Currently using the Oticon zircon Zircon MiniRiTE. I could not be happier, the amount of hearing it's given me. I have come to hate taking them out and remembering just what I've been missing. I can not thank this channel enough for all the information it's given me and the push it's given me to get hearing aids. i owe this channel a debt of gratitude I will never be able to repay. From the bottom of my heart thank you all.

I'm an audiologist. I've fit all brands, I rely mostly on Oticon and Phonak. I too have fit many Intents in the last year and found this video very helpful. I really like how he is very honest and transparent... the + or - 1dB calibration for the receivers made me ask more questions than feel any sort of relief.
I'll be back for more content :)

I'm in the UK and going to have a hearing check on the 3rd of January. I've been researching many hearing aids online and also speaking to friends who use them. I have a friend who uses the Oticon Intent 2s, saying they are a game changer, so I'm leaning towards them. This was a very informative video, Mathew. Many thanks for the honest reviews.

I will be upgrading my HA in September. I'm leaning toward the Phonak Sphere. But time will tell. My Lumity life sucks with double tap which I was forced to partially turn it off. My audio on phone calls is also distorted about 50% of the time and a years worth of complaints to Phonak has gotten me nowhere. That all said, the Sphere is a major upgrade and hearing in background remains a big issue. It will be Sphere vs. Intent I think.

I have been wearing the Oticon Intent for the past 5 weeks. I am new to hearing aid so I have no prior experience with other brands to compare them to. Currently, I am being treated for Tinnitus although it turns out that I have a slight hearing loss. Thus far, I like the Bluetooth connectivity to my iPhone and picking up calls by tapping my ear. I’ve had no problems with connecting. I usually wear them for an overage of 18 hours daily and charge them when I wake up in the middle of the night and they fully change within a couple of hours.

I wear the Oticon More1. I’ve generally been satisfied with them, but they are my first HAs and so I really do not have much experience to judge them with. I did try a pair of Phonak before deciding on the Oticon. I am an avid cyclist and my audiologist was able to design a program setting that worked very well for muting wind noise, but allowed me to carry on a conversation with my riding buddies. He was unable to do the same with the Phonak. I recently trialed a pair of Phonak Audeo Sphere and was impressed with their speech in noise performance. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to try them while cycling.

I was new to hearing aids 14 months ago when I was prescribed them by the NHS in the UK. These are quite basic hearing aids but did help with my hearing. After a year I decided to buy some and after trying the Phonak and Oticon offerings I chose the Oticon Intent 1. I have been wearing them daily for almost 2 months. They are much better than the free NHS ones which you would expect.
The Bluetooth connectivity to my iPhone and Apple Watch has been flawless although one tends to connect a second or two after the first but that isn’t an issue for me. I don’t use the app very much but when I have it has worked fine. Phone calls are great with them as is streaming of music although the sound quality isn’t as good as my Apple AirPods.
I have to say I am not sure about their claims regarding speech in background noise such as restaurants or a noisy pub as I was expecting. I do notice the sound shift when I move my head some something is happening but I was expecting more background noise isolation.
I am coming up to the end of the 60 day returns window and am unsure whether I am going to keep or return them and, if I do return, what I would replace them with.

I have recently purchased the Oticon Intent 1 after also trialling the Phonak Infinio Sphere. I agree with everything Matthew has said in this video. I personally found little difference between the two devices in "Speech in Noise" situations. They both performed better than my previous Phonak Virto P90 IIC hearing aids (but neither were perfect). The deciding factor for me was the size and fit of the Intent 1 hearing aids. I am battling through the Bluetooth LE Audio issues with the Oticon Intent, having just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S24+ and I find the Bluetooth connection is stable and good quality. I'm now looking for a compatible laptop, which after testing various laptops in John Lewis and Currys, they are few and far between (but its only a matter of time before more laptops become compatible). As for the Oticon app, its fine. Maybe not as flexible and configurable as the Phonak Infinio Sphere but I find it simpler and easier to live with (I don't need to keep going into the app, I just leave the Oticon Intent to adjust itself to the situation I'm in). If you can overcome the size of the Phonak Infinio Sphere its probably a better all round package (e.g. bluetooth, app, charger etc), but it comes down to personal preference and I'm happy with my choice to go with the Oticon Intent 1 hearing aids.

Old school here: kirkland 9.0 4-5 years. I can always connect to my Moto G stylus 5G bilaterally. If I am streaming a movieor music from my tablet or phone I can choose to answer a phone call by long pressing a button on either aid and I will connect immediately if the phone is within 30 feet. The stream or video pauses while I am on the phone call and resumes once I hang up. What is the problem with these newer aids not being able to replicate this? I am sure my speech recognition and noise etc. are poorer than a new $$ set of aids but so far it seems one step forward and one step back. I have another six months on my kirkland warranty after they were buffed up. So, i am still on the fence. Thanks for the updates. Jim

I upgraded from the Oticon More 1 to the Real 1. You are right; there is little difference. They are good HAs, but I have enormous trouble hearing in restaurants and crowds. I think the Oticons are more effective with high-frequency loss, which I have, than the Phonak, which I previously wore. But I am now considering the Phonak Sphere due to its superior noise reduction.

I am wearing them right now and they are great. Bluetooth is vastly inferior to Phonak but sound quality is fantastic. Only issue on my part is have good low end but high end and i can hear the static noise. Will probably have to return them because of that.

trying out right now both Starkey Edge + and Phonak Infinio Audeo Sphere. Results to date: Phonak bluetooth connectivity far better - to my Google Pixel 8 phone and my HP Spectre 360 laptop. Starkey cannot connect to the laptop - major bummer. Sound: Phonak drives me nuts, too loud (suspect setup defective), cannot satisfactorily reduce background noise without invoking sphere feature, which vastly reduces battery life. Also has a retention echo, as tho in a tin can, which is very irritating. Starkey's clarity also needs improvement, tho it is better. The Edge feature, the highly touted DNN, is questionable - unsure how much it actually helps. In sum, if my audiologist cannot improve the Phonak sound, it it going back. That may also be true of the Edge, with marginal sound quality and disappointing bluebooth connectivity.

I don’t know when you recorded this video, but I’ve been fitting Starkey hearing aids with Auracast for a month or more.
They are also proving very successful in reducing background noise.
41-51 hour battery life! ( the longest available)
    Waterproof too!
Regarding the amount of Oticon hearing aids are in use, the majority of free NHS aids are Oticon. Much older technology, I believe that Engage is OPN 2.
Oticon Intent is an excellent hearing aid & I highly recommend them.
