@Tonya Poindexter By saying "They were smart enough to let their music evolve with the crowds," I suppose you mean Kiss understood that to be a success in the music business, you must play the kinds of music people will actually want to listen to, dance to, & buy. As a musical artist begins widening out into other styles of music, I think the things which should never change are the ingredients which make music _authentic:_ creative originality, love, passion, & sincerity. _Authenticity_ is the key, because that is what the Public responds to Ive been playing electric bass & acoustic guitar for 23 years. 7 piece drums for half as long. Kiss appeared on early episodes of The Oprah Show. Oprah asked Gene Simmons how long his tongue was. His reply "Long enough to make me your very closest friend." Oprah went beet red. It was an awesome moment.
Gene Simmons, the bass player for KISS, found a little bar band in L.A. with an amazing guitar player and crazy front man. He decided to help them create a demo tape. That band was called Van Halen. KISS had their fingers on the pulse of the music industry in this era.
Slash also auditioned to replace Ace, but Paul thought he was too young at 17. Paul also apparently introduced Desmond Child, who co-wrote this song with Paul, to Jon Bon Jovi, and they went on to co-write some of Bon Jovi’s biggest hits. They both have a great eye for talent.

Fellas Kiss (stylized as KIϟϟ) is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Known for their face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with shock rock-style live performances, which featured fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnics. The band has gone through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons remaining the only consistent members. The original and best-known lineup consisted of Stanley, Simmons, Frehley, and Criss. Here R the names of the costume makeup, Paul Stanley as Starchild; Gene Simmons as The Demon; Ace Frehley as Space Ace & Peter Criss as Catman. They also perform without their makeup.
I agree! By that point in time "pure" disco was really starting to suck - "Push Push In The Bush" anyone? KISS, Queen, Bad Company, Sweet, and other rock bands who dabbled in danceable music gave the genre a much-needed second wind.
I just LOVE you guys!! Please keep doing this. It gives me life seeing you guys discover songs that have been part of my life for as long as 45 years. I LOVE it!!!!
You guys should see them live. They have one of the best shows. I started going to their concerts in 1982. Saw them last in 2019. I even introduced my children and grandchildren to them. My daughter has been going to their concerts with me since 1998.
This is one of my favs from Kiss. Yes, Kiss is very professional. Gene, who runs the band, is very business savy. Knows his stuff and when certain members of the band got into drugs/alcohol, they were fired. He has built a business empire. I just heard a song I haven't heard in a while you might be interested in. The band is Steelheart and the song is Never Let You go. Some crazy vocals!
70s KISS all the way baby 70s Areosmith 70s Heart 70s ACDC 70s Queen, 70s Van Halen .70s Boston .70s Kansas 70s Cars 70s Police70s Eagles/ 70s ABBA 70s Pink Floyd .70s Rush 70s Deep Purple 70s Led Zeppelin
They even had a TV movie as well as a first person shooter video game made about this band. In the game each band member had special weapons and powers based on the charector
No put yourself in the eighties dancing to this music at a social.. It's nice to see that you young guys bring this stuff back brings back lots of good memorie
I had 3 of their albums back in the day. I was about your ages when this came out. I was in my late 20's when a lady where I worked was desperate to find anything from Kiss to give to her son for his Birthday. I wasn't listening to them much then so I gave them to her for her Son. I thought she was going to cry.
Kiss was my first concert in ‘77. They were the last concert I saw right before the pandemic shut everything down, and the first one when everything opened back up. Rock and Roll All Night, Detroit Rock City are two to bangers and Beth is completely different, but worth the listen! There are so many more songs I could recommend.
This was fun. 🥰 I actually love that song. A lot of kiss fans don’t. But you can’t help but keep singing it. You guys should check out Bob Seger I don’t see on any of your lists that you’ve reacted to him yet. Maybe it’s because you already know who he is? I recommend the song “turn the page”
A lot of Kiss fans are idiots who hopped the disco hate train and subscribe to rock and metal's worst elitist bullshit tendencies. Fuck 'em...And fuck Gene Simmons, but that's neither here nor there.
