I know some high end movie theatres have something like a machine with specific chemicals and a fan that wafts certain scents around. It would just be a matter of scaling that down. What I think would come in the next 50 years would be something along the lines of virtual reality that connects to you and tricks your brain into thinking it's smelling something. That would be way more efficient.
I would bring my own plate and set it beside that wok while he is cooking the fried rice. All that rice and shrimp falling off would be enough for my lunch or dinner.

They are strret vendors trying to sell their product. They cook the shrimp differently and make the garnishes look attractive but they are not selling anything but shrimp fried rice and they made 2 large portions so they wouldn't have to make more for a while or they just sell what they have and go home.

They make good food while showing off their decorating skills with those tomatoes. Now that's dedication and skill. 👍
