Thanks for watching! What did you think? See the full review here: th-cam.com/video/Zc7dH6EtRyw/w-d-xo.html It’s faster than I expected in a straight line...but after that the steering/handling were a little disappointing. It’s still a good value for the speed/power but could certainly use some updates!
Since the GT was only built for 4-5 months of the 2018 model year and doesn't continue into the 2019 or 2020 model years those who were able to pick up one of these great deals on wheels last year will be driving around in a rare car.
I think many get confused thinking that this is a full on sports car. It's targeted to drivers who want to buy a practical car for family daily drive but also want to have a slight sportiness in it without losing its daily driver comfort.
I drove one and loved it. After about 2 months though I traded it in. The lack of tech blew my mind. No integrated navi, no adaptive cruise, no lane keep assist. Kia Optima SX-T has all those options I found I was missing in the Passat GT.
I installed a larger rear sway bar and new end links on mine. Definitely handles flatter and better in the corners! The car still needs better tires and dampers to be a proper GT, which I will do soon;)
@Omar Zaki H&R 24mm adjustable (installed it on soft setting) with 034 Motorsports end links. You have to upragde the end links, or the stock ones will fail with a bigger bar.
The steering in Passats may be lightweight but the great thing about it is that it goes exactly where you want it to go and you don't really have to make many steering corrections while driving
I have had mine for 2 weeks now, absolutely agree on the MPG, getting just over 17 on the street and I did a 100 mile road trip on the freeway and averaged 26.2 but both instances driving like an old man and not really opening her up. funny, for me the #1 thing for me about the car is the exhaust note. Handling leaves a bit to be desired, already have proper lowering springs on order. The radio is a bit lacking and Android Auto seems rather plain to me. Other than those couple minor things the car is a blast and I am glad I bought it.
fun times with Tom I have one also. MT 3rd passat and I didn't want to look like everyone else. The lease returns are coming in and they are a bargain for secondary markets. I may have to find a 4 banger soon as I really liked the mpg. Great warranty tho. Missing some tech. Some ppl claim to have auto start...not sure how they got that
I haven’t driven a Stinger but from what I’ve seen, I’d take the Stinger since it has RWD it AWD and just more updated all around. Passat GT is technically faster In a straight line though.
Kia is sending my a car in August and if I don’t crash it hopefully I can get a Stinger next lol. I reached out to my local Kia place again..and no luck but I’ll keep trying
If only the Passat Rline had the the V6 engine it would be the perfect car. I am the owner of a 2017 Passat Rline. What I dislike about the GT is: -the two tone seats -steering feel and its lack of a sporty feel -the missing analog clock above the infotainment sys -the limitation of colors to only black or white GT. How about red or Urano Gray? Fuse the GT and the RLine!!!!!
Definitely should have had red as one of the color options. Previous model year Passats also had optional 2-tone seats and the Passat Sport model also had a black roof. You do know that the clock is missing on ALL 2018 and later model Passats, right? The 2018 GT is the last Passat that will have the VR6 engine as VW is phasing it out over the next couple of years. Even the Atlas will lose it eventually.

Yep that’s true. Even though I was critical of it there...it’s still pretty fun to drive!
Passat definitely needs a refresh. Awesome vid once again 😉
Agreed! Thank you very much 👍
I actually on this exact model. FYI the DSG is far superior vs VW volume 8 speed auto.
I'm in canada i have a colored display on the dash in my gt ??? Wierd
Just a note the 6 speed it’s a dsg the 8 speed it’s a regular tranny do your home work don’t just get on it and coment plz thankz
Agreed, there's a reason VW uses the DSG in the GTI. It's a superior unit for performance - the eight speed is the fuel economy alternative.

Glad to hear it! It’s a good value and you can definitely have some fun with it. Thanks for watching and enjoy your GT!

Passat GT or Kia Stinger Base model ?

I'll wait for the Stinger review as it is a car I would seriously consider getting one of these days.

Nice, good to hear your thoughts! I agree with you too, especially the V6 RLine
The GT is also available in Platinum Grey and Reflex Silver
