I'm always a little bit surprised what folks comment about on my videos. I thought for sure I would get more comments and questions about the wire harness I put into the lure. I'm pretty sure it's a unique technique. At least I haven't seen any other lure builder do it this way.
I've had other BPM baits th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!
A jointed lure with that front shape and a back section that fits up tight behind and under the front might be really cool. You might be able to put a Johnson silver minnow type of spoon down there.
That is one of the most unique baits I've ever seen. Sweet swimming action and the flash off that blade is killer. The red eyes were my choice too. I was afraid the spinner might get hung on the bottom treble, but a fix is easy. Paint job looked really nice.👍👍
As always totally gobsmacked at your ingenuity. You have encouraged so many of us to experiment. You get to point with great explanations of very technical stuff. Thanks again 🎣🎣
That bullhead… 😄 Those things are more aggressive than I ever expected. I’ve caught two on spoons of all things. I’m really digging those violet speckles. They just work really well with the red eye and yellow and green body.
Based on the earlier posting I figured it would have a spinning blade on a swivel as built, but when I saw the video thumbnail I was like, "Wow! He engineered the hell out of that puppy by fixing the blade on a pintle; genius!" And now after seeing the lure in action I'm thinking that's actually a good idea to keep the blade in the same position away from the belly hook. It shouldn't be too difficult using the same technique as the line attachment on the lip of your deep diving lure but with two attachments to accept a pin. Inspired to give it a try! Thanks!
I live in Saskatchewan, am an avid fisher and absolutely love targeting large pike. That lure looks like a slayer. I like the idea of a single hook with the willow leaf. Excellent work. I would give that baby a work out up North here!
Great video, great lure. I was happy you chose the red eye, too. I am a pike-o-phile; I chase them all over. I might suggest a single hook on both front and back with a 5-6 inch split tail pork rind on the back and maybe even a stinger treble back 3-4 inches. I think if you turned up the lateral edges of your blade in opposite directions it would flutter more? I love the action of pike on a stop and then jerk retrieve and think this would be irresistible retrieved in such a manner. Only down side; well big pike chew up lures, and Dang! This is just to beautiful to imagine being toothed up. Thanks!
I made an extremely similar bait last month 👍🏻. I used a buzz blade to weigh the belly! It works amazingly! And I just love your design and your way of thinking! Great work my friend
to me you should connect the end of the metal jig to the top part of the lure so it always stays orizzontal so it can flash better and it will make a lot of vibrations
Last time I was in Costa Rica I left a box of my handmade lures with some young kids that were fishing near the river mouth where I was staying. Pura Vida!
That looks really cool. What kind of wood did you use ? What if you used a wire that goes from the where the swivel is to the tail and you used a long narrow diamond shaped blade. On that wire then it would spin and not tangle up with the hook.
Franco that is a really interesting design. I go to Canada every year and fish for smallmouth and Pike in the Georgian Bay. I may have to design one for myself to test our on the Pike. I did make a Lazy Ike lure with the Shark Fin. I will post a picture of it when it is finished with clear coat. Keep up the good work and inspiration. Happy Easter.
Really like this lure! I think all the time how the hell to come up with something different and you did it. I have been using your weight volume density formula for quite awhile and it eliminates most of the trial and error with weight and balance so thanks for sharing this again. I am glad you reminded everyone about accounting for the wieght of clear coat and paint. Thanks for all the info it makes life easier for us non engineers that might not think of this stuff on our own. 😊😊
Could you try with the line tie on top like a lipless crankbait? I would think that would make it easier to fish with the blade moving between the two hooks. Might avoid the hang-ups and get that spinner moving better.
