On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I just started DCS and got the FC3 module. Installed full English cockpits in the Russian planes so I don't have to see the Cyrillic runes. What is the easiest plane to start with between F15, Mig 29 or Su 27/33 ?

@@capt-rex2894 It's a shame DCS doesn't have any training for the F15-C. I only see some startup tutorials at Instant Action and some 1v1 missions. Back to the pdf manual I guess.

Yup, I tweeted out this upload of his, it deserves many more eyes IMO. So many casuals would like how he breaks down the engagements so that anyone can understand how intense these fights really are and if not the visuals are just as much fun!
The tension from escaping that first meteor... Unreal... But really, the RWR did help alleviate the fear knowing how far or close the missile is.
I think this gives a much better picture of modern jet combat than gun and Fox-2 dogfights. Not that those will never happen but the long range radar missiles will always come first, and defending against them usually requires the target to actually retreat.
Chinese air to air missiles have a huge range advantage atm, but defensive manuevers might actually work good against it because of its immense speed and thus limited course correction capabilities, if you fly towards it or retreat you are pretty much toast way before in range, so this video is only valid for the european theater but of course still really entertaining.

I would have loved to see the missile chase cam, like the meteor that got close to you, as the r37 struck the AWACS. Would have been cool to see the AWACS as a dot that gets larger and goes boom in a matter of seconds.
Dude, these BVR fights with the Flanker are so much fun to watch. It will be interesting once the Strike Eagle comes out and we can go head to head with the APG/70 radar

One aspect of Gripen which is very cool, its design is module based. So if you have the spareparts and a 6man mech crew you can land gripen och a dirt road and change the engine in under 30 minutes. or what ever part need to be changed.
When you weren't locking the AWACS, I started thinking about the end of the trench run in Star Wars IV.

We’ve seen how deadly the meteors can be / 2 grippin’s packing a full load out of them is just scary and this is honestly a fight that could happen for real between Russia and Europe whether it’s euro fighters or other European fighters going up against Russian fighters

I have thought that "going cold" means without an afterburner and was like "lol wtf" on the "staying full afterburner and continuing cold" moment. Well, I've learned pretty much from this channel
Honestly, it bothers me that the Su-33 never got this kind of love that the Su-27 and other variants got.
Both because the admiral kuznetsov catching fire and F14 overshadowing it.
It's a low volume aircraft from when the USSR was toying with the idea of having aircraft carriers. The Russian naval doctrine is very different from the US, much more focused on subs and smaller missile ships than strike carrier based aircraft.
What Dimitri said, plus even then Soviet carriers were meant to act as air defense platforms (Kuznetsov's main strike package is not the aircraft, but it's missiles), providing additional protection to the fleet. AFAIK they were supposed to operate pretty much like GS did here, with heavy support of friendly SAMs. Su-33s probably would have been eventually upgraded with R-77s and better radars, but... Gorby.

Hey GS, apologies if this has been done before but I would love to see a battle between a lone su57 and two F22's supported by an F35. If it's possible to simulate the F35's capabilities to share information with it's allies that would be awesome as well. Keep up the quality content👍
DCS don't simulate 5º gen very well, F-35 could do a lot of things with it's DAS, but DCS can't even simulate proper AESA radars yet.

It's strange your air defense took so long to engage and interesting that the 2nd gripen pushed so far into your air defense as if it figured they could get him...
Those SA-6/11 are old so I guess gripen's ECM was giving it trouble, SA-17 or the S-300/400 are more modern and deadly

Can you talk a little more on the electro optical system? Rage? Employment? How does it acquire targets? Lock? Any countermeasure like with radar notching?
Big fat infra red camera seeing engine heat from faaar away, been in use for long, obviously flares and anything that works against IR guided missiles helps, those missiles have almost as much range as an amraam but give 0 warnings to the enemy

The fact that su27 avionics are so far behind compared to gripen's since gripen is more modern. That gives the su27 more credit for that victory.

@@dabinhaler1337 I’ve seen the simulators the US uses and it’s not much different as far as software goes. Plus, the pilots don’t use them as much as I would expect they would.

That’s a rhetorical question, and B) your response is nonsensical.
So. that missile that was locking on the the EM signature of the radar and jammers, couldn't the Gripen just shut it down and use the linked system and awarenes from the wingman's system while shaking off that first missile. Maybe fire one of those em decoymissiles from the decoy pod. Not claiming to be an expert, just thinking it looked like it wasn't doing anything to try and get rid of that missile lock.
