(Your face with that jet 🛩️ fighter takeoff of a solo!) “Puzzle” has some of my favorite examples of Kanami’s assembly of guitar motifs. Several unique pieces; all very melodic. Right down to the final note, cavernous echo…what a performance!
Definitely one of Band-Maid's masterpieces. Written by the pretty lady on lead guitar, Kanami Tono, who again makes me wonder how her fingers can survive an entire show, and vocally outstanding by Saiki, who must have a lung volume that is inhuman. :) For me, this band is the piece of the puzzle that I didn't know I was missing before. ❤🔥🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Hearing Band-Maid LIVE and in-person is a superior sonic experience because the instruments are more discrete, it's less complicated (by not having multiple studio guitar tracks, etc.), and no overall (mastering) compression. And of course, watching the Maids play and interact with the audience is something you'll never forget! Thx, John!
It is now essential for you to react to the live Acoustic version. A totally different feel to the same song. The pain in Saiki's voice is palpable. It always makes my eyes leak that salty watery stuff. I'm sure it will do the same to you.
Yeah, the Maids don’t fool around. They are the real deal. This is a song from their first full album after they got complete control of their music from their label (2016/2017). They had been good before but here they showed they were capable of much more and they have not taken their foot off the accelerator since; only getting better and better. They did an acoustic of this that is currently up on you tube, just do a search of "Puzzle Acoustic". They turn this hard rocking song into a beautiful ballad which just shows off the skillful songwriting and versatility of the band. Kanami, the lead guitarist, does backing vocals.
An earlier version was the song that set the hook for me to be a major Band Maid fan. This new version is better because Miku's guitar work. WHO wrote the lyrics..

Saiki was born around the same prefecture as Godzilla so I believe she has three lungs.....so there's that

With a story like Puzzle there is always two sides and the acoustic version features Kanami and Saiki which completes the PUZZLE and a must watch.

It's not so much they are "better" live than recorded, it's they have so much _passion_ when they play live.
And fan participation and interaction elevates the performance.

The studio albums have the dynamic range compressed to almost nothing, making them close to unlistenable. The live tracks are mixed so much better.

You picked up on the emotional theme. The song is about a woman who falls for a married man who completes her, but the puzzle can't stay together.
