    Love your videos! Zaner-Bloser for handwriting made cursive so easy for my 2nd grader. Finding these secular homeschool curriculum videos is so hard. So glad to see a fellow Secular Homeschool TH-camr.

      @HomeschoolOfBelAir  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I remember when I was learning cursive it was always in a slant which I always felt it made it easier and I liked that , that’s how Zaner Bloser teaches it . Handwriting without tears teaches it up and down, which I thought was kind a hard for my son, your hand doesn’t flow as easily

    I Love so many of your suggestions! I will say that Exploring Nature with Children is NOT secular and neither is Story of the World BUT a wonderful and beautiful nature based program is Blossom and Root. Its AH- maziing and PDF as well. I would however suggest editing the title in case people purchase those items thinking they are in fact secular! Thanks for sharing so much great material on your channel!

    • @milaalvarez3145
      @milaalvarez3145 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was confused about those! Because one reason I keep searching for a history curriculum is that Story of the world , as far I had understood is Christian. And, for a split second I thought I could go with it... I have nothing against a religious based curriculum. I like to keep science and history minimally religious. Thanks for bringing that up!

    • @jennyharmony1371
      @jennyharmony1371 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@milaalvarez3145 yeah, unfortunately so many people will believe this title and buy these items thinking they are actually secular. She has ignored my comment and suggestion about changing the title. I love her channel but wish she would be more clear on this topic.

I ain’t raising my child to praise the colonizers... 🤢 Every time we travel the US this year, we’re going to use the land acknowledgement text line to open a discussion about the native cultures that lived there. It looks like this might help us both learn about them. ❤️

I like the content and the choice, I just wondered if we do the harcourt more than 1x a week do we need 2 books? Your advice greatly appreciated.

    • @HomeschoolOfBelAir
      @HomeschoolOfBelAir  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      SK Language Yeah I think what I like about this curriculum as it’s once a week I think we can do once a week and then we go to the park usually in the evenings anyway no they are not fluent in Spanish as it currently I’m looking into a new Spanish curriculum but the lady told me to contact her in August about possibly doing a sponsorship or some thing with her

    • @sklanguage589
      @sklanguage589 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeschoolOfBelAir We are learning Spanish as a second language. I am conversational (with lots of grammar errors) and I can read. We watch cartoons with Spanish audio a couple times a week and we homeschool one or two subjects in Spanish -sometimes Bible, sometimes science. We use easier books than we would use in our native language. I found textbooks in Spanish for natives online, (they are religious, so not your cup of tea). In the future I hope we get to spend time with native speakers, but it's difficult with our previous busy schedule, and now, the shut down.
      Spanish and English are so much alike, that with the photos in the books and our background knowledge of the subjects, and everything, the kids will get the gist. It's okay if they can't understand every word. Just keep going. They will pick up the language naturally. Anyway, this way of learning is working for us.
      Taking Spanish classes alone never gets people fluent-nobody gets fluent from high school Spanish or an app or a textbook. Immersion in real Spanish is necessary.
      I am hoping to get my kids to the point that if they moved to a Spanish speaking country they could survive, and would become fluent in a matter of months.

    • @HomeschoolOfBelAir
      @HomeschoolOfBelAir  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so great!!! I’m focusing more on conversational Spanish ... mainly to be able to communicate with their grandparents .. right now we’re just teaching them phrases I’m using out Chicano studies as vocabulary.. I pull out all the Spanish words from the stories and make flash cards .. they es picked up a bit . We’ll see how it goes
