Thank you, I am a home iron user. I can't afford accessories and such, all projects are for home use. I just did my first shirt using the iron and incredibly impressed with how it turned out. :D
Perfect! Thank you so much for your tips using an iron. I never had any intention to do T-shirts but some "Everyday Iron on " came with my newly purchased Maker, so bought a cheap T-shirt and followed your instructions. I have put my sons name of his band and a graphic on it. It took really quickly, I did turn down the heat a tad, and used a clean wooden chopping board to press onto. Followed the 30 second tip, and the transfer paper started to come away cleanly. Fab! Bet the rest of the band will want one now - what have I started?
Thanks for showing that you can use a household iron with the HTV. I have not purchased any HTV because I was not planning on making tee shirts, but now I may have to try it. Thanks again!
Thanks for showing how to use a household iron. Right before Christmas I don't want to go to the expense of an Easy Press (although I may treat myself to one for Christmas). But I want to make gifts for the grandchildren for Christmas and now I feel confident I can do that with my regular iron. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Although, you will get much more success from your projects if you do have an EasyPress. We highly recommend the Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D as it's so affordable!
Thank you so much for this! I don’t think shirts is something I’m wanting to do all the time, but had a special occasion to make a few for. This worked perfectly! Watched a ton of your HTV tutorials and I really appreciate how detailed and easy to follow they are!🙏🏻
I'm making shirts for co-workers. I bought my design from an employee at a different site who has a Cricket. This tutorial helped me to finish my shirts off! Thanks!!
Thank you so much. Just bought a maker and can’t stretch to a easypress yet. Read elsewhere about issues with pressing with a household iron and was concerned, but having watched this very detailed tutorial I am feeling optimistic. Can’t wait for my maker to arrive to test this out now!
@@MakersGonnaLearn I have the mini. What is the best way to use this for htv time wise? And do you recommend still heating the back with it as well? Even if you do layers or use heat transfer paper?

Thank you so much I think you just helped me solve all my problems. Love how you show this step by step. Watching made me realize what I've been doing wrong.
I Truly Appreciate this video. I am brand new to all this circuit. I now know I can use a household iron. eventually I will invest in an Iron on machine.
This was super helpful! I'm only wanting to put vinyl on one t-shirt, so the Easy Press wasn't a good investment for me. This is a really good alternative
I tried this and it didn't work well. At my cotton setting, the plastic backing warped, making the image warp. I believe the reason is that my over 20 year old iron runs hotter than other newer models. So putting it on the cotton setting isn't even it's highest available setting. I dropped the temp down a notch and it worked okay. Just in case someone else was having issues definitely do a test run.
Regular household irons do not work well with HTV. They have such uneven heat distribution, you never know which part of the design is heated/adhered properly because of this. Also you never know what temperature your Iron is actually at, making it hard to properly adhere your design. We HIGHLY recommend getting a Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D for all of your HTV projects :)
Thank you! I did not know you could put heat directly onto the HTV after weeding. I just figured it would melt and needed something in between to avoid any disasters
Thank you so much for this video! I just got my cricut, and some htv and wasn't sure how to use the iron! I wasn't able to afford everything all at once.. so I'll get the mat and the press as soon as I can!
Girl, yaaaas!! Thank you!! I've seen a comparison on your channel with an iron vs. an easy press and was convinced I just couldn't do HTV since an easy press is not in my budget. I appreciate this! I'm not confident but at least I'll try.

Hello, question for you. I recently used HTV for a shirt using an iron, but the vinyl in certain areas became wrinkly. Do you know what I did wrong, and if there's a way to fix it?
Yes, the Iron is too hot in certain spots.
So...I'm doing my first iron on and your video was very helpful. Do you have any suggestions for something that's 24 inches long? Never held an iron until now and I'm in my 40's🤣
Just like the old days when you bought iron on decals, a cardboard t shirt cutout and you used your iron. I think a easy press is easier, will probably buy on.
With a household iron it is possible, because it has such uneven heat... we highly recommend if you don't have an EasyPress to get a mini. Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D
HTV comes with transfer tape included :) Here's a beginner video that will help you learn how to work with HTV: th-cam.com/video/Md-X0arZnqg/w-d-xo.html
Hmm I wonder if a silicone mat would work. I'm mostly a resin crafter (among other endless hobbies) and I know silicone holds up to A LOT of heat. I was going to do embroidery on a poly jacket but I know if I did HTV and I somehow messed up it would be an easier fix than trying to hide needle holes lol
You do not buy transfer tape with HTV, it comes with it :) Here is a beginner video about working with HTV that will help you: th-cam.com/video/Md-X0arZnqg/w-d-xo.html
When I had mine at a high setting and held it down it melts the plastic of the vinyl. Idk if i need to turn down the heat on mine or put a barrier between the plastic and my iron which I've seen many ppl do with at home irons?
So, the issue with household irons is that it's so hard to gauge what the "highest cotton" setting is, so sometimes it's way too hot, but there's no regulation with the brands. Maybe start with using a sheet of butcher paper or parchment to be a barrier?
Regular household irons do not work *amazing* with HTV. They have such uneven heat distribution, you never know which part of the design is heated/adhered properly because of this. You can place a Teflon Sheet: amzn.to/36Z6usA or some Butchers Paper: amzn.to/2Iwid8G in between the design and the heat plate if you'd like, but it's not necessary for most projects :)
Thank you for the video - after watching the video I tried ironing on my image and after 30 seconds the plastic coating was practically melting and the iron on material started melting as well... not sure what to do.
Oh no!! Sounds like your iron was just too hot. Unfortunately we've been seeing more and more issues with using HTV with a household iron that we've stopped recommending it :( The biggest reason we made this video was because at the time EasyPresses were so expensive, but they aren't anymore! Household Irons have such uneven heat distribution, you never know which part of the design is heated/adhered properly because of this. Also you never know what temperature your Iron is actually at, making it hard to properly adhere your design. if the material is cotton/poly blend, what setting on the iron should be used?
