      It looks really dope. My only issue is exporting from it. I know I would use it to start ideas and finish them in Ableton. After reading through the guide it doesn't seem like there is an easy way to export stems from it. For me it looks fun but isn't really anything I would have to have. If they add some stem exporting via usb and a connected software, i'd really consider getting one.

    I started getting into producing last year with the m8, NDS(korg), and later added laptop DAW and Roland S1. I enjoy sketching and composing in both dawless and hybrid setup. S1 let me record notes into m8 but no velocity. As a kid I always wanted an MPC but could never afford one. This checked all the boxes for me and I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.

    I actually sold my SP404 MK2 for this, haha. Watching people work it and create things in seconds vs. the hectic workflow of the SP404 made me realize that I value creating something rather than the power of the tool. The SP404 is a sampler behemoth, I love it, but just so annoying, clumsy, time consuming, and more. It was just becoming an effects rack, and sadly, I don't really need it THAT much for that. I can see myself actually creating a lot more with this than the SP due to it's workflow.

    I like how you can quantize by holding a button down - so you can just do a section of a track.

    Looks like a very nice change of pace for T.E. - an affordable supercharged pocket operator. Can't see this really competing with other full blown samplers though - at the end of the day it's still a pocket operator workflow. The sonicware stuff is is more of a swiss-army knife with a ton of connectivity, gigabytes of storage, velocity sensitive pads, automation lanes, etc - but I can see them playing well together as part of a mobile setup for sure.

    I'm intrigued by this, with the price of their OP-1 I'm confused by this. I know it's nothing like the OP-1, but all of their products except that pocket one cost a grip. So I have a really dumb question, like extremely dumb. I use MPC software right now, I had an MPC One but sold it to pay some bills. But the guy I sold it to didn't want the software so it's what I still use. I'm wanting to get back into using a machine of some sort though. Forgive my question as I obviously don't have a solid grasp on shit here. If I hook this up to a computer via USB, would I be able to sync the MIDI data from whatever I was working on to the MPC software? I know how MIDI in/out works but I don't have an audio interface right now and am trying to figure out if this + USB would be enough. Or if I'd need a MIDI interface too. I do plan to get one but my budget is limited now so I'm trying to just get what I need to make some beats.
    I know shit like this works, but I've never had anything except a midi keyboard so I'm not sure how this sampler would tie in with the MPC software. I'd like to be able to load samples on it, and make some beats on the go. Then hook it back up to the computer and do any tweaking and finish in the software. If this is doable just using USB-C? I know another MPC One would be ideal. But I can't afford an MPC One, and this has batteries + portability. And it's an oddly sexy piece of kit.
    Again, I apologize for my question, I can make some decent beats, but I don't really have a grasp on how things work unless it's like MPC+MPC software. Or a MIDI controller and Reason. I'm assuming this would work as a MIDI controller when hooked up with USB. But I'm not exactly sure what I can do with what I created on it when not connected to a PC when I hook it up. Something like something to play with for now would be awesome. I was gonna get an MPC Studio in a few weeks, but this is only $100 more and looks pretty damn sick. If any smart person here has any words for me here, thanks and stuff.

    The first Teenage Engineering device that not only looks cool as hell (who doesn't like 80ies calculators)but is reasonably priced as well and seems to come with the right balance of features, although I wish it had a proper arranging/song mode. No wonder it is already sold out on their website, its must-have gadget factor is through the roof!

    You Rope-a-Doped us pretty good, bruh: your thumbnail said to me that you HATED it! So, I checked out some other vids first, and my conclusion was: I absolutely LOVE it! The Bone White/Grey/Orange color scheme, the layout, the sound, the features, the PRICE!!
    Then I watched your vid, and saw it was nothing but a fakeout. Ali indeed.
    Seriously: as soon as I can spare $300, I'm getting one. I don't even need it, but because it looks so fun, and sounds so good, I will get one. So, yeah, I agree with you: Teenage Engineering has heard the complaints, and they're replying. Now all we gotta do is to get Elektron to hear the same thing-THEN we'll truly have a paradigm shift on our hands!

    I have an op1f and I like it, but seeing this makes me think they need to update and add features to op1field immediately. For the price, it doesn’t have half of the sampling abilities this does, including any form of beat sync or quantize. It desperately needs a lot of quality updates

  • @SiliconPrairie

    The price roasting finally got to them. Funnily enough, they're probably still making 50%+ profit margins. Not a bad sampler, though. It seems like an advanced Volca sample and a couple of effects units all in one.

    I like it, it's neat, I think it'll definitely find a home here in geartube; TE knew what they were doing with that look. Not gonna lie it's a gorgeous device.
    But at the same time an SP-404 MKII can be easily gotten now for sub $500, which to me isn't too much of a jump from $299 if you're looking for a smaller-ish sampler.

    • @victor-hi2uw
      @victor-hi2uw 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was pretty much set on getting an SP-404 MKII before I saw this, but now I'm not so sure. Being that you are an SP-404 owner, what do you think the 404 has that the EP 133 doesn't (based on what we know about it right now)?

    • @syntheticErik
      @syntheticErik 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@victor-hi2uw Obviously I've got as much to go on as anyone else. I think Cuckoo's video is the best deep dive currently available but not everyone likes his style.
      The opinion part:
      IMO the EP-133 is less of a serious sampler and more of a sample player with some rudimentary sampling functionality. That's not to say it's a less serious device, just with a different purpose in mind. The EP-133 seems more geared towards loading and jamming with pre-prepared samples and loops, whereas the SP has deep manipulation capabilities on the device itself, both for one shot samples and chopping loops. The EP has far less effects than the SP in its current state but that's not really a fair comparison to make, the SP has an almost comical over-abundance of effects. The EP has separate punch in effects though, kind of a borrowed concept from the PO-33 that there's really not a comparison to on the SP. MIDI implementation for notes is kind of trash on both devices, but's it also seems like it's a little bit of an afterthought on both devices. These are just my observations though.
      The numbers part:
      From a specs standpoint the two devices are oddly similar in some regards and very different in others. The biggest differences are in Sample Slots, Memory, and Polyphony.
      Taken directly from both spec sheets:
      The EP has 999 sample slots, the SP has 2,560,
      The EP has 64MB of memory, the SP has 16GB and is expandable via SD card
      The EP has 6 voice stereo polyphony or 12 voice mono, the SP has 32 voice polyphony
      Last part I'm not sure about, but the EP seems to only be able to store 9 projects at once, the SP can store 16