I can't believe you guys haven't heard this song before! I went and saw them live in September 2022 and had front row tickets. They sure know how to put on a good show. Love this band. ♥
Kiss was an iconic band, who had so many hits. They won numerous awards, and had a cult following. They are in the Rock and Roll hall.of fame. Y'all need to react to some Isley Brothers and some Earth Wind and Fire. Just start out listening to Earth Wind and Fire and The Isley Brothers. You can just pick any song by the two bands listed and it is guaranteed that y'all will enjoy it.
Kiss are real chameleons, they've done all kinds of rock subgenres. From pop-rock, disco-rock like this, old school 70's rock n roll, 80's hair metal, to really heavy stuff
@@metaphoria3 me too, much great stuff. Only wish Crazy Nights and Asylum had way better mixes/production. Basicly no bottom exists. Almost just treble and weak mids. I'm sure there are third party remasters circulating out there though. But really wish Kiss would do new mixes and remaster them again!
I grew up during the time that Kiss was starting and there wasn’t anything like their music at the time. It was a very unique sound. I really like their songs. They never get old to me no matter how many times I hear them.
I loved watching you guys grooving to this song. I remember this song coming out while I was in high school and I was just like you guys the first time I heard this
Their most catchy classics are: Love gun, Detroit Rock City, shout it out loud. Their anthem is "Rock n Roll all Nite". And if you want a ballad go with "Beth". Many people including myself really love their heavier stuff from the albums "Creatures of the Night" and "Lick it Up". My favs.
I happened upon this video on accident but y’all’s reactions are killin me!! I knew y’all were hooked at “RUN THAT BACK!!” and I’m glad y’all enjoy this song! One of my personal favorite KISS songs is Detroit Rock City but once again- I’m glad y’all enjoyed this one! Lol
The same occurred to me, i got here acccidentally. I liked their reaction. It was the same my then 5 or 6 yo son had when listening to this song. He is now 15 and still enjoys this kind of music.
It was the 1970’s. This look was known as glam rock. Kiss was the only rock bank that wore makeup and wore outrageous over the top wardrobes and platform boots in music history. One one ever copied their look. They were the originals. ❤ Awesome track. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Don't forget Alice Cooper, and David Bowie rocked the make up as well at times. Guess you also forgot Twisted Sister. And to be completely honest Kiss stole the Face Painting from Arthur Brown, and his legendary "Corpse Paint" in the 60's. Sensational Alex Harvey Band guitarist Zal Cleminson did the Clown motif Face Paint in the 70's, and in the Punk scene same era was the Skull Face Paint of The Misfits. More in the 80's picked it up Now KISS were the most famous, and the only reason I know this is I am as old as dust, and did record reviews in the mid to 70's to 80's so got most of the new releases. LOL.
They also have "Rock & Roll All Night", "Detroit Rock City","Beth", and "Lick It Up" plus many more great songs(Rock&Roll All Night is 1 you might have all heard but dont know it). Thank you guys for reacting to KISS!!! You didnt get stuck on the makeup, thank you again for being so open minded, GREAT REACTION guys!!!
I love you guys. You crack me up. The brother on the far right, with the glasses, dude, you had me laughing so hard at the beginning. Keep the videos coming.
There's a clip of KISS performing live, and pyrotechnics behind Ace Frehley catch his hair on fire. Fire is shooting high, but he never stopped singing or playing, even when he gets blasted with a fire extinguisher! It's the most bad ass Rock N Roll moment you'll ever see!
