    Thank you so much! I'm very nervous about starting my first VATSIM flight later on tonight, but I feel a little bit more prepared now that I've watched this little mini series. Hope to see you in the skies one day!

    @ 23:01 You ran into a ground vehicle! Medic! Outside of that, I have totally enjoyed your videos from start to end. I felt like I was sitting there in a real cockpit. Listening I was fully impressed...and fully intimidated as well. I'm new to all FSX and just subscribed to VatSim. I think I have a lot more to learn and a lot of practicing to do before I actually attempt to talk with them live. Awesome job and thanks!

    Actually one of the best vatsim tutorials. Very informative, and everyhing seems clear even though i fly an airbus and have never flown a boeing. Thanks bro

    I’ve just done my first flight from hamburg to gatwick and it was mental. I was sweating during the approach as it was so crowded and the controller was going way fast becouse of the traffic. I’ve missed the approach once and almost ran out of fuel but I somehow managed to get priority for my fuel issues. After I finally landed my legs and hands were shaking becouse of the stress I have gone trough. This really helped I dont really know what I would have done If it wasnt for this tutorial, thank you so much mate I really appriciate it!

      My first flight went great, ATC was very friendly, I did a second flight today in the Scottish Event, everyone was also nice, but had to disconnect during landing because of a sim issue (I dont even know what happened my plane just started going straight up lol). Thanks again for all your videos, keep up the good work!

    Thank you for this series, it's a great memory refresher for me after a couple years away from the sim. One note though: You should not make it sound like it is forbidden/grounds for getting banned if you miss your exit and the other one goes around. It's still better to tell tower you missed your exit and delay the one behind you than exiting at 60+ knots on wet pavement with reverse still blasting. Don't know about the UK but those are normally limited to less than 60knt in dry conditions. If Vatsim still claims to have realistic ops, they should deal with that.

    Thanks for more great videos. Around 13:53 when told by ATC to "establish localizer", isn't that clearing for just the localizer (horizontal navigation), and not including the glideslope for the ILS? You say at 14:49 that "we're clear for the ILS", but that's what I question, or want to learn. Can you clarify?

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Henrik! Thanks for the comment and the question too... I've tried to break it into basics by simplifying procedures within reason. You're right when ATC say "establish on the localiser" you can establish on the ILS but not necessarily the glideslope - though they usually say "when established descend on the glide" or words to that effect allowing you to descend on the ILS too. There are a few variables involved that would definitely extend the video even more but I wouldn't worry about splitting it up to be honest... 9.5/10 you'll be able to establish AND descent on the glideslope (hence merging it to try keep it simple) 😅

    Good to remember that the speed to use a high speed taxiway varies greatly on the aerodrome, but in general the max speed is about 50kts. I've had a new guy on vatsim who used it at about 80kts or so and lost control and crashed right into the aircraft on the taxiway lol

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      😂😂 yeah I mean, 80kts would to most be far too quick so I guess this guy was running super late 😂

    I have a question around 15:00 if you were cleared for ILS why did he give you a clearance to 3000 feet? Wouldn’t an ILS clearance imply that you can go down all the way?
    Also firstly you were made to fly heading 235 and establish on localizer, does that mean that you can only establish laterally and not vertically? Because by arming approach you would risk descending below 4000 feet if the localizer has been captured, or am I missing something?

    Thanks a lot for your videos. They’ve got me so far in vatsim and Im loving it . I know you started your descent on your own and notified it on Unicom. But when do you then know to switch frequency back to the center or approach. Do you figure that out on your own ?

      Great to hear they're really useful! Basically yes - unless you get a ding ding ding noise and they contact you via text in vpilot asking you to tune to them and speak to them (easier than trying to remember where all the airspaces disect!)

    Thanks so much for this one (and all the others too) - you've got me going on Vatsim. I've watched a few times now as I tried the same approach this week but was too high for the localiser so had to go around. When cleared for the approach are you able to go below the 4000' (on the video you had a further instruction to 3000' but I didn't get that on mine hence why I was over the GS)?

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey, great video but I still have a quick question: I´ve done only a few flights on vatsim yet but I´ve had one problem pop up on descend multiple times. So basically the controller has given me a direct to a certain waypoint, but that waypoint was not on my flightplan. I´m wondering how that can happen? They see the star that I selected and they didn´t give me another one so the waypoint should be there right? Hope you still respond to the comment, even though the video is 4 months old and thank you in case you really do respond.

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      That can happen though it depends on the approach too not just the star - the transition from the star to an ILS approach can have multiple waypoints to choose from.
      In any case you'd type the waypoint into the FMS and add it at the top as a direct to in the 737 (or any other way depending what aircraft you are flying)