You could, but you would get no swimming action and the blade would tend to be pushed towards the belly hook by the water flow. The truth is that there an infinite number of variations on this idea that could work. I had a vision for this specific style with a body that would give a swimming action on a steady retrieve but...that's just me. Thanks for the ideas. Cheers.
Awesome as always!!! I’ll note that when you’re epoxying the wire in you can use hot glue to “dam” the resin up, then remove after it dries. I think this thing would be killer on snakeheads at times
Loved the shape and the movement in the water, would love to see how a it fishes in salt water and for pike fishing. Think it would be a good, unusual shaped lure for fishing for our UK sea bass, but now only use single books with the barbs crushed, easier for catch and release.
I may have missed it, What kind of wood are you using for this really great working/looking lure. Thanks for sharing your engineering designs. Appreciate the math explanation also. Good fishing to you.
Top video. Great idea. Absolutely creative and lots of good tips as always. I once drilled a hole in the center of a normal lure body and implanted a 4-blade plastic propeller from model aircraft construction. This was led through the whole body by a thin brass tube. But I could never get the propeller to turn properly by fishing that lure by regular speed. The shape of your lure seems to be more functional.
Very beautiful and unique lure reminds me of a moon fish or something like a disc shape fish, i really prefer the gold eyes. Just a small suggestion try to put the blade between two swivels so the blade remains parallel to the body in any situation, this way it can produce the flash spin and not get jammed by the treble hook. I really enjoy your video with all the details and information that you provide.
...Now for something completely different 😀 Interesting design Franco, wobbling action combined with a spinner! Think that the body is interfering with the water flow to the willow leaf blade and dampening its action. I use a lot of spinner rigs with different blade styles for walleyes, found that the willow leaf spins with a narrow swing and requires a fast forward speed to start spinning. A small wide swinging colorado blade might work better as they are quick to start spinning. Think that mounting the spinner blade on a wire shaft might be better than a swivel (revision 2?). What about twisting a 3/8 x 3 inch piece of sheet metal into a spiral to create a rotating flasher? Cheers!
I’d do red for pike…..but you’ve inspired me to make a Tarpon trolling lure, and replace the spinner with a large purple and white buck tail, and another , maybe fire tiger pattern for the rear , and add a short shallow diving bill, because the St. Lucie, where I fish is quite shallow…..anyway… love the design….I’d go red for pike.
Just found your channel and really enjoying the videos! I make bucktails and spinners out of wire and beads but your easy explanations make me confident I can try to work with wooden lures as well. Keep it up!
Very cool plug, and nice action. I like lordofthetemps idea of running the wire through. I tried that on a plug, but couldn't get the blade right. Still sitting on my bench...
What about running the wire through the hollow, since the tie eye, swivel and rear hook are all on the center like? Then use an elongated in-line propeller style blade similar to a long buzz bait blade. Like Lure Parts Online 8192 Premium In-Line Propellers. I think you get amazing flash and vibration at slow and fast retrieves. Pike do love vibration. Thoroughly enjoying your videos Franco, Thanks.
Should be perfect for fresh water fishing but for saltwater maybe need deference colour type or maybe need to kind a bit different shape... excellent invention bro
I don't think I've ever seen a similar type lure before. That's an unique design. I wonder if you could get that to glide from side to side? I'm thinking that might make a good muskie jerkbait if it could glide.
been thinking about this shape for a long time , but have not come around to doing it but after seeing the way it moves in the water i will be starting this tomorrow . the lure looks great and i can see it catching big pike that`s for sure . whats the size of the wire you used in that lure and where did you buy it from ? nice build and thanks for doing what you do
Its 1mm titanium welding wire...here's a link: www.aceraceparts.com/products/0-039-1mm-tig-welding-wire-x-39-1-meter-length-cp1-titanium-1-4lb-bundle?currency=USD&Google%20Shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0umSBhDrARIsAH7FCoc9yBfWhexdUv29KaEdMHM6O17DfcqvCsRNbsjBWAKFYVlqnVDF5AwaAt-XEALw_wcB&variant=15284556070975

