After watching the Detroit rock city movie i was under the impression that 70’s rockers didn’t like disco. And sometimes in the 70 show it kinda seemed like they didn’t like disco lol.
@@champion6534Damn near every band had at least one disco-ish song...damn near. There were some that never did, but most everybody tried cashing in. This made me and my friends give so much shit to the uber-KISS fans (I never really cared for them at all). "THEY WENT DISCO!!!" Ha ha ha haaaaa
@@champion6534Look up "Disco Demolition Night" at the old Comiskey Park in Chicago. A radio station talked the White Sox into having a promotion between games of a double header where fans could bring disco records to the stadium and burn them. On the field. It turned into a riot. ha ha ha haaaa
Disco was so big that all other bands were trying to capture a part of that audience by doing a disco type song or two. But it's true most of the 70s rock bands did not like disco.
KISS was the second concert I went to, 1976 Spokane. Got me grounded for 2 weeks and damn well worth it! You can't go wrong with KISS in the 70's. Loved your reaction, similar to my reaction at the concert! Thanks for the look back, Aileen! I can always count on you to bring the goods! Enjoy your trip with the KISS Army!
Give “Love Gun”, “I Stole Your Love”, “Detroit Rock City”, “God Of Thunder”, “I Love It Loud”, “War Machine”, “Black Diamond” & “Deuce” a listen. There are a bunch more that are definitely worth a listen, but it would be cool to see you react to these.
They were the first Rock band I got into as a kid. The makeup drew me in, but the music kept me listening. The “Kiss Alive” versions of “Black Diamond” & “Deuce” are awesome. Especially Ace’s solos on both.
Wasn't a huge KISS fan. I mean, I loved (really loved) a few of their songs, but it just didn't click. Then I went to see them live. wow. just wow. Best live band ever. KISS was made to be seen live on stage. The best performance ever of any band and I have went to allot of concerts. KISS on the radio? Sounds good. KISS live? Busting out the cough drops screaming! It is almost impossible to explain the difference, but it is there. It is there in a big way.
If you listen and watch closely, you're able to tell that this version of the original promotional video from 1979 has been slightly edited in certain spots. Though I'm not sure why it was edited. The original version isn't that long.
Only thing that was missing back in the day was actual talent. Give me Rob Halford, KK Downing, Glenn Tipton and Dave Holland. Priest released "Sin after Sin" in '78. That is an incredible album.
This was the Disco (1979) Era of KISS, some of the earlier KISS 70s are "Black Diamond" (Live 1975 on The Midnight Special) , "Shock Me", "God of Thunder", "Detroit Rock City", "Beth", "Hard Luck Woman","Strutter" "I Love it Loud" (80s but still in makeup). Now the Non Makeup 80s you have "Lick it up", "Heaven's on Fire" ,"Lets put the X in Sex", "Tears are Falling", "Forever" (a song played in my Wedding),. I could put a LOT more but if you just do ONE of these songs you'll see their range as a band! the KISS ARMY 🤘 😈😾👾🌟
without a doubt that groove is infectious. How can you not like it. Definitely a feel good tune. I was 10 when this came out and got to see them in concert then, totally blown away!
If this is your first venture into KISS, don’t expect them all to sound like this. They said this was their venture into Disco. I’d highly recommend “Detroit Rock City” “Psycho Circus” “Love Gun” “Lick it Up” and “Calling Dr. Love” as some of their popular and fun songs to listen to next. Thanks as always for a fantastic review!
Ah. Their Disco song. Not the one I would have chosen, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Kiss simply because they were probably my doorway to harder rock.
Honestly, I still think this is their best song. I like their hard stuff but they nailed this style and then never did it again which is a little disappointing.
I remember the disco girl in Detroit Rock City was Nostradamus and stated..."Man, disco is so fucking big right now even Kiss will do a disco song." Followed by the gang strongly disagreeing.
@@Deadpool-px2nm I know the question wasn't directed at me, but you can check out "I love it Loud" as an example of a "harder" song. This isn't Metallica level, but was probably close to considered "metal" at the time (although, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath were around at this time). "Detroit Rock City" and "I wanna Rock and Roll all Night" are probably the quintessential Kiss songs. Also "Beth" is another interesting song for them (sung by Peter Criss the drummer). For some of their later mid to late 80's you can check out "Lick it up" or for a more ballad flavor check out "Forever".
