Volunteering at Cheetah Experience, watched an entertaining battle between Kinji, an eight month Cheetah Cub and Chloe, a low tolerance female Jack Russell Terrier. It's non aggressive, at least from Kinji's standpoint, he just wants to play and teases Chloe, but Chloe takes it more serious, even pinching his lips many times. This goes on every week.
Kinji is one of the most adorable Cheetahs cubs I've had the pleasure to encounter and interact with. He does bite WAY to hard at times but I love his attitude. He tries and succeeds in making friends with ALL the animals within his reach. He's befriended other larger Cheetah cubs, baby Cheetah cubs, Anatolian Sheppard dog, several adult Cheetahs, meerkats, and even a leopard. It's just Chloe and another smaller dog he just can't seem to win over. So he just teases them. He's fast enough to escape their wrath.
I have another fascinating video of Kinji coming later. He is very bright and playful. There is a toy box outside where all the toys are stored. A large wooden box. Kinji knows the sound of the lid closing and will come running to pick out one of his toys from the box... himself! He clambers inside and scoops out a different toy each time. The only problem is he won't put them back.
Kinji is an adorable Cheetah cub but surprisingly, he does not purr much. I only heard him purr a few times in the weeks I spent there. The Meerkats, food, and occasionally toys make him purr. At the end of this video, you can here his nearly inaudible purr. I'm laying down with him with one of his toys he picked out from the cat toy box and he purrs.

I have a chihuahua shes classed as a teacup (the smallest size) she's about 2lbs yet shes not afraid to defend my mom from my extremely friendly (he licks anything) 200lb Labrador (he's classed as a king cause of his size)

Kinji is just the cutest. I love him. It's so funny that he wants to make friends with the meerkats and the dog, but ends up being overexcited and sort of annoying them. Goes to show kids will be kids in any species! So adorable. 😍
Glad you love Kenji. I sponsored him 100% some years back and gave him to Cheetah Experience so he would not be sold at an auction by the owners. Kenji is very bright and the smartest cheetah I've encountered so far.

actually cheetahs would never attack a human, there hasn't been not even one death in human history from cheetahs.They show zero agressiveness towards humans, despite being a wild animal (I wouldn't say the same about other wild cats tho). On the other hand, plenty of deaths have happened by dogs. A pitbull just recently almost ripped the face off of a walking 10 year old kid for literally no reason.
@@floweryunicorn8888 I know this will sound hard to believe but Pitbulls are actually calm and gentle animals. The cases where you hear about Pitbull attack is usually because they been trained or abused. Remember that a Pitbull's jaw locks when they bite which would make them good attack dogs. I don't know what goes on when it comes to training an attack dog let alone a Pitbull but for a Pitty it probably involves teaching it to be more aggressive. The Pitbull in your story was probably abused.

That is what they were bred for, keeping wild animals away from the expensive bloodhounds. Bears, wolves, boars or bucks, they only chose the dogs that did not care for this breed.
That is also why breeders wanted them to be white with spots. It makes the aiming at the pray easier.

Anyone who thinks this video is problematic doesn't know much about animals and hasn't spent time around them. They clearly know each other and are generally comfortable. It's just that Chloe is obviously an adult and a bit annoyed in the video at the big kitten who keeps pestering her when she's not in the mood to play. And she handles it the way animals handle things. :)

Some of the commenters must think cheetahs are leopards... Cheetahs are light weight, nimble, and cautious animals. Their advantage is speed and their prey drive only kicks in when they see an animal flee. They aren't strong enough to wrestle with most animals and their instinct is to run from animals who act aggressive. This dog is smaller than an antelope (which weigh about 60 lbs and are a cheetah's typical prey) but it won't run and canines are always aggressive and fight back. I think the jack russel is a good playmate because a medium or large dog might actually hurt the cheetah which isn't built for rough housing. I know they look big, but with their hollow bones and other speed based adaptations, they really aren't prepared for a fight.
Actually, any size dog, makes for a good playmate with Cheetahs. As long as they bond, or grow up together. Cheetahs can handle playing, or wrestling with big dogs just fine.