Really cool bait! Looks like the front treble needs to be moved or size reduced to not interfere with the blade. Also, how long did your o rings last in your Iwata? Curious as I have an Eclipse HP-CS and wondering how long I can expect my orings to last.
Awesome lures and tutorials, sir! Hat's off! Can you tell me if it is some rules regarding the points where you need to insert weights in a jointed slider to make it swim like an "S" curve? I made my own lures,I manage to make up to a 1 inch long slider that swims well, but I cannot make one that is jointed, they go straight, even if they are bigger.
The weight is usually best distributed between the segments of the lure. But segmented swimbaits do not scale down very well. There is a limit to how small they can be... Good luck.
nice idea!!! i think a little change in the dimensions, would make it great. a longer head to move the hook a bit forward. than you could go down with the blade that gives more freedom for a colorado blade. that will run better on a swivel with gears. a bit smaler it could be a basskiller too. or as lipless-spinner-crank. there is much room to play

You did a great job showing it, so I'm not surprised, regarding your blade issue, consider a buck tail in the appropriate colors!
Probably metallic
Marling baits uses them🤙 not original
A collaboration between you and Marling Baits would be epic!
The way you show it there's really not much to ask. You do a good job of explaining by showing, at least for me.
I love the precision eyeballing
A jointed lure with that front shape and a back section that fits up tight behind and under the front might be really cool. You might be able to put a Johnson silver minnow type of spoon down there.
I am happy that I came across this gem of a channel.
Thank you so much.
That epoxy piping bag is an awesome trick! So many times such a mess could have been saved
Totally!
Loved that idea putting the epoxy in the bag 👌
That is one of the most unique baits I've ever seen. Sweet swimming action and the flash off that blade is killer. The red eyes were my choice too. I was afraid the spinner might get hung on the bottom treble, but a fix is easy. Paint job looked really nice.👍👍

wild looking lure, and I thought the shrooms finally hit, but it was just your even wilder transitions
It takes a while...but the shrooms will hit, and then you'll really see the magic of the lure 😄
every eye color goes good with the lure
It was a tough choice.
I made an extremely similar bait last month 👍🏻. I used a buzz blade to weigh the belly! It works amazingly! And I just love your design and your way of thinking! Great work my friend

very genius senior I like the idea and the video is very good, once in the direct test you can get fish, the calculation is very prestigious, senior

If the rings are drying out try the Kobe oil they make or make sure not to clean with rubbing alcohol
I think you're right...I use some harsh stuff to clean the gun and it's messing the o-rings up.

Turn the front hook 180 degrees so the interfering hook points down
Kool!!!! This I like. I going to try to make it later too.

Very different and very unique might have to have a go at one for our Murray cod they hit big vibration lures. Keep up the good work 🎣😎👍

Very nice worth the wait. As was mentioned previously you might want to try a Colorado or Indiana blade just to see what that looks like.

I think a few tweaks and it'll be perfect. Good lure design.

As I thought. The inner-spinner (copyright that). Although I thought the spinner would have a shaft to spin on.
Me too😁
it's ofFISHal - catfish like spinner belly pike lures

That smaller blade should work perfectly keeping out the hook
I tied it...seems to hang up too. I modified the hook and it works much better.
Excellent!
But....
If there is a large fish behind the back hook, the wire will straighten from the weight and fly out of the slot.
It would take a massive pull. And I sill would have the fish.

Unique ! Great job.
I liked the red eye.
I've always wanted to build one similar, nice job as always 👍
Fantastic, thanks for your ideas, non replied but i recerch it.

Is it possible to attache a patern please ?
That will be great.
Thanks in advance

I like the idea. what if you drilled a through hole from line tie to rear hook hanger and put a willow blade that would go around the bar(maybe this could avoid the treble hook from catching. BTW I like the red eye the most too.
Yea, I thought about having wire as an axel...that's a good idea. For now I think I'll cut the top hook off the treble.
Great work, nice lure I love it!
Really cool bait! Looks like the front treble needs to be moved or size reduced to not interfere with the blade. Also, how long did your o rings last in your Iwata? Curious as I have an Eclipse HP-CS and wondering how long I can expect my orings to last.

That body shape with a prop instead of blade. Blade would not work right for hooks. Shorter blad would work better. Great idea. Different for sure
you need spinnerbait swivel on the first swivel
Awesome lures and tutorials, sir! Hat's off!
Can you tell me if it is some rules regarding the points where you need to insert weights in a jointed slider to make it swim like an "S" curve? You are right!
@@EngineeredAngler thank you. but the idea is so grat, that it is sad not to be able to fish with it
liked it as a chrome paint job would have just added scale pattern

There's a link for them in the description. You have to scroll way down. They are called jeweler's pliers.

In my opinion, a heavier spoon style spinner would do better. Also, it needs to weigh more in salt water to account for the difference in buoyancy.
