Generational music tastes kind of fuck up everything. The record companies control all of that shit. Yes, they even controlled Korn, Deftones, all of that shit. They know the limits of albums sales and the market saturation. Only the very top bands can call their own shots and make albums when they want and how they want. Metallica did this. Ok dude so we need to have a conversation. I watched most of your Ride the Lightning reaction and half of this reaction. Im a life long fan of Metallica and Im not going to shit on your reactions. I am also a big fan of death metal. I think that you should be commended on having the balls to do a reaction to one of the best albums ever(and thats across all genres of music, its in the National Archives for art and music for a reason). I also think your honesty(about what you can understand at least)is a good trait to have when you walk into something with a negative perception when so many others find hearing Master of Puppets a very positive experience. There are a few things that would help digesting your reviews in the future.... 1) It wouldnt hurt to save your thoughts until the end of the song. Or at very least pause, share with the class, then continue. You are missing 45% of the music. 2) In context saying things like Metallica sounds like Limp Biscuit is historically incorrect. Limp Biscuit sounds like Metallica would be the correct way to say something in this context. 3) Is probably the biggest thing that is not good with your reviews of Metallica, your attempts at making yourself sound like you know what you're talking about in a musical sense fails in the most infuriating way. You threw in the word triplets a lot in the Ride the Lightning reaction and a couple times here, but sections with triplets you didnt mention at all. That note! You get a sudden excitement over a note....that was repeated 4-5bars ago. Nothing in those sections changed. Calling 4/4 time isnt 80s....its been the "standard" time signature since cavemen picked up tree branches and banged them on rocks. I made it through the whole review of this album and it was not good. I feel like your thoughts on Metallica keep you from having an opened mind about thier music. When i mentioned your honesty, I think I may of spoke to soon. Your critiques of Lars, James, and Kirk is the same thing everybody says about them. So are you really listening to the album for the first time or are you sharing what you have heard or seen what other people have said and tried to apply it to the classical era of Metallica just to be edgy? Ok dude so we need to have a conversation. I watched most of your Ride the Lightning reaction and half of this reaction. Im a life long fan of Metallica and Im not going to shit on your reactions. I am also a big fan of death metal. I think that you should be commended on having the balls to do a reaction to one of the best albums ever(and thats across all genres of music, its in the National Archives for art and music for a reason). I also think your honesty(about what you can understand at least)is a good trait to have when you walk into something with a negative perception when so many others find hearing Master of Puppets a very positive experience.
There are a few things that would help digesting your reviews in the future....
1) It wouldnt hurt to save your thoughts until the end of the song. Or at very least pause, share with the class, then continue. You are missing 45% of the music.
2) In context saying things like Metallica sounds like Limp Biscuit is historically incorrect. Limp Biscuit sounds like Metallica would be the correct way to say something in this context.
3) Is probably the biggest thing that is not good with your reviews of Metallica, your attempts at making yourself sound like you know what you're talking about in a musical sense fails in the most infuriating way. You threw in the word triplets a lot in the Ride the Lightning reaction and a couple times here, but sections with triplets you didnt mention at all. That note! You get a sudden excitement over a note....that was repeated 4-5bars ago. Nothing in those sections changed. Calling 4/4 time isnt 80s....its been the "standard" time signature since cavemen picked up tree branches and banged them on rocks.
I made it through the whole review of this album and it was not good. I feel like your thoughts on Metallica keep you from having an opened mind about thier music. When i mentioned your honesty, I think I may of spoke to soon. Your critiques of Lars, James, and Kirk is the same thing everybody says about them. So are you really listening to the album for the first time or are you sharing what you have heard or seen what other people have said and tried to apply it to the classical era of Metallica just to be edgy? I'm in no way trying to change your mind about Metallica...your opinion is yours to hold, but your point is mute when your opinions are not really yours.

Because the cool kids say Metallica sucks and you're supposed to diss them or you aren't a true metal head. It's pretty comical honestly but unfortunately this isn't that uncommon...alot of the metal elitist Metallica haters aren't familiar with most of their stuff.

I know the song master of puppets have been popularised recently. But it's arguably one of the greatest song and lyric melds ever written. It's the the users drug addiction talking to the user. The melody you don't have much interest in is actually the "high" the user is feeling taking the drug and the come down just after and hell it causes with paranoia when it wears off.listen to the lyrics from Metallica. It's fantastic writing from James. And the album is about drugs war religion
