- I love crab because it is so versatile, you can do anything with it! What do you think about these amazing crab cakes with lemon mayo? You can use any crab you like, or even use surimi. The great thing about these cakes is that you can prepare them in advance and cook them later, an ideal party dish!

They look really good, like the look of the lemon mayonnaise. We had an Orkney crab mousse yesterday from the supermarket yesterday, really tasty with toasted tortillas, wouldn't even have fancied trying that if it had not been from following your channel. Thank You Bart, always a pleasure to tune in on Friday's,( even though its now Saturday, this video seemed to come through later than usual) and the odd one on Jamie's Food Tube. Sorry, I don't seem to be able to do short comments.

Crabs are a food I like very much, like much this recipe.
Bart! A really lovely recipe. Cooking in San Francisco in my early days we used Dungeness crab. I've never had better. Thank you for sharing this delicious video. Blessings ChefMike.
+Vincenzos Plate The Dungeness crab are amazing. Shrimp are not as local, yet San Francisco is a major area for seafood of all types.

Great video. Question, could you use anything at all besides crab meat? For example chicken, fish, vegetables or tofu?
If you don't have or like crab, you could use chopped white fish too! I've never tried it with chicken, veggies or tofu but it sounds interesting!

Excellent recipe! I just discovered your channel and is absolutely incredible. I watched some of your videos and you use mayonnaise often. I am sugar intolerant and I cannot eat conventional mayonnaise. Instead of making my own, may I substitute it with something else?
Sour cream would be a gd substitute if you can tolerate it :)

Stupid question, what do I do with the oil after cocking with it? is it ok to just poor it down the drain? Is there a way of using it again? Or will that just make the oil taste of rancid crab?
Put it in a empty bottle and into the bin. I wouldn't recommend using it again really or putting it in the drain.

Use peanut or vegetable oil to avoid burning!

No crabs here, I live on the east coast of Sweden, and the sea is mostly dead :-( Thank god for fresh water fish! You should come and see what you can do with it. Are you game for it? :-)
I'd rather not, I'll wait for fresh crabs. Until then I'll eat my fresh fish, woe is me :-D