KISS had always billed themselves as a stage band. They would put it all out there with every performance and made sure their audiences had their minds blown every time. Theatricality was their hook and they were responsible for rock shows becoming ..... rock shows. Prior to them., live performances consisted of the band members, their instruments, a sound system and that was it. KISS brought in pyrotechnics, lasers, flamethrowing guitars, smoke machines, fire-breathing and anything else you can think of when you think of stage production value. It all started with them.
KISS was one of several inspirations that Ghost drew from, they also drew inspiration from other greats of the '70s and '80s, including Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, and Uriah Heep. So those are some other bands of the era you may want to look into. 🤘
"I was made for lovin' you" was a huge international hit by Kiss in 1979, but it came at a cost... In the 70's, Kiss had established themselves as a hard rock outfit w/ an explosive stage show... They were known for their rock anthems like - 'Rock and roll all nite'... 'Love gun' ... 'Detroit rock city' ... 'Shout it out loud'... etc. 🔥🔥🤘🤘But Kiss also had an unexpected major pop hit in 1976 - the ballad 'Beth'... sung by drummer Peter Criss... Kiss had been signed by disco label Casablanca Records, and disco became huge by 1977/ '78... For some reason, Kiss decided to go for a disco record, hoping for another big pop hit; that became the 'Dynasty' album in '79... "I was made for lovin' you" made Kiss an international phenomenon from America to Australia. However, it marked the end of the original Kiss. The problem was that Kiss was marketed w/ so much merchandise that they were perceived as a kid's band by 1979, and making a disco record alienated their hard rock fanbase... When they toured America in '79, they discovered that their shows weren't selling out any more and kids were there w/ their parents to see Kiss in concert. The other problem was that Peter Criss (drums) was struggling w/ a drug problem and the band realized his skills on the drums were suffering... Criss did not even play on most of the 'Dynasty' album (Session drummer Anton Fig played on the tracks) ... Making matters worse, Peter Criss could not perform optimally on tour in '79. It got so bad that the next Kiss album 'Unmasked' (1980) did not have Criss on it (Anton Fig played all the drums), even though his face was on the album cover. According to the band, they made the decision in early 1980 to let Peter Criss go... and Eric Carr (drums) joined Kiss w/ a new makeup character. But a 2nd disco album failed commercially... and the makeup era of Kiss was over by 1983 because nobody wanted to see the band w/ only 2 original members (lead guitarist Ace Frehley quit in 1982). Thankfully, Kiss returned in 1983 without the makeup and saw their career surge again in the 80's.
In the mid-late 70s KISS had a televised concert in prime time. Those special time slots were usually reserved for things like Muhamad Ali, Evel Knievel and of course The World Series and The Super Bowl. There were only 3 TV stations at that time so very few bands were big enough to get that privilege. Elton John was another that I remember. Gene Simmons spitting blood and Ace Frehley shooting flames from his guitar on prime time television had parents absolutely rattled haha. Great times!
There is a twice as long version! This is a great reaction! Lead singer is Paul Stanley. He was actually the final Phantom of the Opera at the end of the 10 year run of the show at the Toronto Pantages theater so he had vocal chops at the level of Freddie Mercury throughout the 80s 90s and even early 2000s. Now he is in his mid-70s and of course father Time takes his toll. And this was actually the shortest most edited version of the song ever. If you listen to the original version off the album it’s notably longer but it’s also true that there is a extend the disco version that more than double the length of the song and actually adds (not just repeats) unheard original content from the original studio recording days. Dr Tom approved reaction!❤ PS: I have seen Kiss almost 40 times and met them multiple times, including Paul Stanley at the Toronto Pantages theater in a private meeting. Total gentleman. His life story, as told in his book “face the music“ is fascinating, especially as I hear you discuss issues regarding mental health about which Paul is very open about his.
Other Kiss songs you could try,Sure Know Something,Heavens On Fire,Love Gun,Lick It Up,Crazy Crazy Nights,Unholy,Hide Your Heart,Take It Off,Deuce,Hard Luck Woman,Detroit Rock City,Rise To It,Domino,Psycho Circus,Rock N Roll All Night,Reason To Live,Forever,I Stole Your Love.
