It’s time for something different this week - my first attempt at scratch building, albeit a very basic structure….
I wanted to make the coaling tower look a bit more substantial as it is small compared to the size of the loco yard so I’ve made a lean-to to create some cover for the labourers unloading the coal wagons.
It’s also meant that I have had to change some of the track work on the turntable to allow room for realistic sidings.
Let’s see how I got on!

Thank you! Cheers!
Well, this channel has been an unexpected discovery, as well as a very pleasant one.
Thanks very much 😊
Great job
Thank you 👍
Looking good. I wonder what it would be like with a few birds trying to nest on it. 😊
Ha. Is that something else to add to ‘the list’… 👍
Nice scratchbuild looks amazing. You should be pleased with that 😉👍🏼. Yeah, we all made that mistake of ballasting before we checked the running of the track🙄😬. Now subscribe to your channel 👍🏼
Wow, thank you very much. Really appreciated 👍
Hi Andy, what a lovely little project and what a good job you’ve made of it. I know it seems the coaling tower caused you a few problems in terms of the track arrangements but it’ll be worth the faff in the mate.
Hope you’re recovering, cheers for now, John
Thanks John. All part of the fun!! Take care, Andy
Very nice.
Thank you 👍
Just found your channel keep it up ❤❤
Thank you very much 😊
It's just looking so good as you add each step onto the layout.....
Thanks very much 👍
Excellent work. The roof addition looks as thought it was part of the original kit. I do enjoy watching your skills producing a quality layout.
Thank you very much! My first attempt at scratch building so wasn’t sure how it would turn out! Regards, Andy
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt I can only speak what I see. I would love a layout like you have. Mine is only 1900x1100.
Absolutely brilliant piece of modelling, thanks as ever for sharing.
Thanks very much. That’s my first attempt at scratch building! 👍
A brilliant bit of scratch building and a great addition, I particularly like the corrugated roof
Thanks very much 👍
More great modelling. As @dinmorejunctionmodelrailway said, it looks as though it was part of the original kit. A seamless extension and a great addition. As for the double sided tape for the turntable surround, that was a good choice and a great idea in the first place. As ever its good to see the layout progress. Regards, Geoff.
Thank you Geoff. Credit where credit’s due -I took your lead with the double sided tape! 👍
Loving your work keep it up
Thank you. Appreciate it! 👍
