Yeah, the Cave is solid, not nearly as busted as some of the other lands, but entering untapped is still just such a crazy thing. That and the land it searches for enters straight to the BF, not to hand.
Thank you. This has closed a debate I had in a casual game who said that the 2 mana to activate isochron scepter was mana spent to cast the copy and I thought it was just to copy it, not for casting it.
I think this just might be your longest post closing but at the end. And I agree, MH3 is a little pushed. Those lands are very good and I can see them being very pricey because of that.
This one wasn't that bad. "Reading the card explained the card" - since specifically the Genestealer WH40K card doesn't state "cast". The Bauble going to see massive play everywhere it's legal. So many exploits to cast free spells that it helps slow down.
I see this come up all the time. Similarly to things that trigger card draw when you cast them, I see people think they trigger them and try to draw and I have to let them know it doesn't work when it only copies the spell.
Yeah, I thought about mentioning those things, but I didn't want to make the episode too long... Of course the video got to be really long cause of the rant at the end... So yeah......
So, for Magecraft, how does something like Isochron Scepter work with it? Because you're copying but also casting, I'm sure there isn't a double trigger, but I just want to have it down exactly as to why.
Oh snap, sorry I missed your comment a few days ago, but PiLovesDeadpool got a good reply there. Magecraft does trigger for copies and casts, but specifically a copy of a spell or casting of a spell, in both cases a spell. With the Scepter, it will trigger the Magecraft but only once, for when the copy is cast, but the thing you're copying is a card, not a spell. On a somewhat similar note, a Twinning Staff would not cause you to get two things off your Scepter cause the Staff only adds an additional copy made of a spell and again the only thing being copied from the Scepter is the card. Hope this helps.
Good question, and yes it does. They don't just have to be spells you're trying to 'cheat' by ignoring their cost, but just any spell like Ornithopter that have 0 as their cost would be countered. In addition, if you had Helm of Awakening out and played your Skullclamp, there isn't a way you could still try to pay 1 for it, any mana you add to your pool would just float and the Skullclamp couldn't have any mana be spent on it and it would be countered.
Yup, it will. It's not just when you 'cheat' something's mana, like the Alternative Cast of Force of WIll, even something like an Ornithopter will be countered or a Mishra's Bauble.
Not everything, only when you make a copy of the card in a Zone other than the Stack. Here's the respective CR for what it means to be cast, "601.2. To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack...". I hope this helps you out.
Glad you enjoyed my deck :^)
Are you the Kellan deck guy?
"enjoyed" is a word... I was shown the power of the dark side.
@@JeffCarpenter-c1i Yup, he is my Oppenheimer buddy. He built the bomb that never should have been built.
My Kane deck is glad it's not getting it's copies rocked by this, whew. Thanks for the clarification
She is safe.
Super excited for Urza's Cave too, MH3 has waaay too powerful cards but this land seems reasonable to me.

Oh snap, that's one way to think about it... a wrong way, but still a way. I've never heard that one before.
My friend proxied this to try it out in death and taxes and then played Thalia next turn. So all my free counters just cost 1
Ha! Thanks Thalia for helping out!
Oh dang, that's really cool that she helped you by hurting you.
Yep Lavinia also gets non bo with tax effects so makes sense.
I think this just might be your longest post closing but at the end. And I agree, MH3 is a little pushed. Those lands are very good and I can see them being very pricey because of that.
Very, very pricey with how many of them of each I'll need. Can't wait to phase out my Commander with a land against a board wipe.

The Bauble going to see massive play everywhere it's legal. So many exploits to cast free spells that it helps slow down.
Yeah, a little softball, but still a handy one for some players. Might crank it up a bit for next week.

Magecraft cares about copying a spell. Isochron copies a card, not a spell, then casts it. To copy a spell, the spell has to be on the stack

Does bauble hit spells that just cost 0 like mana crypt or jeweled lotus?
Good question, and yes it does. They don't just have to be spells you're trying to 'cheat' by ignoring their cost, but just any spell like Ornithopter that have 0 as their cost would be countered. Hmm, and how it works with aether vial? I have seen a los of lists of legacy D&T with 4 copies with solitude and vial..
Does the Vexing Bauble counter spells that costs 0 mana?
Yup, it will. It's not just when you 'cheat' something's mana, like the Alternative Cast of Force of WIll, even something like an Ornithopter will be countered or a Mishra's Bauble.
I thought MTG rules stated that anything that is copied is cast?
Not everything, only when you make a copy of the card in a Zone other than the Stack. Here's the respective CR for what it means to be cast, "601.2. To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack...". I hope this helps you out.
What about kaalia the vast.
Kaalia's ability doesn't have you cast the creatures from your hand, they're just put onto the BF as part of the resolution of her ability.
Yet another card that doesn't counter The Prismatic Bridge lol
Tis a powerful card and Commander.
