I agree with your sentiment “it just wasn’t worth the risk”, I feel it is a fundamental flaw of many online racers that they simply do not know their own skill level or capabilities. Race hard, race firm and fair but ultimately understand your own strengths and weaknesses and choose your battles wisely, which you did! 👊🏻
Yeah, I made a point of trying to explain my reasoning, as I know quite a few people get frustrated at me for not driving aggressively enough! But yeah, I’m always keen not to push beyond my capabilities. Definitely pick and choose my battles wisely! Cheers
Absolutely a great run! You’re making me want to run this series but I’m nowhere near good enough of the road for this. Good race management by you to race the track and yourself and not get caught up in battles you’re not needing to fight. Great production as always on the video!
Thank you Chad, how’s your racing going? I’ve kinda dipped in and out of iRacing, just having the odd race once every few weeks, and my form has really suffered. I’m trying to start racing in it weekly again, try to get more value out of my subscription and also to rediscover some of the pace I’ve lost!
@@chrisrogerssimracing My racing has been hit or miss I feel like. I've taken a huge dip in iRating due to others mistakes and aggressiveness. To be honest, I've considered other racing platforms but I'm sure the same shenanigans go on. I also haven't had a ton of time to really commit to racing much lately either.
Great video as always, I love the sim racing commentary and prospective of a casual racer with a day job and limited time. It's not a well represented area of the player base. Also I was definitely not expecting a shout out but when I finally decide to pull the trigger on iracing your link was the only 1 that I would have used. Maybe some day I'll catch you on track. Yep I think you’re right, and it’s exactly the reason I didn’t want to defend. This track puts you right off line if you try to defend, you end up running wider on exit and more likely to lose the rear trying to over-correct. Glad I played it safe 🤣 cheers mate
Similar pace to you Chris and I had a decent race, got shunted at the hairpin but the shunter ended up t-boning the barrier next lap. I was happy to survive and get 7th tbh. I felt well off the pace as well. Crikey, you had way more carnage than me, and I bet I was a lower split than you! You must be some sort of carnage magnet.
Great content as always. I would like to see you defend a little harder. By showing no defence at all I feel like you're inviting some of those late dive bombs. Obviously no point defending on the straight when they're alongside, but some of those divebombs were from a car length back.
Yeah, I did kinda invite those divebombs in the end. I was watching them closely in my mirror, could see them sizing up a possible move up the inside. It’s quite likely they weren’t intending to dive - they were just trying to spook me. But because I wasn’t 100% sure they weren’t going to lunge, I didn’t want to take the chance of closing the door. I knew they were faster, it was early in the race, didn’t want to risk a guaranteed top 10. The real thing I need to address is practice before races… if I could just spend some more time doing laps, I could find the extra few tenths I need to be able to get stuck in. Gonna try and drive the car more regularly, so I can re-learn it 🤞
@Chris Rogers Sim Racing you're right, there is absolutely no substitute for practice, I can improve my lap times by up to a send after half an hour of hot lapping before a race.
Dodging is a skill! Give the Ray FF1600 A try on iRacing. This week is Jerez, great track combo. I have a decent set up, check it out if you want to try the new car
It’s a skill I’ve had to learn! I haven’t bought Jerez yet but I’m certainly planning to. Raced the FF1600 last week and it was great fun, will definitely be doing a few more.
My sim rankings will change on an almost weekly basis! I’d probably stick iRacing top, just because of the ability to get an evenly matched grid 24/7. As someone who can’t often race at peak times, that’s a real bonus. I really like RaceRoom and rF2, but online participation is low. ACC is good, but a bit too specialist and requires more hours than I’ve got to be able to get good in it!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I had Raceroom was dead good on my old ts xw wheel but just get it dialed in right on my new moza r9 . I avoided getting iracing for a while mainly coz of cost but since I made the jump I really enjoy it , I’m budget conscious so far all I brought is Nords , zolder Bathurst , Watkins glen,road America,road atlanta and serbring Only car Porsche 911 gt3

Congrats on your 7th Mike, particularly after getting hit. There’s no time for rest around this circuit, very quick and tight!