Somebody dared kiss to right a disco song so they wrote one, most kiss fans did not like it .when I bought this album and heard this song I was like what is this! great reaction glad you liked it .better songs on the way have a blessed day! 😊😀👍👍❤
KISS will always be one of my favorite bands and you're gonna have so much fun falling down the rabbit hole. I definitely recommend "Love Gun", "God of Thunder", "Beth", "Heaven's On Fire", "Who Wants to Be Lonely" and "Lick It Up"
HI Aileen ,This was released in 1979 and is from their Dynasty album, This is the original Kiss line up of : Paul Stanley on vocals Gene Simmons on bass guitar Ace Frehley on rhythm guitar Peter Criss on drums Check out Beth by Kiss, it was written by drummer Peter Criss ,who also sings lead vocals on the song 😂😂 Big Hi from Scotland 🏴
This is my first real time getting to listen to these guys and soak it all in with you 😭 It’s always such a good time getting to watch these first and new reacts to bands you’ve never done before since you always have the most fun with them 😭❤️ When he hit that cool little high and you had to go back for it, I was so for it cause i would’ve done it too! Had me taken back a little! You bringing up KISS and Vegas made me realize how iconic these guys were because all of the references we have here 😭 Excited to see you going down this tunnel cause I’ll be doing the same with you! ❤️
this song was written by Desmond Child who also wrote a TON of hits for Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Joan Jett, Cher, Alice Cooper (check out his song 'Poison', you will love that one) and Ricky Martin (Livin La Vida Loca)
Aileen, your discovery of KISS made my day. Thank you. I've always been drawn to the bass line in songs, and this one comes out of the gate without mercy. The song that immediately let me know that I would have to learn the bass before I die was Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "WELCOME TO THE PLEASURE DOME" th-cam.com/video/WzOGLKTmeuY/w-d-xo.html. (Skip ahead to 1:47 for where the song begins) Best bass line ever!
KISS was the first rock concert I saw, I was 8 years old in 1976. I have seen them live 25 times, traveled to Toronto to see Paul Stanley (front man) perform in Phantom of he opera.
@@AileenSenpai This wasn't stereotypical Kiss, this was an experimental foray into disco to test their musicianship. Also, an fyi..... the guitarist "Ace Frehley" was an idol of Dimebag Darrel. Please try other Kiss to see what they are like musically.
I love your reaction and your dance is very beautiful and great, Kiss is awesome and amazing band and keep up awesome and amazing job Alieen senpai ❤️ 🌹❤️🌷❤️⚘️.
Yeah! great reaction again... Thier one disco song! The Singer Paul Stanley wrote it on a dare.... saying that it was easy to write a disco song... they made it rock.
This was there first disco hit, yes it's true but most of their songs are Rock and very few are falsetto style... Starchild The lead vocalist Paul Stanley. Astroman Lead guitar Ace Frehley. The Catman Drummer Peter Criss. And The Demon Base Guitar Gene Simmons.
Welcome to the KISS ARMY! You are going to enjoy the ride along this road with them. They have a huge following and a huge amount of music in their inventory! You are in for such a great ride! I love your energy and expressionism! It's so much fun to watch your reaction(s) to music I've been listening to since i was a little kid in the late '70s and a teen into the 80's. Graduated high school in 1989! Keep up the great work! You rock!
Awesomeness!!!! I can see you on the dance floor getting down to this song!!!! I love this song!!!! 🥰 Let’s dance??? 💃🏻 🪩 🕺🏻 Your happiness and how the music just lights you up like Christmas!!!! God bless you!!!! Love that smile and dance!!!!! 😁😍 Kiss had a lot of great songs and albums… Animalize is a great album to check out. 🤘🏻 Paul Stanley - The Lover - singer, Gene Simmons - The Demon - bass player , Ace Frehley - The Space Man - guitar player, and Peter Cris - The Cat - drummer.
