Lots of people commenting about the street legal status. Hell I'm a mechanic, and I see normal cars everyday, that shouldn't be legal to drive on the street. Bald ass tires with the wires sticking out, brakes worn down to the metal, frames/bodies so rusted out, the suspension should fall off, and all those cars drivers have no problem flying down the freeway at 70+mph everyday.
Exactly for the most part built cars are usually in far better shape and their systems are pretty far above what the minimum that the factory puts out. Also on the other side some of these cars are badly put together as well and are just as bad as the cheap scrap the manufacturers put out so. Luckily in a lot of place exceptions can be made per case. I used to get pulled all the time for my mods but multiple trips to the garage for safeties after having plates yanked tells them too that that vehicle is fine and noted to be in better shape than a lot of cars on the road. Great power to weight ratio... if you can effectively transfer power to the pavement, your power/weight ratio determines ET and Trap Speed. 1 to 1 is the magic baseline - (1,000 hp / 1,000 lbs) Top Fuel is probably 10 to 1. I developed curves awhile back that graphed P/W with estimated ET and MPH. I used actual data from different forms of motor racing to check my methods. Estimated and actual numbers were very close. Also, graphed G's using P/W. 1 G = 21.9 mph/sec/sec. If your car accelerates at 1 G (average), you are going 219 mph after 10 seconds. Top Fuel has amazing P/W and launches at high G's. In real life as speed increases aerodynamic drag increases, resulting in G's that are lower over time.
Why would there be insane crankcase pressure? The boost doesn’t pressurize the the inside of the block. If it did that would be called excessive leak down from failed or worn parts like pistons, rings, valve guides, valves, etc. there are turbo cars running 80+psi on big blocks.
Man, Rod and his team are a class act! Super genuine people, that love showing the car as much as they love racing it! They even cycled the hood for ya, and were GENUINELY happy to do so!
Given how many people are here talking about living in the same town and seeing him drive it, plus him having a larger radiator and fuel cell for the street, I believe he puts a decent amount of street miles on it. Drag Week isn’t necessary for a street car, but surviving it undeniably adds tons of streetability cred.
Here's the thing - no one really cares if "you" consider it a street car or not. The fact that the owner chooses to and does drive it regularly on the street is the only "standard" that matters.
What a cool story. Bought the car brand new off the showroom floor. Seem like a bunch of really cool, knowledgeable dudes. The build quality on that car is insane. Rod's hair is epic LOL
Living in Indiana have owned 15 winter beaters so far. All registered all drove on the road. This car is far safer then all those combined. To say it’s not street legal is ridiculous. Crash your car into a wall at 90mph. Most likely you won’t survive this thing hitting a wall at 200 and he could walk away without a scratch. Doesn’t matter if it looks like a race car it beats all the safety standards of a normal day to day car. One of the safest cars you’ll ever see on the road.
Here is a link to a detailed video out out by Tom Bailey listing the 5 quickest/fastest street legal cars. Bailey’s car has been 5.77 at like 259. I'm not even sure if Iowa does..... I'm 3 hours south of council bluffs in Kansas city and, as soon as I notice an Iowa tag, the only thing I try to do is get around their asses in the left lane....... except this guy.......
For him to compare his engineering to a multi million dollar cars technology, and the owner to just be humble and say, basically it gets the job done, thats cool for sure🤙
Going from 0 to 220 mph in 660 ft in a street legal car is insane to think about
The g-force automatically curves your mouth into a big grin
I love it! Such a beautiful build. 8yrs paid off!
I like how he said "thanks 1320". Yep y'all have made 1320 into a fuckin institution! Serious street cred!
Awesome Bro!!! Hope you break the record!!
That would pull so good on a 2jz supra god this thing would make those supras look like junk beside one of these Oldsmobiles
Awesome dude, wicked car. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us 1320 video fans. May the boost be with you.
Well spoken gentlemen with a great vision and attitude, really enjoyed this video, thank you.
I'm curious to know their process for dealing with the insane amount of crankcase pressure.
Why would there be insane crankcase pressure? The boost doesn’t pressurize the the inside of the block. If it did that would be called excessive leak down from failed or worn parts like pistons, rings, valve guides, valves, etc. there are turbo cars running 80+psi on big blocks.