KISS has been my favorite band since I was a kid , I've been in the KISS ARMY now for 30 years 🖤 Gene was my first crush his real name is Chaim Witz he was born in Israel and came to America once he was here he changed his name to Eugene Klein and after awhile just went by Gene Klein which was his mother's maiden name. In the 70s he changed it to Gene Simmons after the rockabilly star jumping Gene Simmons and it stuck 🖤
Watching all you rocking it out, head bopping & feeling the beat is amazing to see & funny as hell!! Seeing the shock on your faces of just how good old school tunes actually are made me giggle!! Now you get what true classic bangers really sound like!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂 Luv from England fellas 🏴 💜
First rock album I ever had Kiss Alive! And I am proud to be in the Kiss Army forever! By the way I am 62 this year! Rock lives forever 👊🏻 ! Best light show in concert and I’ve seen Pink Floyd and thought Kiss was better light show.
its great you guys are checking out this group, you should go down the rabbit whole and check out the rest of their earlier songs. so many bands tried to copy kiss but nobody will ever get close to them. for years nobody even knew what their real faces looked like and when they actually showed the world their face it was epic
I love that this was a play to the disco crowd and became an absolute banger!! Kiss fans were not excited about it but I think it eventually grew on them.
I was 7 when this came out and a young brother was hooked, my dad taught me about R&B and soul and KISS taught me about Rock, it was cool to see some young brothers rockin my jam
Domino and Lick It Up are 2 of their best songs IMO, that hardly ever get mentioned. Hope you eventually react to them. For a beautiful ballad try, Everytime I Look At You, from the unplugged concert.
I think this is the first reaction I’ve seen where y’all just let the song play without stopping to comment. This just shows how good this song and band are!
I was a teenager in the seventies kisses my number one favorite band I have seen them at least 10 or 12 times play the last time I seen them was in 2023 I love them and their concerts are so much fun I feel sorry for the young people who never got to experience seeing them in concert you would feel so excited and happy if you got to experience one of their concerts they've always pick me up when I would feel down about life Gene Simmons was a I believe it was a 6th grade teacher Paul Stanley used to drive taxi cabs these guys worked extremely hard
I'm SO glad you all did KISS!! And even more so that you enjoyed them! They're way more versatile than people think at first glance. A couple other great examples of their diversity are Detroit Rock City, Tears Are Falling, and Beth. Would love to see you all experience those!! Also, I about died laughing when y'all said 'they look like superheros' because they actually DID do a very cheesy film called KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park, where they basically were superheros. It's awful, but kind of in an 'it's so bad, it's good' kinda way. At least to me. Now that would be a fun react lol!!
Great band and they turned KISS into a rock and roll empire like no one else before them, but there are definitely some better songs of theirs you guys should react to. I Love it Loud, Love Gun, Deuce, Detroit Rock City to name a few. You will recognize Strutter from the early Guitar Hero games as well.

When I saw the title I click it so fast- I been listing to kiss ever since I was that dang Scooby Doo movie thing with kiss in it
I loved that movie too and that’s why I clicked this video😂
Kiss was my first concert in ‘77. They were the last concert I saw right before the pandemic shut everything down, and the first one when everything opened back up. Rock and Roll All Night, Detroit Rock City are two to bangers and Beth is completely different, but worth the listen! There are so many more songs I could recommend.
There was a pandemic in 77?!
Long time between concerts.
Yes! I think they’ll LOVE Seger! Beautiful loser would be awesome for them.
Loved kiss saw them back in the day when gene spit fake blood and one of their final concerts so cool! Loved the song Beth too😉
Kiss are real chameleons, they've done all kinds of rock subgenres. From pop-rock, disco-rock like this, old school 70's rock n roll, 80's hair metal, to really heavy stuff
THIS song came out in 1979 And they where there best in the 70s
But this was a 70s PARTY Big time ,,
@@theodoreritola7641 it's a great song, but far from their greatest 70's catalogue material imo. One of their most commercial hit sounding ones, yes!
I love their 80’s stuff
@@metaphoria3 me too, much great stuff. Only wish Crazy Nights and Asylum had way better mixes/production. Basicly no bottom exists. Almost just treble and weak mids. I'm sure there are third party remasters circulating out there though. But really wish Kiss would do new mixes and remaster them again!
I grew up during the time that Kiss was starting and there wasn’t anything like their music at the time. It was a very unique sound. I really like their songs. They never get old to me no matter how many times I hear them.