Though at the time isnt wasnt well received by hardcore KISS fans,it has become a staple of their shows. When they formed in 1973 they wanted to be the band they never saw. Some bands went for the glam look. They made the 4 characters to fit their likes personalities.(Guitar / co vocals) Paul Stanley "The Starchild" wanted to be a rock star from an early age.(Bassist co vocals) Gene Simmons (The Demon) loved comic books & horror.)lead guitar) Ace Frehley "The Spaceman) was into science fiction."drummer" Peter Criss (The Catman) loved cats & grew up in a rough section of Brooklyn. He thought he had 9 lives. They have hard rock songs but they have rock ballads. They have theatrics fake blood, fire,& smoking guitars
Classic KISS lineup : Paul Stanley, the "Starchild" - Lead Vocals & Guitar Ace Frehley, the "Space Ace" - Lead Vocals & Guitar Gene Simmons, the "Demon" - Lead Vocals & Bass Peter Criss, the "Cat Man" - Vocals & Drums (Lead vocals on "Beth")
That's very innacurate though. For one thing, you ignored the difference between lead guitar (played by Ace) and rhythm guitar (played by Paul). But what's worse, it's just nonsense to credit Peter with lead vocals only on "Beth". He sang lead vocals ever since the eponymous first album released in 1973 (ever heard of "Black Diamond"?) and every album on which he played featured at least one song sang by him on lead vocals, songs such as "Strange Ways", "Getaway", "Beth" of course, "Hard Luck Woman" (which was quite a hit as well), "Hooligan" or "Dirty Livin'". Ace on the other hand first sang lead vocals for the first time only in 1977 on his song "Shock Me" from the Love Gun album.
@@lolomgmetobavi How am I "inaccurate"? Just cos I was not as specific as you would like me to be on certain things? Such as the guitar duties or Criss' vocal credits being limited to "just Beth"? Pardon the f*ck out of me for not being as much of a devout KISS fan as you seem to be. I have always only had a casual appreciation for SOME of their tunes, and only recently decided to acquire their entire catalog as I discovered I liked a bit more than "just the hits" (and I'm still missing a couple of titles ; mainly just Alive IV and the Unplugged Carnival whatever it's called), and I am not yet familiar with all their material much less have it all memorized who performs what guitar work or lead vocals from one song/album to the next. Lead guitar, rhythm guitar, it's all the same to me. If it aint bass, drums, or keyboards, then they're interchangeable as far as I am concerned. Guitar is guitar. I'm not that kind of music snob to the point where I fuss over the semantics of whether a performer plays leads, rhythms, solos, or any combination thereof or how many of each in any given song on any given number of albums - I just don't give a damn. As long as it all sounds good, I'm happy. If I get more into the band, then perhaps I may eventually care more about their individual contributions and credits. But until then, what I posted above is sufficient enough, especially for newbies like I was or still am. I dunno if you're just being an annoying troll looking for some lame self-amusement, or seizing an opportunity to flex and brag/showboat about your KISS knowledge? But either way, it's cringey and douchey. Don't do that. I mean, what's next? You gonna give Aileen a hard time for not being totally informed on every trivial factoid that every good KISS Army veteran knows inside out and backwards? If you wanna offer friendly context and expand on someone's limited knowledge, cool - but don't be an elitist twat about it, using words like "very inaccurate" and pointing out everything I "ignored", and then pile on with "what's worse" and your condescending attitude on if I've "ever heard of" particular songs that even casual KISS listeners like myself couldn't possibly NOT know (that is at least, know _of_ if not know _well_ ). I was not "very inaccurate" - I was merely vague. What I said was not untrue, was it? It was completely true ; it was merely lacking specifics and context. I didn't "ignore" - I did not commit a deliberate snub, I simply wasn't aware enough to really care about such semantics, thus resulting in your ludicrous allegations of "inaccuracy". The only thing "inaccurate" here, is you and your unfair and pompous characterization of me and my comment. I doubt you'd appreciate it if you took a chance on chiming on a band you had limited knowledge of, simply wanting to contribute and participate in the discussion, and then got chastised and shamed for your efforts over your "ignorance". Take your shamefest and shove it.... m'kay? Whether it's music, movies, literature, or whatever, elitist snobs are NOT cool. Nobody likes them. So don't be one. PS - Come to think of it, God (Of Thunder) forbid you ever find my comment where I mistakenly credited "Hooligan" as a Gene vocal song - you might have a total conniption... Oh wellz...
