    To give some context, this version of Federer was a ghost on the court for every other player on the tour. Perfect everything, a complete player with no weaknesses. Then he meets this version of Rafa, on clay, and it's not even close. This is how unplayable Rafa was.

      @@TheJovan211 2008 was also when Nadal played his matches on grass. Wasn't impossible to beat like he was on clay but he did beat prime Federer in Wimbledon which means that version of Nadal could go up against anyone on grass.

    • @jameswalker6864
      @jameswalker6864 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TheJovan211 It's not only about clay, kid. Nadal possesses a superior peak level than Novak at the US Open. Nadal leads the H2H over Novak 2-1 at the USO in 3 peak vs. peak matches. So Novak is only better than Rafa in 2 out of 4 (50%) of Slams peak-wise, meaning his overall peak is not better than Rafa's.
      Why Djokovic was at his absolute peak both at the USO 2010 and USO 2013:
      USO 2010: Djokovic was already at his peak in the USO 2010. He had dramatically improved and beat Federer in the USO SF. In the USO 2009 SF, Djokovic lost in 3 sets to Federer. But in the USO 2010 SF Djokovic beat Federer with the same result than in the USO 2011 SF (5 sets), indicating that he already had peaked. It's not like Djokovic was non-peak the 31th of December of 2010 and suddenly became peak the 1st of January of 2011. He peaked in the last months of 2010, at the USO 2010.
      USO 2013: Djokovic would have likely won 3 Slams plus the ATP finals without Nadal in 2013, and people would hype 2013 as one of Djokovic's best years. Only because Djokovic lost to Nadal both the RG 2013 SF and the USO F, it doesn't follow that he was non-peak.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Not really well earned kudos, though. Nadal was having his worst year on tour in 2015 due to a confidence slump that started much earlier in the season. In 2021, his left foot kept him from being fully fit. Eventually, he ended his season because of it. Those two wins are not all that impressive when you include the context.

      @@bubufubu I love the rationalizing that goes on. Nadal lost twice to Djokovic at the FO and of course some have to find excuses. Fed beat Nadal at the FO zero times. But let’s keep rationalizing away. Nadal has said over and over that nothing was wrong with him in his two defeats to Djokovic (which I admire and respect about him). When Nadal is truly injured, he states that as a fact and doesn’t cover it up. The fact is that he moved just fine in 2021. You don’t win a set and play as well as he did in that match if one is truly injured. In 2015, he was again healthy and just flat out lost to the better player that day. Djokovic is the only player who gave Nadal some problems (and I should state that in quotes because no one really gave Nadal a problem) on clay. Let’s give Djokovic credit and acknowledge that there was a little luck for Federer in getting that FO title when he did. BTW, this is not to say that Fed was undeserving of winning that title. He won it fair and square.

That was the one big weakness against Nadal is that Fed got pushed back so far on his backhand side and had to work extra hard to stay in rallies.