You have to go out, find the animal... watch, learn.
You forgot to take into account the fact that these little buddies probably grew up together and it is a cheetah in captivity, less prone to being territorial or hungry. If the cheetah were hungry or felt the dog was in it's territory it would rip the little wiener apart. They are not weak at all. They are lighter and more nimble than most large cats but that doesn't magically exempt them from being a ferocious predator when they feel threatened. Your comment just makes it sound like the cat is scared and weaker than the dog.

Best dog breed, IMO. I've had them over 20 years. Based on my experience, Chloe isn't trying hard to bite Kinji, she's just letting him know to bug off. If she wanted to really bite him, she would. It would be lightning fast and she would keep trying until she got hold of him, then she wouldn't let go! The fact that she stops so quickly let's you know she's not serious.

Every cat breeds extremely cute whether they are wild or domesticated. But I’m in love with cheetahs in particular. As you know they’re endangered species , so we should make an awareness in the societies and support the foundations, establishments and institutions whose main responsibility is saving cheetas from being endangered ones.

Brian As a Christian, I believe in the lion laying down with the lamb, but we are far from that today. Cats cannot produce a certain acid that is essential in good health. Meat is the only source. Also they need B12 which must come from protein, either in eggs or milk. You can supplement this manually. There was one lion that refused meat and even some house cats, but this lion was NOT the epitome of health. Thanks for commenting.
+Brian Felines are obligate carnivores. Feed one a vegan diet and it will die of malnutrition. Don't be fooled by the sight of a housecat eating grass - they eat it because they Can't digest it, and it acts as a laxative, helping them pass hairballs. You can get by with feeding a dog veggies, but dogs and cats are two different species, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for the other. Feeding any feline a vegan diet is sentencing it to death.
+Brian Cats are meat eaters. An animals diet can largely be determined by the teeth and gastrointestinal track configuration and chemistry. Forgot to mention, even though they are carnivores they prey on herbivores and obtain pre-digested vegetable matter from the offal of the herbivore. So a captives cats diet should consist of vegetable matter mixed with meat and offal for optimal health. Ideally natural prey.

You can see move of Kenji, or small snippets of him if you follow Cheetah Experience FB. I saw a cameo of him this week when he moved into his new camp in Bela Bela SA this week. Gabriel was in there too.. eating in his new camp 1st time. I can't show Kenji anymore as he is not mine and the owners asked me not too. Only Gabriel. Gabriel will be moving to Running Wild Conservation before years end and have new friends to film and show!

I dont know if you all guys have learn something about animal behavior, but what I see its a young cheetah following its leader, the old dog, and this one exercising dominion (#1:13). In animal world, strong and size are the lasts things that really matter. If dont, crocs, elephants and giraffes will rock, but this doesn´t always happen. In a wolfpack not always the stronger is the leader, usually the leader is the older. When that dog gets too old, the adult cheetah will lead. This idea that in animal life size matters is no longer valid.

@@infoforu3455 You made me look... It is two yearling cheetahs behind a fence near the end. That is brother and sister.... Jabeze and Jasmine. BOTH have been released into a protective wild now in South Africa. Jabeze and another male are in a smaller controlled game range and will be released into a larger one, once they prove themselves survivalists on their own. Ashia Cheetah has released them.

I've grown up with these around me. I got a new pup last year. I wouldn't have any other breed. They are fearless, intelligent, loyal beyond words. Fantastic beast.

ifyoueverfind78 don’t think it would go down that easily, it may, but cheetahs are rush style so the slink up and try to get as many attacks as possible, dogs use different tactics, it’s hard to say but it wouldn’t be too easy, withought sneaking up and rushing.
Maybe a dog that small but any medium-large or bigger dog could easily kill a cheetah, Cheetahs are pretty weak as far as wildcats go