@@39Hundred In fairness, it appears the band did try to give new members their own alter-ego personas Eric Carr (The Fox) and Vinnie Vincent (The Ankh Warrior), but they returned to the original quartet with The Spaceman (Tommy Thayer) and The Catman (Eric Carr). According to Wikipedia : _The band is famous for its iconic makeup designs, each of which represents a different character or persona. The original four designs consisted of : the "Starchild", the "Demon", the "Spaceman", and the "Catman". The band formerly included a practice of giving any new members a new persona, such as the "Fox" for Carr and the "Ankh Warrior" for Vincent; this practice was ended after Thayer and Singer took up Frehley's "Spaceman" and Criss's "Catman" personas respectively. When asked on the matter, Simmons stated, "Why wouldn't we use the classic makeup? We own it". Criss relinquished his rights to his makeup when he left the band in 2004, which he later regretted, saying, "I'm pissed at myself that my makeup slipped through my hands", while Frehley claims he licensed his design to the band and would get it back, a notion which Stanley has called "a fantasy"._ Starchild : Paul Stanley (1973-1983, 1990, 1996-2023)

Aileen, I saw Kiss in concert 3 times. One concert I went to they started playing the song and then quit and said, "We can't play it becuase we did not bring their white suits" Referring to Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta and the Disco Era. Everyone said it was a disco song not a rock song. LOL That was in the 1980s and I still remember like it was yesterday.
You would have fit right into a Kiss show in the 70s. Now, just so you know, this is a dabbling in disco. Not the typical Kiss sound, but I think you will love even the harder stuff. kiss are epic for a reason.
An all time classic! Hey gorgeous, glad youre digging KISS! This is KISS'S contribution to Disco! You're beautiful and have a great personality! 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋🦊🦊🦊🦊
Great reaction! This was during KISS' peak years, in the late 70's, during their DYNASTY tour! In my opinion, their best costumes, and way glam and over the top! I was 17, and saw this show live at Madison Square Garden! Just got my NJ driver's license, and went into the city with 3 friends to go see this tour... GREAT times!
With this song, KISS proved that you can rock out to disco. Other standouts in the KISS canon include "Detroit Rock City" and "Rock n Roll All Nite," which is their unofficial anthem/signature song.
Yes, Yes, YES! KISS Army member here, & thank you for reacting to these rock GODS! They don't HAVE a bad song. Paul Stanley - front man, rhythym guitar; Ace Frehley - lead guitar; Gene Simmons - bass; Peter Criss - drums. Enjoy this rabbit hole!
Aileen, I've been suffering from insomnia. So what you ask? Well this has been a good news, bad news situation. The bad news - I'm up in the middle of the night. The good news, I have been enjoying watching some of your older reactions. I have been focusing on the music I grew up with. From the smooth sounds of The Righteous Brothers, the captivating Pink Floyd, the dynamic Deep Purple, the over the top theatrics of KISS to the southern fried rock that is Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is an interesting cross section of music. So much music from that era to enjoy. Something I think you will enjoy is AC/DC at River Plate Argentina. Any of the songs from the concert are great, but I suggest starting with "Thunderstruck" or "Highway to Hell". AC/DC Live At River Plate was recorded in Buenos Aires in December 2009 when nearly 200,000 fans (over 3 sold-out nights) thunderously welcomed AC/DC back after a 13-year absence from Argentina. The crowd scenes are insane! I think it is time I tried to sleep again, so for now, TTFN!
A lot of people are weird about this song but I absolutely love it. I've been a KISS fan for almost 40 years and I love every one of the music genres that they've dabbled in. From classic early KISS, to Hair Metal KISS and all the little things they've done in between. I love it all! What can I say? I LOVE IT LOUD 😜🤘
This was the first concert I went to at 8 years old … The Dynasty Tour and “I was made for loving you” was the hit at the time!! The opening act was John Cougar (before he became “Mellancamp” … with his second hit single “Jack & Diane” second to “Ain’t Even Done With the Night”!! It’s crazy where time has gone!!
It was the other way around. He was "John Cougar" first because the record companies didn't think people would buy records from a guy named Mellancamp.
So much good stuff to say about KISS! Completely underrated as musicians and vocalist. My advice is listen to the entire Double Platinum album...and then move on to their other albums.
Fun fact to giggle: In the MTV ranking of rockstars sleept with the most women. On number 1: Kiss bassist Gene Simmons with around 4000...dont know how they count that. Like they have pen and a list at hand all the time...well. On number 2: Lemmy (Motörhead Bassist and Frontman) with over 2000 sleept. Knowing his Biography and Lifestyle....i believe that without question. On number 3: suprisingly Rolling Stone Bassist(why all the bassists?!?!?)Bill Wyman with slightly under 2000 slept. Crazy times Love your reactions and nice to see you enjoying it. I would recommend "Detroit Rock City" next, because its more the real KISS shown. Also if you want some other tasty bites: Serj Tankian (SOAD Frontman solo) - Sky is over Evanescence - Lithium Linkin Park- Given Up Linkin Park - Crawling Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit System of a down - Hypnotize Have a nice day!