So proud of ya'll! Thanks for keeping great music alive!
LOVE KISS!!! Always and forever.
It was the 1970’s. This look was known as glam rock. Kiss was the only rock bank that wore makeup and wore outrageous over the top wardrobes and platform boots in music history. One one ever copied their look. They were the originals. ❤
Awesome track.
More in the 80's picked it up
Now KISS were the most famous, and the only reason I know this is I am as old as dust, and did record reviews in the mid to 70's to 80's so got most of the new releases. LOL.
Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars were before KISS.😅
Kiss did full makeup. No one knew who they were. Yes other band wore makeup but not full face
The NY Dolls were the first and David J wore heels
At the reunion tour,in Ames,IA, Ace shot out a light, with his guitar rocker launcher.
Its so amazing to see people for the first time seeing how much range that Paul had in his voice.
LMAO at y'all's shock! There's a reason they were the best! Everybody dancing is so great and lifts the spirits of all of us watching!
THIS IS WHO INFLUENCED PRINCE , 💯 straight FACTS 🎶🎵🎶⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️😎
Kiss is an amazing and very entertaining band!!! Loved how you guys enjoyed it😂❤👍
My 2nd fave rock band of all time, & the ULTIMATE glam rock band! Thanks for your reaction.
Their comic books were sick too 🤘🔥 glad you enjoyed them, KISS is the s**t!!
Comic books, lunch boxes, you name it.
Discovered y'all last night & have been binging since. Got me straight up hooked. Love ya.
I'm so happy you finally gave KISS a try...stick with older songs...but they are all good!
I love that this was a play to the disco crowd and became an absolute banger!! Kiss fans were not excited about it but I think it eventually grew on them.
Awesome song this is one reason they are one of the top rock bands ever
I was 7 when this came out and a young brother was hooked, my dad taught me about R&B and soul and KISS taught me about Rock, it was cool to see some young brothers rockin my jam
I catch so much heat for this and “Beth” being my fav Kiss songs
I am so proud you guys are open like this! You are all open minded like this great smart young men!
Domino and Lick It Up are 2 of their best songs IMO, that hardly ever get mentioned. Hope you eventually react to them. For a beautiful ballad try, Everytime I Look At You, from the unplugged concert.
I was 8 when I got the Dynasty album- it was my first "grown up" record. I've owned it on vinyl, cassette, CD, and MP3 and still love it.
KISS is amazing! Check out Calling Dr. Love, Shout It Out Loud, Hotter Than Hell, and you might know this one from Guitar Hero...Strutter!! 🔥🔥
I love you guys . Thanks for your reaction . It's fun seeing yall enjoy the music I grew up on.
Great you guys are diving into KISS. I would recommend Detroit Rock City and God Of Thunder!
I think this is the first reaction I’ve seen where y’all just let the song play without stopping to comment. This just shows how good this song and band are!
Paul Stanley was an underrated singer
You guys crack me up! I have been a KISS fan for 40 years. I love how you're enjoying this. I hope you're reaction is genuine.
Its a great song puts you in a good mood
Kiss brought the funk.
Back in the day, it was the one rock band that EVERYBODY loved.
God gave rock and roll to you ,I love it loud
Ace Frehley from Kiss sang New York Groove in 1978. Another great song!
"Lick It Up" is another great song by KISS. Definitely worth a listen...
I love it when people dont KNOW..but still know
You guys blow me away with old school interest👍✌️🇺🇸
Love this song! Thanks for playing it! You just got to love Kiss
Great band and they turned KISS into a rock and roll empire like no one else before them, but there are definitely some better songs of theirs you guys should react to. I Love it Loud, Love Gun, Deuce, Detroit Rock City to name a few. You will recognize Strutter from the early Guitar Hero games as well.
that bass volley in the beginning is awesome, great song, glad you guys dig it!
Kiss Has Some Awesome Songs.. Funky... Dont let the Make Up Fool You.. they are icons and was even on Scooby Doo.. lol..
The smiles on your faces says it all 🎸🎸🎸♥️
