I was in high school with that playing in the background while I was on the phone rappin to my girl. Man them was the days, it s a smooth jam never to be duplicated.
The day this ST episode aired, Bootsy and Parliament/Funkadelic played a Mothership Connection concert outside at School Stadium in Newark NJ. And we went.
He, and the whole band were so unbelievably great. A few years ago the funniest thing happened with this song. I'm a female painter & was working in Upstate NY on this gorgeous big, modern farmhouse. It was a really hot day & the contractor I was working for was a loud woman who was annoying AF. There was another woman planting plants while we were painting and it was dead quiet. The house had big Sonos speakers outside & I went in to put on my playlist... So Bootsy comes on with this song and we're all just working quietly while it's blasting out over the many acres of property. Finally at one point the contractor yells at the top of her lungs "What the F--k are we listening to!!?" I laughed on & off for the rest of the day. Just one of those funny little moments in life, and now I can't hear it without being right back there.
Yea, I was at the concert at School Stadium too. They ripped the shit out of it as well as PFunk! One to remember! Walked back 20 blocks to get my ride back Vauxhall, and still heard the concert jamming in my ears! REAL TALK!
I don’t know when it was, maybe junior high - but I was flipping channels on TV one weekend and saw this bizarre man with a bass and star-shaped sunglasses looking like he was having the greatest time in the world. That’s how I was exposed to true, pure, authentic funk and the love of it has never left me. What an amazing, creative, and brilliant man.
rappers on stage, nobody with musical talent, just runnin' they mouth talkin' bout niggas and bitches and "I love money," Fuck a nigga, Fuck a bitch... I'm glad I grew up in the 1960s and 70s. REAL rhythm and blues soul music for REAL Soul people.
Ahhh…..the name is bootsy baby and BOOTSY?…player of the year is my all time favorites from him and last but not least Bootsy rubber band Stretching Out album 💿. Bootsy is an underrated bass player, musician and artist. His Grammy is overdue
not2 take away from the rubberband, but If u really wanna play this live u'd need jerome brailey and bernie worrell, garry shider, as well as mike hampton. I no bootsy loved his slow songs, this is one of the best ones he wrote, but due2 those facts, thts probably why he never did it live
Good old days I miss them so much