Kiss were pretty much always a pop metal act for the most part, but their heavier moments tend to be when Gene (bassist) is singing. Songs like Unholy or God of thunder tend to be as heavy as they get. On the subject of Gene singing, the classic line up was Gene Simmons (bass), Paul Stanley (vocals/rhythm guitar), Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums). Paul was the main vocalist, with Gene secondary, but Ace and Paul would take the mic as well. In fact they were so popular in America during the 70s that all four band members released solo albums on the same day, with thematic covers. There are odd songs here and there where members share vocals as well (Gene and Paul shared vocals on God gave rock n roll to you, and all four members shared vocals on You wanted the best). This song was one of their poppiest though as it was their stab at doing something that would appeal to the disco loving crowd which was massive in the 70s. As someone from the UK, Kiss were never a big deal here until the mid 80s, after they dropped their make up gimmick. First really successful song for them here would be Crazy crazy nights. Creatures of the night and Lick it up both barely scratched the top 40, but Crazy went to #4, and this was the mainstream chart not the rock chart. Yes, like a lot of metal and hard rock acts they defo had a following here, but that was when they finally became a big deal here.
Paul Stanley is one of the best front men in rock, yet so underated. He has it all, the voice, the moves, and the raw talent and 100 percent SEXY!!! I was made for loving you was highly criticized as being "disco " in 1979 but in truth it is a rocker. I always said it would be my first dance at my wedding. Get everyone on the floor.
This is a good song to introduce yourself to the band. But it's not their typical sound. Now it's time to go down the rabbit hole! So many sounds and eras to explore. I'll be here for more KISS!! May I suggest Shout it Out Loud from Tiger Stadium '96? It really shows the connection the band and fans have. So many bands cite KISS as their influence.
I just saw KISS on the 50th anniversary tour. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are absolute gods of rock. In their 70s and still rocking like they are in their 20s.
Now you have to watch the video for the song, Lick it up. They are without makeup and definitely own the neighborhood... Love your reactions, you are the coolest 😊
Paul Stanley aka "Starchild" sings lead on this track, Gene Simmons "The Demon" plays bass, "Spaceman" Ace Frehley plays lead guitar and Peter Criss "The Cat" is on drums...this is their original lineup and this song is from 1977's "Love Gun" album.
Kiss stopped wearing the makeup when they were getting comments from critics that said they would be nothing without the makeup. When they stopped wearing the makeup, critics rated them much higher.
My vote for next Kiss song would be Black Diamond from 74-75.. This song is great in its own way, but not really indicative of what Kiss I was about. They were a force before money and fame derailed them. Check out the early songs.. You’re doing great Aileen, love your reactions…
So many do this for the first reaction. Its a good song but you have to get deeper down that rabbit hole to really experience KISS. Looking forward your journey with them!!
I love your energy, the way you experience music, your smile, I share to make your channel known to the French public, even if we may not be many, I love it, I would like to rediscover the music of the year 80, who rocked my teenage years
A few others to recommend from KISS Detroit Rock City Rock and Roll All Nite (Live) Beth Shout It Out Loud God Gave Rock N Roll to You Turn On the Night Tears Are Falling I Love It Loud Forever
First saw KISS in concert back in January '78. KISS slaughtered the 19,000+ crowd at the Spectrum in Philly that night. Ticket price back then was $8.00. I still have my ticket / ticket stub. They dominated the mid to late 70's and crushed it thru the 80's. I went on to see them 10 more times, most recently October 23, 2023 in Nashville to another sold out show. Fact: KISS has more GOLD records than any band in history. More than the Beatles, Elvis, the Stones, Led Zep, anyone. Their final concert, December 2nd, 2023 at Madison Square Garden not only sold out but, 551,000 people paid to watch the show live through Pay-Per-View. It was historic, KISSTORY in fact!
Your Reaction was Priceless ! I just started listening to this song again recently. Haven't heard it since I was a kid in the 70's. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Your reaction was fun and absolutely Genuine.