That is awesome, a person who knows the distinction between quick and fast.
Man, Rod and his team are a class act! Super genuine people, that love showing the car as much as they love racing it! They even cycled the hood for ya, and were GENUINELY happy to do so!
Rod is probably one of the nicest, down to earth people you will ever meet. N knows how to go fast!💪🏻
Streetcar huh? Yeah, and I’m a leprechaun……..
Now even street cars are being taken over by the T R A N S movement. As long as it identifies as such I guess.
Bwaaaaaahahahahahaha
Love seeing that Iowa plate. I have to say I want to see how she does on drag week. All those comforts need use . One hell of a car!!
Let's see that thing do a drag week and I may consider it a street car...
@@RyTrapp0 Damn straight
He drives it lol
What a cool story. Bought the car brand new off the showroom floor. Seem like a bunch of really cool, knowledgeable dudes. The build quality on that car is insane. Rod's hair is epic LOL
Bought it brand new, now many years later & untold amounts of $$$,he has this...now that's dedicated!❤😎👍
Shane T has a pretty damn solid track record of making everything fast/quick.
One of the safest cars you’ll ever see on the road.
the thing that makes it unsafe is no crumple zone when you hit someone else you smoke them...... just another american only thinking about themselves.
That’s how I want to roll up to Publix
Here is a link to a detailed video out out by Tom Bailey listing the 5 quickest/fastest street legal cars. Bailey’s car has been 5.77 at like 259. The Sorceress is therefore arguably the “fastest” having gone 265. The video is about 10 months old so some of the times are now dated. In particular Sorceress having gone 5.85? tying for the second quickest car.
th-cam.com/video/R4TrEdXaxPY/w-d-xo.html
BTW, the NHRA national speed record for Pro Mod is 260.4 so, yeah...
Red Victor from UK is for sale
This is a killer car , but Bailey races sic seconds 2.0 pretty much as he street drives it. Also does 1000s of miles with drags and drive events . This is cool but is not driven on the street much
Well that Camaro just broke all the Records!!!! It did 5.61 @ 267 mph!!!!!!!!!!!
@@johnsmith-ym3kx - That’s a track car. This video and discussion is about street legal and street driven cars.
I’d like to see that car on the HotRod Drag Week!!
The definition of street legal car has changed since I was a younger man.
This Cutlass could never be street legal in most states. I won’t waste the time to list all the reasons.
It is cool as Hell though.
Before watching : I’m so sick of the term “street car” being used for fiberglass cars with no interior..
After watching : well shitttt 😮💨
Great stuff, 1320 crew
Ron is a great guy! Very personable! Open to talk about success and failures of his experiences!
Him: thanks 1320…
Lmfao
Us: no thank you mr mad scientist for creating such a bad ass car that just so happens to be street legal and the fastest in the u.s!
Someone get this man a mt dew sponsorship!
So the Camaro runs a 5.61 @ 267 and we aren’t going to mention that!
No stereo = not street legal :)
@@exileut My stereo is broke, izzat illegal?
@@toddburgess6792 I can't even hear my stereo in my civic🤣
Ok… so I’m NOT da only one which also noticed that🧐and surprised ONLY YOU said anything about it🤔Now, does that mean he has to shoot for 268 to be considered da fastest?
What a cool car!! Thank you guys for showing it, I have always loved the Hurst Olds, what he did to that car is just awsome!!!
It's almost required that a machine like this be made by someone named Rod.
😅
Konrod
He said “ Hearst Olds “ and I kind of felt funny like when you climb the rope in gym class ….
That unit is burning too perfection!
Thoroughly entertaining 👍
Amazing build. Love it that it is still "street legal."
I was really skeptical about his being called a street car, but it grew on me. Nice car. I love those old colors from that era cutlass.
I would expect less if it took 8 years for an absolute unit this masterpiece is.
You would expect less?
@@brians48now yeah I'm missing a couple of words there now that I realize or maybe I missaid the comment either way it is what it is.
This is really a throwback to the Pro Street days!
He could build another car out of all the original parts that are left over.
Or he could of just not ruined that beautiful 1 owner Hurst olds
@@Mikesmeyer88 I wouldn't call this ruined by any means
The heat color of the headers shore is purdy.
What a beast!!
Nice flex doing the run with lights on
