yeah, i'm gonna need another julie/col album as soon as possible. in fact fuck it, make her a permanent member of the band. mariner was a top to bottom fucking masterpiece.
I keep going back to min 10 after the song is over and listen again to that section. It's the most intense thing i've heard in years in metal. The build-up is insane... what a fucking masterpiece.
Two and a half year passed and about a few hundred records later, this is still the pinnacle of music in my eyes. Best collab of all time and among my fav records of all time. Cygnus is beyond words.
I've heard plenty of amazing records since Mariner was released and I still can't find something to ever top this masterpiece. Damn what a collaboration.
This song has proven to be time and time again one of the most inspirational songs I know of. The perfect soundtrack for photo editing with headphones on 11.
Yeah I feel that. Personally I like this version better but that has more to do with me being on a sludge kick. And yeah the riffs in this song are fucking god tier and remind me a lot of Neurosis.

Thank you! There's also another vocal layer from Julie starting from 12:10 which is my favourite part And she'll be standing strong Her hair is lost in the storm Open your mouth and let air rush in
This album is like Kingdom, Vertikal and Highway all rolled into one with some epic female vocals which is something new and amazing. Just when you think this band couldn't possibly cover any more ground..
This band changed my life, it has made me appreciate life and respect death, think more deeply about our planet and what mysteries lies across the solar system. We don't have much time. I am growing older yet wiser, although, this music and others will transcend and endure. It will never truly vanish. Thank you, Cult of Luna.

Best song Cult of Luna has ever written, just goddamn perfection. And Julie Christmas is just beyond amazing in this song!!

The whole album is my subjective pick for album of the decade. We can only hope that this constellation will happen again. I would do a lot for it....really a lot, hahaha
I love that Twinkle Twinkle Little Star rendition at the end 😭 and I love this is about space. It makes me think of my Space Dragon goddess, and the unending pain she will go through as carrier/mother of the universe. What’s Julie singing at 12:16 onwards? (Besides the twinkle twinkle rendition?) and is there an instrumental of this? I want to karaoke this.
Six months ago, I was in a dark place. I was using Amenra as the soundtrack to my divorce. Now, the opposite is happening. I'm coming together with someone new, and we are using this song on repeat, as a soundtrack for never leaving the house. ....we both bust out laughing tho when the Dario Argento keyboards start up at the end, is there a mix without keyboards? ..........laughing survivor of the dark. peas.
Has anyone figured out the repeating lick that starts from 2:45? Because it's fucking awesome and I'd love to know how to play it! All the recordings I've seen aren't clear enough and my ear's not up to scratch to figure it out over all the other layers.
Jesse Lapham I agree, at least that it doesn't work with CoL. I'm actually dumfounded that this album was so well recieved. It seems to me that it flies in the face of all the advancements the band made to be unique. The instruments weren't really all that special either
The ending of this song is without a doubt the greatest moment in the history of post-metal.
Yes!
There have been a lot of moments and continue to be, but it's definitely up there.
One of the greatest. Up there with the last minute of Threshold of Transformation by ISIS.
Dark City, dead man is still, to me, the most epic black hole of Doom fuckin' ever.
But, yes, the second half of this song is fucking Epic.
yeah, i'm gonna need another julie/col album as soon as possible.

This.

Yep. I always go back to this....especially in times when the clock is getting closer to striking midnight.

One of my favourite songs of all time - what a riff, that, and that sing-song outro!
Absolutely beautiful.
The drummer(s) really needs some praise for this song. The way it supports the music and builds tension in this song truly is impressive.

I'll say. This track is awesome in its own right.

Leave her to sing her withered songs
In tunnels painted like the dawn
Bring me the echo 'til it's gone
Nothing escapes this hold
Desperate against the cold
Its flesh made out of stardust
Iron oxide into rust
To write a letter to the night
This songless, sightless, silent giant
This feeble plea
A speck of dust
A drop of sea
It's locked in you and me
Rip it out and feel its heat
Forget the way things seem to be
Meaningless to the one and only
Leave her to sing her withered songs
In tunnels painted like the dawn
Bring me the echo 'til it's gone
Nothing escapes this hold
Desperate against the cold
Its flesh made out of stardust