This is when KISS went more disco and poppier. Their best stuff is when they were more "darker ' and edgier. In my previous comment,i said watch and react to some live stuff from '75-'78. Check out some stuff from Japan 1977 or Houston.TX 1977 or Madison Square Garden 1977.
Firehouse, Deuce, strutter, cold gin, plaster caster, world without heroes, beth, Love Gun, God of thunder, Detroit Rock City, war machine, I love it loud give these a listen all from Kiss
I'm a huge KISS fan since I was in Jr. high in the 70's. They were one of the first concerts I went to at Denver Coliseum. Later I took my 14 year old daughter to see them and an Indian casino in So Cal. Gotta check out Detroit Rock City, Rock and Roll All night, Love Gun and the ballad sung by Peter Criss, Beth which became a big hit on the pop charts.
every member was great at what they gave to the performance Paul Stanley voice was powerful ace freely gave the guitar solo to die for peter Chris drumming kept the tempo solid and gene Simmons charisma pn the bass was the cherry on top of an iconic performance
On note on KISS ... They performed in Japan a lot and had a big fan base there. 2 guys saw them and decided to form a band that was inspired to have a unique look and do massive shows. These 2 guys went on to form X Japan and became the biggest most popular band in Japan. They called their style Visual Kei. And inspired most of the modern J Rock and J Metal bands out there today. Want another rabbit hole, check out som Javanese bands. Do Versailles Revenant Choir live.
I grew up in the 70s and my mom and neighbors had Disco playing in the evenings. In came this song and it was may gateway to rock music, then ultimately heavy metal. Thank you Casablanca Records.
I'm not a big Kiss fan, but I like many of their songs so much, and some of them I love; this one is good, but It's a little bit strange, to say the least, when you get to know it's a Kiss song. Although once in a while even an iconic band such as Kiss might want to try something new, as they did in the beautiful ballad, which I love and recommend, "Forever". And I also suggest, of course, some of their hits - my favorite ones: "All Hell's breakin' loose"; "I love it loud"; "Lick it up"; "Heaven's on fire"; "Rock and roll All nite".
This song was a bit of an experiment for KISS. It was written with a disco beat in mind. It’s unique in the KISS catalog.
@@champion6534that is why the joke that the disco girl says about Kiss doing a Disco album is funny. Because Dynasty came after Love Gun.
Enjoy your trip with the KISS Army!
i saw them 78 fresno ca, cheap tricked opened way better kiss looked and sounded hungover, i had all their albums in my 8 track though
Paul Stanley is soo good when he hits those high notes. Real high energy voice

Awesome picks 🤘
Black Diamond and Deuce are phenomenal.
Ahh...a true fan..nice to see
They were the first Rock band I got into as a kid. The makeup drew me in, but the music kept me listening. The “Kiss Alive” versions of “Black Diamond” & “Deuce” are awesome. Especially Ace’s solos on both.
Same for me. Alive and Alive 2 are epic. I used to know everything about the band when I was a teenager
The drummer wrote a song called *Beth* that has some of the best lyrics out there.
I should have know you weren't a Kiss fan when you volunteered to dress up like Peter Criss...XD
@@alexbeardsley751 , Peter!
STILL LOVING YOU!!!!!
Beth was actually their biggest hit I believe.
That song was written by Diane Warren, but it was always performed live by the drummer.
Same.
Live is absolutely incredible!!
I agree. KISS is more than a band. It’s an experience.
if you wanna see his powerful singing voice, I highly recommend Kiss - I Still Love You live mtv acoustic 1995, that's epicooo
I second that
I still love you - MTV Unplugged performance. One of my favorite songs and performances!!
I concur
Paul Stanley at his peak.
Indeed, she can use the upscaled version on my channel even!
Iconic make-up, sci fi costumes, THE tongue, blood spitting, the explosions, dry ice, konfetti, the logo etc... Yes, its Kiss.

I love your enthusiasm. It's great seeing young people discovering the classics.
without a doubt that groove is infectious.
When that bass guitar kicks back in 😊😊 Love your enthusiasm, Aileen!
@@Skuba451 Ive never listened to Kiss before... what would you say is their harder stuff?
Check out Halocene and the Ukrainian band Sershen and Zaritskaya's Metal version of this. it's de-discofied.
