I’m a beginner crocheter and I made this, my first baby blanket for my first great grandchild. The tutorial was great and clear instructions for making this. I enjoyed making this blanket and excited to give it to my granddaughter at her baby shower.

I just finished this blanket and it is beautiful! I will be starting another blanket today but I am having a hard time deciding which one to do, thank you so much for giving me so many lovely choices 🤗
Thank you for your clear instructions and beautiful calm voice. I was chased away from another baby blanket video because I couldn’t stand the high pitch instruction that sounds like screaming to my ears. I can’t thank you enough for your calmness.
Thank you so much!!! I'm so happy you're happy with it! I'm sure your daughter will love it :). Thanks for your wonderful comment and for making my pattern!
Beautiful easy blanket clear instructions and Jo. You are a great teacher you take your time and explain I'm a beginner and I'm making this blanket for my stepdaughter🙂
This is the biggest project I’ve made and I feel so accomplished. I only did two rows of single crochet because I was running low on yarn but it still looks just as cute with the scalloped edge. I can’t wait to give this to my friend’s baby!
I subscribed as i am new to crocheting after 60 years of knitting and am enjoying it. Your instructions on this and other creations are so easy to understand. I have looked at a lot of patterns on TH-cam and yours are the ones who stand out for instructions. I am looking forward to many more creations from you.
I’m not a beginner, but would you believe this is the first time I’ve seen/made anything with this stitch? I’m making a baby blanket for a co-worker with Bernat Baby Sport in light lilac. Very clear instructions, and you’re right: it’s hard to lose your place! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Cheri for your comment! It’s one of those stitches that isn’t used too often but I think makes a beautiful pattern for a blanket and it’s easy to pick up anytime. The light lilac should look beautiful! I hope you enjoy making it!
Thank you. ❤ Ive just finished a lovely blue blanket for my recently arrived grandson. I haven't crocheted since i was ten years old.but it turned out beautifully. 🥰
Thank you. Just started this a second time but ending each row with a single crochet rather than the double crochet making the edge spaces less gaped, looks amazing. Again thank you.
This blanket turned out beautifully! I'm still working on the boarder, but I'm in love. I used a soft pink and gray for a baby due in may. Thankyou so much for sharing such a special blanket with us!
Thanks for this video. I just found out I’m pregnant and I’m going to crochet a gender neutral baby blanket for now. I’m so excited to make baby things!
Oh my goodness, Congratulations!!! Have so much fun. There is something very special about crocheting baby things while pregnant. I’m so excited for you!
Thank you for this sweet pattern and tutorial! Used this for a lovey and a pacifier keeper! Have made other baby blankets that had the shell pattern made with lots of double crochets. They take a ton of yarn and take SO LONG to make! This one has such a wonderful texture and was so fun to crochet! The shell border is similar to others I’ve made … love that this one is finished with a border that gives the edges extra structure! Learned so much from this and had many inspirations as to how to use this for other items. Thanks again!❤️
I never add a shell border because the pattern never seems to work out right. Thank you so much for explaining how to make the adjustments. I can't wait to try this on my next project. Great tutorial!
Thank you very much. Just finished making one for my grandson and it turned out sooo beautiful. You are fantastic and this pattern is gorgeous and so very simple to follow. Thank you again!
That's wonderful!!! Thank you so much for your comment and kind words. I'm so happy your blanket turned out beautiful and you found it simple to follow. Thanks for sharing!
I just finished this blanket for my niece that is due to have a girl in October. It went faster than I anticipated. It’s so pretty with multiple colors of pink. Thanks for sharing!😊 I have 2 more girl blankets to make. I may just do this pattern again.
Made this for a baby gift. Love it! But I did the shell stitch continually even around the corners, and it still turned out nice. Thanks for an easy tutorial!
Thank you for this. It is a great pattern and walk through. I just learned to crochet during 2020 via TH-cam. This made a great blanket for a friend that is fostering a baby and will make a great blanket for the baby to take along wherever she goes.
Glad I found you. First sub from Germany here. I will try this pattern. I crochet and knit baby blankets all year for babies in Romania. You are so quiet and calm. Very comforting.
I can't wait to try this, I'm new to crochet and this is just what you need as a beginner. Really pretty and really simple. (I'm glad I'm not the only person with dog hair problems!)

I noticed that you alternate the direction that you yarn over (I'm only at the first row part of the video), is this for design, structure, or is just the way you tend to go about it?
Hi, I alternate stitches between single crochet and double crochet but yarn over in the same direction. I would be happy to provide more information if you’d like to email me at jototheworldcreations@gmail.com and I can answer any questions you have! Thanks!
I was a bit nervous starting this blanket for a really good friend of mine. Shes having her first baby and wanted to make aomething special for her. But your instructions are so clear and easy to follow!! Thank you so much ❤
This is lovely but i will struggle using such a large hook with DK weight yarn, has anyone used a smaller hook. Please an how did it turn out. Many Thanks
Hello! Hopefully others can chime in on their experience using a smaller hook. I designed this blanket pattern to use a larger hook with a lightweight yarn, which makes a blanket flow nicely and have excellent drape. You are of course welcome to try a different hook size and do whatever works best for you! I personally found that using a much smaller hook (you might not see too much a difference going down one or two hook sizes) made the stitches tighter and more dense and the fabric more stiff. But feel free to experiment with different hook sizes as it all depends on how tightly to crochet and the yarn you use. You can always make a small swatch (ch 25 and follow the pattern) to see what it looks like with different hook sizes and decide what you like best!
@@jototheworldcreations I do. My go to for baby blankets was always the shell stitch until I did a baby blanket for a friend’s daughter that was worried that a crochet blanket would cause toe tangles for the baby. I seen the seed stitch pattern and tried it. It worked up easily and fast.
That's great! I haven't heard this particular combinations of stitches called the seed stitch before. I've always seen it called the Lemon Peel stitch. However, I know there are lots of different names for the same combinations of stitches :).

Making this blanket and it’s coming out beautiful! I wanted to change colors for the border / shell edges (pink on inside with a white border/ shell). Do you think I should just cut the string after my last regular row, tie the white string on to the end of the pink, and proceed with white starting on the border row? Trying to decide what will look the best, thank you so much!
Hello! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Yes, you can change colors after finishing the last row of the blanket body. I change colors by placing the new color on my hook and pulling it through the loop of the current color on my hook. Then you can fasten off the old color and start the border with the new color. Happy crocheting!

Thanks for your interest in this pattern! This pattern was designed and tested using size 3 yarn and an K hook. You are welcome to try it using a different size yarn and different hook, but the overall look, size and amount of yarn required may be different.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear that. While you’re welcome to try different hook sizes, please note that the pattern will turn out differently.
