machines don't even have info at the top as macos does.

Is it possible to get a matte finish metallic material? I think it would be better if Apple made a fingerprint resistant/smudge resistant material. The only Apple product I buy every few years is the iPhone. I currently have the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I think it's cool that now the MacBook Air uses the newer M2 chip. I'm wondering when the iPhone will use the M chip, use USB-C, have Mini LED display, TouchID on the power buttons, etc. They already do those things on their iPad and computers. It's weird they don't do so on the iPhones. They should at least do it with the Pro versions.
Dave2d has shown a dbrand skin of the same colour which looks sick and is finger print free. May be that helps. I didn’t think iPhone will get an M chip. M chips are larger in die size with more RAM. A chips are smaller and they’re more efficient as compared to M chips. After all, M chip is an extension to the A chip.

once you get the 512 gb of storage and 16 gb of ram, you should just upgrade to the 14in. no point in staying with the air at that point

I think I should have waited to get this m2 air for college. It’s very portable. I instead got the 2021 14in m1 pro
