The more I watch these video's..the more confident I start to feel. Cutting your hoses longer at first is a great tip. You could always go back to shorten the hose..but you can't make it longer. I love your new tank and Emperor Angel Fish Kev! Good job making this video easy to understand for beginners like me! Appreciate all you do!❤❤❤😊
Bro first of all Simper Fi! I can't tell you how many of your videos I watched most of them more than once. You have been so helpful on so many levels. I just finished setting up my FX2 on my 85gal tank and everything went just as you said. Thanks again Marine!

Your Fluval setup videos are always the best around. Used them for all my Fluval canister setups. Very helpful and clearly shot video of all angles so we don’t get lost. Appreciate you !
Kev you're always on point and extremely helpful idk where I'd be without you and the information you give to us like I said truly think you're the GOAT in this hobby of fish keeping especially African Cichlids

Me too. I just installed a Fluval 107 canister filter on my 20 gallon tall. I was tired of messing with a sponge filter that really wasn’t keeping my aquarium filtered. I have a question, can I use those clips for the hoses on mine? The clips provided with my filter are really difficult for my older hands.

Kaveman, you are a G! "You cant do that", ooook, "watch, me" Appreciate the knowledge sharing and definitely makes me feel like im able to tackle a saltwater tank. Loved everything, except that the NY Giants Canvas...😂
I have 2 FX 6's on my 215 gallon saltwater tanks haven't had a problem with them. Nice I been doing it for 30.year and I've put fish in a couple days by seeding my new tank with a little gravel from my old tanks.
Alright, you got me into prime & stability, & you got me into switching out all my HOBs to fluval canister filters. My man, you gotta slow down, it’s getting expensive! 😂😂😂
Something about getting new filters always made me super excited idk why I can’t wait to get my own house so I can get a bigger fish tank I only got 40gal breeder and 55 and 30 I want a 125 maybe bigger
I love all your tips and tricks. Currently I have a hang on the back filter. I’d like to upgrade to a fluval canister. I have a 36 gal tank, 2 wave makers, bottom sprung air filter and a few air bubbles. What size fluval should I get? BTW, I work in hospice and with veterans. The aquarium is calming after a day of work. Thank you for your service too.
Question, doesn’t running the UV Clarifier kill the products your dosing the tank with (Prime & Stability)? Or do you just turn the UV off before dosing? Love that Emperor Angelfish! I too have been hesitant to go to saltwater because of all the factors you heard about what it takes to keep a saltwater tank
Great question! Theres nothing to kill in prime. But yes it will kill the bacteria in Stability. While cycling a tank using the Prime and Stability method UV should always be off!
I’ve never done that. I take is at the bottom, output is at the top. By keeping them on the same side you create a vortex in the tank, great for detritus removal. 😁 Checkout my video on “wavemaker placement” for more on that 😁
Man I’m so ready to start my tank. But I’m nervous lmao. Question, being that I’m impatient. Would i be able to add the pearl beach after it has water or should i wait (impatiently) to put that in first?
Trigger fish, definitely! I want a pare of Maroon Clowns, and 1-2 more big angels! And dont worry...I dont think they'll stay in this 100 for too long lol HINT HINT
Great video, I’ve purchased this canister for my future 30 gallon. I also have a small question on the uv filter attached to the canister, you think it’s required as I’m going to be using rodi SaltWater. Thanks!
They really can go either way, thats the way I prefer. if you have algae or clarity issues and have tried everything in my book - bit.ly/clearH2O Then yes, a UV will get you over that hump!
Hey brother. I'm a subscriber. Question. Should I rinse my Carib Sea Cichlid sand before I put it in the tank??? I'm confused because the package says there is live bacteria in it I think. Thanks in advance for your response.
You should always rinse any sand before using EXCEPT if its LIVE Sand. Rinsing it will kill off the live beneficial Bacteria that you just paid for lol Your live sand should also come with packets to add to the water to help clump together the dust so your filter can remove it. Great question though! 😁
When Fluval starts coming to you for insight, can you tell them to stop with the ribbed hoses please lol unless there is some benefit to it(which I dont see any, seems like it wouldn't flow as smooth as a... smooth hose. And also seems like a pain to clean)
@KaveManAquatics you have a lot more experience than I do. Do you feel the ribbed hoses hinder performance or do the ribs make them more difficult to clean?
Eh. I rinsed it anyways. Actually upon further investigation,I found that the instructions are to rinse it. Gonna strat a channel in a minute on my journey. Be sure to subscribe. I did get that FX6 bro....big dog filter. Got the Chem pure blue too. You and Cichlid Bros do good work, although the latter didn't respond...... I think. If he did I apologize. Getting ready to start the 75 gal today. Doing about 15 good peacocks
Congrats on the new journey. As hard as we try to respond to comments, unfortunately some of them slip through the cracks. Its the nature of having a big channel. 🤷♂️
I know and understand. You and Cichlid Bros seem to be pretty busy . I know it's a lot of work. I'd like to email you or however you prefer a video of my new 75 gal...( not my gal now..😂). If you don't mind. Somehow the ammonia seems to be there already. But I'm a wait like 5 days and check again. FX6???
Kev, are you concerned about fish jumping out with no lid on the tank? & why? Idk how Fluval hasn't made you an ambassador by now. You make better videos than they do. Lol
🤣🤣🤣 Scream that louder my bro! Not concerned with this tank cause there’s only 1 fish. Nothing to spike him and cause him to jump. 🤞🤞🤞 With that being said, lid is on the way 😁
Guy at the store telling me put seawater and let the tank sit for 2 weeks before putting fish im transitioning over from fresh to saltwater so any help and advice would help thank you kaveman long time fan
Not necessary to wait if you use the Prime and Stability method - I highly recommend my Saltwater Beginners Series, it'll be very helpful for you 😁 - th-cam.com/play/PLP5OXTIIDO8NbRvnSo_c72xhg5UxYXyiD.html
Correct! UV kills all bacteria in the water column, good and bad. While your established BB is on your surfaces, dosing a liquid product is temporarily in the water column. After about an hour or so you can turn your UV back on 😁 - Great Question!!
@@KaveManAquatics Gotcha! I am watching you setup and didn't see that. I saw the unboxing and the new tank and assumed you were just starting the cycle, etc. Thanks for the content!!
You're not wrong with it on the bottom, thats the natural order of media. But a while back I changed the order only on the FX series canisters. Have it in the top tray to make it more convenient for removal and replacement. Still works like a charm! 😁

Great video kev! Don’t forget your fx2 is going to auto purge every 12 hrs so hopefully it doesn’t keep splashing your wall!

You can make it longer using a plastic union.
Is it possible to put a sponge filter over the intake? To keep fry from being sucked up into the canister.
Absolutely. Look up “pre-filter sponge”. 😁

A UV is never required. Its a preference that does help maintain water clarity, but I've gone years without one without any problems.
I like more the oase biomaster they come with pre filter and its way more easy to clean.
The marine 3.0 is really nice.. I have all the flavors of lights they offer .. aquasky and the plant 2.0.. but the marine is so much.. nicer

@KaveManAquatics you have a lot more experience than I do. Do you feel the ribbed hoses hinder performance or do the ribs make them more difficult to clean?

Just use Prime during your water changes. But with a new tank you need Prime daily as it cycles.
