    Thanks for the update on the B.
    I think a home base is always good to have, especially with a Class B.
    We love your travels.

    I am a retired Army Colonel and for some reason I got the pass free at the Badlands National Park. I was surprised. I am also a retired University professor. I love your channel and how down to earth you are. We started with a travel trailer, upgraded to a bigger one, then bought a 30’ class C. Now we have a fifth wheel because my wife loves the space. Stay safe.

      Thank you for your service, Colonel! The military pass and the senior pass are much cheaper than the regular annual one. Glad you were able to get it free!

  • @LokiandBjorn

    We purchased the annual pass - and it MORE than paid for itself in 30 days. Once you have it you can renew online and adjust your options. VERY worth it!

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True, we couldn’t do it online though because we were not going to be in one place long enough to get it by mail, before we needed to use it. That’s why we went out to get it. 👍🏻

    For me personally, I wouldn’t mine the class b for vacations and getting from point A to point B. Living full time would not be optimal. We have a class b+ on a class c chasis and it’s perfect for us. We do tow a smart car to get us around the NP and places. My next RV would be the Winnebago Navion or View 24 D that comes with the Murphy bed. It’s 5” longer than the Grech and it has the separate shower/toilet. 😉
    I can see the advantages of Grech and going all electric with lithium batteries, and not having to worry about plugging in to get power.
    Thanks for sharing. Godspeed.

    We love our Leisure Travel Unity FX for all the reasons you mentioned. But we have a dry bath. Two wardrobes. And it’s called an FX because it’s flexible. My hubby works in front while I work in back. We have a slide out so it’s really roomy. I’ve cooked everything except stinky stuff in it. Between a small instantpot, convection microwave, and two burner stove, I can make everything. Even a Turkey…….breast. Lol.
    Love you guys. I’m in radiation treatment right now so we’re not traveling. So, I’m really enjoying your adventures.

    I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos. I had finally talked my wife into going in the RV for at least most of the year, when I had open heart surgery. After recovering from that I discovered I had Prostate Cancer, so after surgery and 8 weeks of Radiation I’m just not able to travel like that just yet. Your videos have been a great substitute. Hopefully we’ll see you out there soon!

    My wife and I both purchased an “America The Beautiful” Pass when we officially became seniors.😉 We each paid $10 for the lifetime pass which changed in price later to $80. We were very fortunate. We have used the pass even as causal travelers. We went to Puerto Rico on a cruise and entered the Castillo San Felipe del Morro Fort with the pass.

    Love your tips on the Grech Ion tour. We just bought the Duvalay beds y’all talked about. I’d like to wash them first and realize the foam pad is not washable. Any tips for reassembling the cover after wash, also with the zippers only on the outside of the beds, how do you make one right side exit and the other left hand exit towards the isle when the bed is out in the twin configuration? Thanks

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We start inserting the pad end to end and then we each hold one corner standing up stretching it tight and the pas will drop in much easier than trying to slide it in laying down.
      If the opening is on the wrong side, you just flip the cover to the other side and ouch the corner of the pad so it flips. Harder to explain than to do.

    That is a small space to live in. Good that you two get along. It seems like a real traveling machine. I'm sure that you have seen the large fifth wheels, (condos on wheels), that many full timers use. And then I see them struggle trying to park, teardown, and maneuver a square peg in a round hole. We have a 32' class A, and tow a small car that works for us because we are on the move. Nothing is perfect

    When your ambassadorship is up (1 year???) and considering next RV, have you thought about a Sprinter on a cutaway chassis (Navion/View, Wayfarer, etc) that would resolve the wet bath issue and a bit larger but not too large? I think LTV even has a macerator option, but surprisingly for a manufacturer based in Canada, isn't designed to handle the cold as well as those built further South.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The length of time is still a little unknown right now. If we went with a sprinter, we would take the quality over the wet bath fix. Those others are decent but not quite as good in our opinion.

