    Two good things about the 2018 VW Passat - 1.) It has a CD player. Most other 2018 vehicles have dropped the CD player. 2.) Higher front seat. It's front seat isn't as low to the ground as most other 2018 sedans which makes it much easier to get in out of, and gives you a better view of the road when driving it.

    I get looks all the time. Uber purchased hundreds of the 2014-2015 lease turn ins and flooded new Orleans with them. I has a nice 15 SE but went to the GT because of the similar looks of those other models. The GT package stands out.

      VW bought back my 2013 Passat TDI (I loved that car!) last year . I'm glad I was patient and didn't replace it right away because I just bought a white GT for $24,600. What a bargain!

      If you really want one you'd better find one soon as there will be no 2019 GT.

    Great review, Mike! It's great to see so many engine choices and that backseat is so spacious, you hardly looked 6'4" back there. I'm really enjoying my Dual Motor Model 3, but this Passat is a real bargain in comparison. You can't really compare apples to oranges and I'm not sure if I could purchase a car from the diesel-gate company.

    Nice review. Hopping to get the Passat GT VR6 soon. Had a 2004 Golf R32 and lost it to a bad storm wanted to get another R32 or Corrado SLC VR6 but the prices of the car's are wayyy to rich for my wallet. The Passat GT VR6 is more bang for your buck if you're a fan of the VR6 engine like I am.

    Passat needs a "hook" against Camry and Accord. One thing would be to have all wheel drive.

      Only the new 2019 Nissan Altima offers that in this class.

    If they wanted to really address the criticisms this was intended for, they should have made the euro version available.

    • @waltherppx6314
      @waltherppx6314 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would have driven the price above it's market competition. That was the problem with the 2010 and earlier Passat (there was no 2011 Passat in the US). It was always priced higher that the competition and most buyers payed less for a Honda, a Nissan, a Hyundai, etc., etc.

    If you compare this Passat with the european version this one looks 2 generations older. Early 2000 Passat. If they can’t sell this car there is a reason. Poor Design, reliability not as good as a Camry or Accord and when you go to re-sell it nobody wants it and the value drops down.

    • @waltherppx6314
      @waltherppx6314 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, this car was specifically designed for the North American market and is built in the US. The US Passat doesn't look all that different than the Euro version (which is supposedly on a newer/better platform). The US Passat looks much like the previous generation Audi A6. The 2018 model Passat also comes with VW's new 6 year/72K mile bumper-to-bumper warranty which I don't believe is available in Europe.

      Resale value on my GT is currently higher than a Camry or Accord. No reliability issues whatsoever after 3.5 years and 40k miles. Not sure what the hate is about.

      Well that number was clearly wrong because my car has been appreciating year over year since the initial drop when I bought it in 2018. Now it shows worth $24k which is like $1k less than I paid for new... With 40k miles on the odometer currently
