As stated in many other videos, mesmeric orb is THE staple for this commander no matter what direction you plan to go with mothman. Each untap is a separate triger of mill, so each untap has a potential to be another +1/+1 counter wherever you want it.
This is the first video on The Wise Mothman that takes a different approach than everybody else and where I see some diversified card suggestions. Good work!
I did buy this deck because the different paths you can take when building it: mass milling + control, mutant/zombie theme, 1/1 tokens and go wide, more proliferate for rad counters aiming to make opponents lose life, small milling but continuous for big creatures, self-mill and reanimate... Even poison + proliferate off win-con with the radstorm can work because we can have so much mana with green to make a gigachad turn with Radstorm... Etc
See, I threw Voidwing Hybrid in because it has natural recursion and can slap a poison counter on enemies. Put in w/ Yawgmoth, Dakmor, Bone Miser, and Venser and you can infinitely proliferate. Tekuthal and Crawler also combo off w/ Yawgmoth and Voidwing. If someone has poison, they’re dead. If they have Rad, they’re milled out and dead. It’s still solid when you can’t infinite with a piece missing but can just prolif a good amount with mindcrank. Really love how this deck expanded mill options!
I’m helping my buddy build this up and one thing I noticed this deck lacks TREMENDOUSLY is removal. I love the idea of the zombie sub-theme but I think this deck needs some protections in counter or something like heroic intervention and a handful of removal since you can only mill so much and your opponents are still going to be playing their creatures
One piece that works well for the grindy late game can be Virtue of Persistence, i've found the early game ability to kill key enabler creatures like academy manufactor or a cheap commander with its adventure cost is super worth it, and it then means that later down the line when people have milled and you've also probably lost stuff to board wipes it means you can potentially put down the enchantment to start out valuing people down the line
A couple of misses are cards like Regrowth and Noxious Revival to "buy back" cards that you milled over. Compost is also a good include, as most people black so you're constantly refilling your hand. Zellix is also great as an alternate Undead Alchemist. Altar of the Brood goes hard with Alchemist and Zellix too
What are your thoughs about dredge stuff like golgari grave troll? Also you can add cephalid illusionist if we want to fully mill yourself (or give the illusionist to somebody and mill them). And finally what do you think about stuff like cowardice? It tranforms your moth boy into direct removal
Dredge stuff might be better suited for a deck like Muldrotha that wants it sgraveyard whereas Mothman incidentally can use it for value Cowardice on the other hand is sweeeet and didn't even think of that card, definitely will be adding it
The ComedIan just made a cEDH for the legendary artifact creature from that deck, it can rad combo all the opponents; a must check to mill everybody in commander!
Saw only one mention of Crucible of worlds on the comments, also isn't it obvious that doubling season world help the proliferate go wide tokens part of the deck?
I’m going to suggest three cards to take out: the Talismans! I don’t know why everyone wants to get rid of the Bobbleheads and not the Talismans. The bubblehead’s first ability to tap for mana off any color is immediately superior to both abilities on all talismans! If you want more boneheads to take advantage of their secondary ability, then REMOVE THE TALISMANS AND REPLACE THEM WITH BUBBLEHEADS! DUH!
I’ve been contemplating a commander like Yarok, the Desecrated for years. Do you think there’s a way to incorporate Landfall with Yarok into this deck? I’m thinking cards like Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, Evolution Sage, Tato Farmer, etc to fuel the build.
@@ThatMillGuyShaf I figure with Crabs triggering on Landfall, and some of the creatures that give additional land drop potential and card draw (Aesi), tokens (Avenger of Zendikar), life (Courser of Kruphix), proliferate (Evolution Sage), etc. You’d still end up leaning on stuff like Altar of Dementia with the token generators, but I feel like a Sultai mill with Landfall subtheme could get brutal.
For Culling Ritual... "Imagine if your opponents have a bunch of treasures" I'm sorry but if your opponents don't sac those in response... your playgroup is just not playing to win at all and in that case go ahead and just keep having fun dude.
@ThatMillGuyShaf self mill into playing your own combo pieces. Def common lines like Thassas demonic consultation. But def combo self mill id say hes a viable cedh commander
Hmm thatmillguy doing a mill precon upgrades? Yes, this checks out.
Yeeeee

Yep, Mesmeri Orb is an easy include
It went from like 5 bucks to over 40AUD cause of Mothman

I got 3 of the 4 commander decks, and mothman is by far my favorite

Can't wait to pull my horror mill deck apart to upgrade this, so excited
Awesome video! Do you have a decklist you've put together to share?
Pretty much made this video before heading on to an extended vacation so no solid list yet, but it will come down soon :)
@@ThatMillGuyShaf wheres that list?

Would you incorporate more wipes or single target?

Did you ever get that deck list together? I would love to see so I can order those cards lol
Retribution of the Ancients is highly underrated. Also Fathom Mage can be ridiculous.
The ComedIan just made a cEDH for the legendary artifact creature from that deck, it can rad combo all the opponents; a must check to mill everybody in commander!

While i know you can't go over every card, i think Muldrotha is such a slam dunk in this deck!
Yep, briefly mentioned the card in my video previously, a must play in this one
I think Hancock's buff to other mutants only happens once if I read the rule correctly. Could be wrong
Mutant commander buffs X targets 1 each 1/1s X being non land. This happens on each players turn by any mill mechanic

I love That fuckin Mothman!!! Probably never buy a precon that fast as this one!!

I've never been too attuned to land based strats in EDH so I wouldn't be the best to ask haha

i went with the storm/rad manipulation line of play with mothman

I literally mention this at the bottom of the video at when talking about the card
Would Crucible of Worlds or the new Undergrowth Recon be worth it for your self milled lands?
There's value in this yes! You definitely want to combo it with cards that let you play multiple lands tho, then you can abuse Wasteland Shenanigans
Generous patron is a card draw beast with mothman
Decklist decklist decklist ❤😮💨👌
I'm trying duplicate cards in mothman like spark double and sakashima. Danny pink for card draw
What about bloodchief asencion ?
That's an option too, just didn't mention EVERY card haha
The master is def stronger imo but great vid!
How would you build the master in this case?
@ThatMillGuyShaf self mill into playing your own combo pieces. Def common lines like Thassas demonic consultation. But def combo self mill id say hes a viable cedh commander
What is everyone using for rad counters
Like token wise?
@@ThatMillGuyShaf yeah they get out of hand when you’re playing in a group of four people
2D10's. Maybe a percentile and a D10.
Nexus of Fate has potential to go infinite in the late game.
Why would u want to rad yourself on some cards tho ?
But but out of the tombs return lab man or thassa’s
Out of Tombs returning Thoracle is clutch here
You talk way to fast
The way life goes I guess
Keep up grasshopper.
You listen to slow
Thease have to be some of the worst suggestions to Upgrade this deck... ignore 90% of it
Yeah I was actually really surprised how bad this list was
Edgelords over here