    I like your videos you seem like a very nice couple. My wife and I had a 1987 Okanogan class b with the bed on top the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. It was bigger than a king. I sold it and got a small class A and I regretted it. We sold class A and we are looking at this. The only thing stopping us is the price as we would have to sell our house and we are not ready to give that up. What I love about it is the simplicity less stress and the fact you can run ac and boondock. How do you like the bed and is the ride comfortable on the highway. Thanks and god bless and be safe in your travels.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We really like the bed in this. You wouldn’t think you would by looking at it but it is very comfortable. We have also talked within ourselves many times about how much more comfortable the ride is in the Grech than our F250 was. Being so nimble and always having everything with us is so nice. But it all does on the person and what is most important. If you love to travel, just choose what will allow you to be the most comfortable with the least amount of stress. For us, it’s definitely been this Grech Strada-Ion.

    I really love your videos & I love your van too! I do think it would pair perfect with a park model/tiny home base. We just bought an older used 2005 Coach house platinum 270xl with only 20k miles & we are considering full time. I'm a little nervous about trying to full time in a smaller rv There are a lot of things that need fixed but coach house are very well built so it has good bones... we're replacing the ac this weekend. Also we're going to be installing lithium batteries, inverter & solar... hopefully 800 amph battery bank. I really like the marcerator set up on your van I wish I had that. 😊

    Great to hear your experiences with van travel. Note battery power is not free when you are powering AC, solar provides minimal power. I would like to find someone that measured the fuel consumption for the battery charging off of engine. A comparison with a dedicated generator or EV charging station, would be interesting.
    My preferred van build would be maximized solar with backup being alternator charging.

    Hey, good morning! Great Q&A on your van. It would be nice if they built in an outside cooking cubby, though I don't see space for it. Maybe if you had a camp table with BBQ and small burner you could cook picnic meals. Guess you can already do that at the campsite facilities though. It's hard for me to eat healthy when I eat out. Oh, I ordered the blender you showed us last week. It's on back order. Busy day planned today and I'm about to hit the road.

      Glad you are enjoying them, thanks! We keep hearing this from others, but then again, we have seen channels that have a lot more subscribers, but they don’t have many views each week. I think sometimes a channel will have one or two videos that really gets a lot of views and the people subscribe because of that video but never come back to watch anything else from that channel. We do know that TH-cam takes away comments and subscribers for some reason. We have had many different people tell us that TH-cam had unsubscribed them and they had to go back and subscribe again, so hard telling how many haven’t noticed.
      We have no idea what is going on with that and TH-cam can never give an explanation when we have contacted them about it. 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♀️

    Trying to read between the lines what I hear you saying is that it has great build quality (and at that price I would hope so), You have every thing you need with you that makes being on the road easier. The limitations of space make life less comfortable and slightly more difficult. This type of camping is great if you are always moving but I camp the same place for a month or more and I am not even full time. So it all depends on how you camp and how comfortable you are towing a travel trailer.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What you should be hearing us say is, every single RV that we have had has some sort of limitations that “life less comfortable” and some that makes it more comfortable. If you want to enjoy this lifestyle, you have to pick what works best for “you”.

    Amazing how improved this new rig is compared to my 1989 HMC. The battery and charging capacity, the black tank with macerator. Of course $230k compared to the $8k used is a lot.

    Wow, I was just thinking about how thrilled I am to see one of your videos pop up when you mentioned appreciating us 😂. Y’all are so real with a great sense of humor! I enjoy all the tips to think about when deciding what RV type/layout to get. We have an older 34’ class a and I’d love to have something smaller to travel with like you’re doing. It’s just the current prices that hold me back. If you can dry camp a lot, I wouldn’t feel bad eating out or even your storage fees. You’d be paying out one way or the other! Safe travels and hope to see you out on the road someday!

    The more you share about the Gretch, the more it makes sense. Did you feel that you were in a slower pace when you had the Airstream compared to the Gretch? Could that be why you cook less now? What are the cost comparisons between owning a vehicle like the Gretch vs. Truck and trailer?

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does seem like we are going at a faster pace so far, except for staying out for 2 months in Iowa camped, but yet we were moving at a fast pace always doing something, so we still ate out a lot.
      You’re looking at close to 200k for the truck and Aiestream, so not too much of a difference in cost.