Dr Tom approved reaction!❤
PS: I have seen Kiss almost 40 times and met them multiple times, including Paul Stanley at the Toronto Pantages theater in a private meeting. Total gentleman. His life story, as told in his book “face the music“ is fascinating, especially as I hear you discuss issues regarding mental health about which Paul is very open about his.

Ace Frehley, the "Space Ace" - Lead Vocals & Guitar
Gene Simmons, the "Demon" - Lead Vocals & Bass
Peter Criss, the "Cat Man" - Vocals & Drums (Lead vocals on "Beth")

How am I "inaccurate"?
Oh wellz...
It’s a shame how Gene and Paul allowed others to wear the Catman and Space Ace make up designs.
Peter and Ace will always be THE Catman and Space Ace.

In fairness, it appears the band did try to give new members their own alter-ego personas Eric Carr (The Fox) and Vinnie Vincent (The Ankh Warrior), but they returned to the original quartet with The Spaceman (Tommy Thayer) and The Catman (Eric Carr). According to Wikipedia :
_The band is famous for its iconic makeup designs, each of which represents a different character or persona. We own it". Criss relinquished his rights to his makeup when he left the band in 2004, which he later regretted, saying, "I'm pissed at myself that my makeup slipped through my hands", while Frehley claims he licensed his design to the band and would get it back, a notion which Stanley has called "a fantasy"._

@@GeekingOutWithPete you’re right, that’s what I meant to say … thanks for pointing that out!! Fixing it now
So much good stuff to say about KISS!
Crazy times
Love your reactions and nice to see you enjoying it. I would recommend "Detroit Rock City" next, because its more the real KISS shown.

The best rock ballad ever is their song “Beth” fun fact, this song was sang by the original drummer Peter Criss
I just saw KISS on the 50th anniversary tour. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are absolute gods of rock. In their 70s and still rocking like they are in their 20s.
Yooo...this reaction was so great. I grew up hearing Kiss and was so good seeing you get into it and enjoy this vibe. Thank you for that
KISS during their disco sound era. Loved KISS as a kid in the 70s. Had their double platinum 8 track. Then on into the 80s.
KISS Army is watching you! Great reaction! Kisses from Deutschland"
Bass - Gene Simmons/The Demon, singer, guitar - Paul Stanley/Starchild, lead/solo guitar - Ace Frehley/Spaceman or Space Ace & drummer - Peter Criss/Catman.
So many do this for the first reaction. Its a good song but you have to get deeper down that rabbit hole to really experience KISS. Looking forward your journey with them!!
There are so much great music and songs you can listen to from Kiss.. they are just as amazing in concert.
You dancing makes this song a thousand times better
I love your energy, the way you experience music, your smile, I share to make your channel known to the French public, even if we may not be many, I love it, I would like to rediscover the music of the year 80, who rocked my teenage years
Gotta say kiss was one of the bands that put Detroit on the map it's always a staple in top 10 bands in my book
A few others to recommend from KISS
Detroit Rock City
Rock and Roll All Nite (Live)
Beth
Shout It Out Loud
God Gave Rock N Roll to You
Turn On the Night
Tears Are Falling
I Love It Loud
Forever
Great song. Thanks for reacting!
Kiss is amazing! Please check out some of their live performances, especially for their beautiful use of pyrotechnics.
Im so glad that some of you young people are starting to love good rock music from the 60s and 70s and 80s
KISS's response to the Disco of the 70's. And it became a decades long classic.
Die hard KISS fan since 1977. Go down this rabbit hole, you won’t be disappointed! Great reaction.
The front man singer is Paul Stanley, bass is Gene Simmons who also sings lead on occasion, Ace Frehley lead guitar and Peter Criss on drums.
It was a joke started by Peter Chris. They were laughing at disco and Peter started playing the beat.
Firehouse, Deuce, strutter, cold gin, plaster caster, world without heroes, beth, Love Gun, God of thunder, Detroit Rock City, war machine, I love it loud give these a listen all from Kiss
Kiss,showing off their versatility.
Such a great song.
From a great album.
Dynasty.
The album this song is on.
At one point, KISS was the biggest band. While many kids where toting a Scooby Doo lunch box to school, you find just as many toting a KISS lunch box.
My start as a Metalhead was 1980 with KISS , i was 13 years old
I'm not a big Kiss fan, but I like many of their songs so much, and some of them I love; this one is good, but It's a little bit strange, to say the least, when you get to know it's a Kiss song.
