    @NorCal715 I have repaired hundreds of these just a heads up the repairs are straight forward as you have shown. But please know that the HDMI board on these fail all the time and I have also repaired hundreds of those. So make sure you let the customer know that the output repair can be done but don’t be surprised when the HDMI board starts to get flaky shortly after the repair. Why because that is how it always goes when a repair person works on something. Another thing you will want to do is tighten all the transistor screws. Trust me they will all be loose and I sometimes think this is why they fail; they don’t have good contact and just over heat.
    Thanks again for sharing your knowledge I am sure helps a lot of people.

      Will do thanks for the heads up. I plan on ESRing the caps on the hdmi board also when parts arrive.

      This comment saved me a bunch if time. I couldn't figure out why it was kicking out. Turns out it's knly hdmi kicking out. Where would I find a replacement board. Or is there a test for this?

      Cancel that. It just runs longer with tuner mode. Still kicks out. Any ideas?

    Having same issue, this is helpful, thanks!

  • @FulvioGa

    In case this has to go to the landfill then you can make an attempt to cut the bottom of the case just around the zone where you have to work using a Dremmel with a cutting disc for metal, just being careful to not let the cutting wheel to enter more than a millimeter inside the bottom panel.

    • @FulvioGa
      @FulvioGa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then the problem would be how to close the opening, and this would require some job, you would need some metal sheet strips to solder around the cut piece and then solder them to the bottom plate, and that would require a very powerful solderer.

    Very Interesting , I have had this exact receiver from new , never had an issue with it in the 12 years I've had it (Bought June 2008).I know others have had CAP problems on the top HDMI Switching board. Perhaps I've just been lucky I guess.
    I suspect if I wanted to keep the receiver longer and improve the sound quality , I could replace the CAPS on the lower board with better ones , if that is the amp board, with something like Mundorf E Caps or M Caps.

    I purchased this model used about 7 years ago and it's served me well up until now. It's starting to make loud popping noises in every speaker. I've swapped all wires and done as much trouble shooting as I know how to do, then found your video. I think my unit is done. In your description it mentioned something about donating units and keeping stuff like this out of landfills. I like the idea of this, but curious if you're still interested in something like this for parts, etc.

    I have the exact same unit with the same fault but no heat marks on the transistors but it appears the front right transistor has failed using the meter. My unit lasted 11 years.

  • @izzzzzz6
    @izzzzzz6 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dismantling is not that bad. You keep the back panel attached and just disconnect a few cables from the front, then the entire internal structure lifts out as one. There is just enough cable to stand it on it's side over the transformer. Watch the last cable doesn't fold over as it wraps over the transformer while you lay the assembly down on it's side. I'm going to have to watch part 2 now to see if he works it out.
    Oh no, he didn't, copy and paste!

    Thanks for the video 🙌🏻🙌🏼 Very clearly explained.
    Mine is the tx-600E, puh-leese tell me there a factory reset, press a couple buttons ... and voila?
    I went into 'protect' after I connected the sub there was popping, and from then on, just switches off straight away.
    Your part two is playing now - I really don't know.. it could easily come out worse if I have to do all that 😭😭
    t t prior to that there was no sound atl. art 2 is on right now.

    Cut a hole in the bottom of the thing with a dremel, I've done that before, the customer won't notice, just put some kind of cover on it when finished.

    • @icuranis4597
      @icuranis4597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A great deal of the time, the incorrect speaker types are substituted. These units often end up in flea markets without the correct speakers. They generate a great deal of heat by design and over the years, incur multiple solder joint cracks.

  • @saddle1940
    @saddle1940 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's a HDMI unit, I'd be surprised if the customer didn't want it fixed, but then again, I don't know the replacement cost or the quote you'd have to set for the work involved. Are Sanken MP130S/MN130S transistors easily available for quick delivery where you are (weeks to get them in Aus).

      Start with a full reset. Usually in the instruction / owners manual. You usually have to hold 2 or 3 keys down while powering up the unit. Let me know how it goes.

    Hi, I also have a receiver of this model, and the current problem has no video output signal, whether it is HDMI or color difference, or video output. I know that the HDMI board is a common problem with this model and I have replaced the 5 capacitors on the HDMI board. Please tell me where I should check. Thanks!

    Just clip off bad components, the system will probably start working. Who cares about surround channels anyway!

    • @JFisher-kl5fx
      @JFisher-kl5fx ปีที่แล้ว

      @NorCal715 That raises a new question: What if I do use my surround channels but never use my *back* channels (6 & 7 in a 7.1 unit). So if my surround burnt out, then can I "clip out" (cannibalize) parts from my unused *back* and use them to replace what's burnt?

    Cheap and poor service access. Possible operator error. Yes I love home theater. Too many years of audio video. These were not remarkable receivers. Not made to last. Mine lasted two years. Sounded pretty decent. But was the last receiver I would buy before going to quality separates. Never will buy an AVR again. Also what was the protection circuit doing?