    I like the van concept, nice quality. The price is way too high for me. I'm going camping not driving my house around. The solar, 12v fridge, on demand hot water are my main concern. A little bigger fridge and freezer is also important. Nice ride. Just too much. Happy trails.

    • @LivinRVision

      We understand, which is why we probably wouldn’t buy one ourselves. It would be different for someone with a bigger bank account. Don’t get us wrong, we love it and the extra price is worth it over the competitors, but simply just too expensive “for “. Great rig though!

Combo staying in Grech, hotels, boon docking, campgrounds etc. Been following "She to Me" epic trip. We may do something like that. Always have our home to come back to. Have fun. Only criticism is, you seemed distracted while driving. Maybe park next time.

I appreciate the details on this and the price as I want something very nice and convenient as well. We live in MN the twin cities area- what could you tell us about cold weather (not that we would camp in winter here but still curious about winter and cold). Enjoy your travels and will be watching.

    Nebraska fan here, so I won’t bring up football ☹️. Great insight to the advantages of Class B with stellar Lithium package. Your perspectives are helpful , especially since you had Class A and Airstream. You highlighted travel versatility and no hook ups. My question is: could you have done essentially the same mode of operations with a Winnebago Echo or Navion or Leisure Travel Van with a robust Lithium package?

      @@LivinRVision Thanks. I agree that most all small Class C's are not providing full Lithium package like Class B Grech and Travato with Volta. Full battery-powered A/C would not be possible for an all-day, hot-sun parking lot like you did. But in three to five years, I hope more robust Lithium will be possible for small Class Cs. Nothing against Class B's, but, in my mind, they are too small for extended living.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the Lithionics battery power they put in the Grech really make a huge difference. I think it really depends on the person when it comes to what is big enough for them to live in. Seems there are a ton of people that do live in them even smaller than the one we are in at 24’…some live in a 19’. It’s all about the journey for some and not so much “a home”. I could do it for sure by myself but I’m not sure how long Michelle could handle it. 😂 She’s doing great so far. 👍🏻

    Found this on the net
    About your Senior Pass (Annual) • Senior Annual Pass costs $20. A lifetime Senior Pass is also available. • Valid for one full year from month of purchase (through last day of that month). • Please note that the price of the lifetime Senior Pass increased to $80 on August 28, 2017. Also, a new $20 annual Senior Pass became available at the same time. • For U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. • May be obtained in person at a federal recreation site, online here, or through the mail using the application form.
    Now ask also if you buy both the senior pass and American the beautiful and keep it active for 3 years does it become permanently active but I'm thinking you need to keep the old ones as proof you bought 3 in a row

    How are you able to run your air conditioner for 8 hours? What is your solar setup? Lithium battery capacity and inverter size? I've watched all of your videos but don't recall you discussing this in any of your videos about the van. Would really like to know because we'd like to upgrade our Leisure Unity Rear Twin Bed to be able to do likewise.

      Hi David - You must be skipping over every time we have discussed. We have talked about this many times during some of our travel videos. No worries though, we’re more than happy to give you the info.
      This system is something that came this way straight from the manufacturer, Grech RV, not something that we installed.
      It has 1,260 Amp Hours / 16,128 Watt Hours of Lithionics lithium ion batteries. A 3,000 Watt Xantrex Inverter and 300 Watts of solar. The solar doesn’t do much at all other than trickle charge the batteries, it’s the batteries that are so robust. The system will get more than 8 hours off the batteries.
      If you want to know more about the Grech Strada-Ion, they give a list of all the features on GrechRV.com

    I have friends who own a storage company. They told us that 99% of what people pay to store is just outdated crap (by the time they are ready to take it out of storage) that they could have purchased brand new when they needed it again, for all the money they wasted on paying to store it.

      That was my point exactly when we started this lifestyle. Michelle wanted to keep most of it and I wanted to sell. Now we are too busy to even go through it all when we go back. lol We have sold and given away a little here and there each year that we go back ever since. I think she was afraid that she wasn’t going to like the lifestyle at first and now, here we are.
