    This was so emotionally driven and so beautifully sang. I truly felt for Nokio at the end. I can only imagine his pain and passion during times like these. May his father and all others who were treated unjustly by law enforcement rest in peace.

    I don't like to get too political, because everyone has their point-of-view, but I will say this: A country built by slaves, the descendants of whom are still CLEARLY being assumed as vicious today as they were even then, will still not admit to the disparity. Each time the brutality becomes too overwhelming to bear, our people RISE through nonviolence, and it enrages those who would rather forget a time of brutality hundreds of years ago, yet will not forget the horror of 9/11. Pain is pain to the people enduring it, no matter whose it is, and when people are this mobilized, there must be validity to the pain. These men of Dru Hill and others do not have to kill to make a point. Police, humans, everyone...when will we take note of THAT type of action? Thank you, Dru Hill.

      You bring up very valid points I never took into consideration(meaning the pain of 911)....you are very right!

    • @lisa_squared
      @lisa_squared 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed on every point except that this is political or simply somebody's "point of view". An opinion is disliking a certain movie or preferring Coke to Pepsi. My humanity or that of any other person is not something that is up for debate. Period.

    I am so sorry what happened to your father, but; I am so happy he produced you and in turn you can have an impact on others; So his encounter with the racist police was not in vain. They call that a system of checks and balance

    Sorry for being an ignorant white guy, but I honestly do want to learn. What is the respectful way to speak about a black person if saying "black person" is deemed racist? I've also heard that saying "African American" is racist because, obviously, they're not Africans. So, what do you say?

    • @lisa_squared
      @lisa_squared 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "African American" just sounds like you're trying too hard and are thinking too consciously about race. Black is just fine but it really depends on the person.

    • @too2great8
      @too2great8 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're not being ignorant if you're being honest in merely asking a question. I personally do not have an issue being called a black person. Some may, and that's something personal, however it doesn't bother me. In a deeper sense I would rather just be an American.

    • @TheRealMake-Make
      @TheRealMake-Make 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sue E Thanks for the reply. I would feel kind of otherworldly if I were referred to as a "German-Dutch-Native American American," but that's what I would be if lineage were incorporated into being politically correct. "Caucasian" sounds like some Jurassic fish of the abyss with a large under-bite and a lamp for a head, so I've come to accept and prefer white.
      too2great8 Thanks for understanding. I'm a little disappointed that my college courses never ventured into Black history, as that would have been equally interesting and disturbing. America has a sordid history and I find myself feeling guilty for the sins of the past--I simply don't understand how one human being could treat another human being with such contempt, whether you're talking about Nazis toward the Jews, whites toward blacks, or Hutus toward Tutsis and Tutsis toward Hutus. It should be mandatory to study the past, even though it would be uncomfortably awkward and hard for all of us to confront. Forgetting the past creates a destiny of repetition.

    Hey fellows, I have another song you guys might want to sing.
    I can hear the Po-lice shouting.....
    "Stop.....you........Thief!!!"
    Now I'm gonna arrest you and you can't leave.
    Criminal put your hands up..... you'll need to post bail. .
    We ain't gonna stop until all the thugs are in jail.
    We ain't gonna stop until all the thugs are in jail.
    If you disrespect us, this will not fly.
    Compliance is the answer and you will not die.

      Kim you need to hear the words again, you clearly missed the point!!! They are singing to bad Cops not All Cops you Jack Ass....Had to have a negative idiot ruin the positive comments.....

    • @kimkerchner1241
      @kimkerchner1241 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carshia Washington Carshia, you also missed the point!!!. My song is to bad thugs, not all thugs, you smearcase. Your negativity has ruined a song that could save lives.
      What you fail to grasp is that when the authority says stop. You stop. You don't argue, or run or try to assault the officer. For those who just don't get it. If you disrespect the authority you are in for a possible butt kicking.
      If you don't comply you might die.
      My song is about saving lives, your song implies the police are racists.

      Kim Kerchner You are a sad case. People like you who chose to ignore that there is a clear difference with who criminals are treated according to the color of their skin are just as bad as though who're actually guilty of those differences and injustices.
