Well, l can't say discontinue since it was only made in 2018. But l understand your question. I have no idea why VW only made this car for 1 year. Honestly, l am kinda happy they did because l selfishly love being 1 of only a few to own one, and you rarely see them. I bought mine in July 2018 with 38 miles. 6 years later and I've only seen this car 10/11 times. Lastly, l absolutely love this vehicle. I get looks everyday, with other high end sedan vehicles owners dying to pull beside me to check it and race it. Simply because it is so much more physically beautiful than their vehicle. So, I'm keeping my platinum gray GT. Only has 66k miles, in excellent condition, and just paid it off.
Hi Andrew, awesome vid. Now that I've seen the Passat GT outside of an auto show, it looks quite cool to take such large sedan and have it stand out by its noticeably sporty appearance. I've always viewed the Passat as conservative but not this GT. Again, excellent review.
Yes, the Jetta gives you the Virtual dash on the higher trims... I think SEL & up.... Maybe this one will get it when the 2019 model comes out who knows... But yea exhaust sound surprised me too!
@@goldpony - Not until the new 2020 model comes out late next year. For 2019 there will only be two models for the last year of the current car. On the low end is the Wolfsburg edition. On the high end is the SE with R-Line package. Both with only the 2.0 liter turbo. The VR6 is now history in the Passat and will soon be history in the Atlas as well as VW is shutting down production of the engine in favor of the turbo-4 just like most of their competitors.
Almost sounds as good as an R32 just wish VW would have also used the R line package not a fan of everything being blacked out. Plus they really need to give use the new Passat. Good review though. 😎
Ehhh.....now if they could update the Golf's powertrain and bring it into our century....STILL A 5SPD .......and you can do almost 125 Kms (or like.. what is it 75 MPH?) IN SECOND GEAR....and the engine is out of puff in the rest of the cogs....

Was the rear PASSAT badge deletion standard on the GT?
Yes. The only place you'll find Passat on this car is on the dash.
