Unfortunately, because of the short time they had together and Tony being oblivious to his own feelings towards Peter until close to the end, it seems Peter did not get to know just how Tony loved and cared about him. It just goes to show that love of a friend or family member should not need to wait to be expressed. I hope their relationship shows everyone how they can better love those closest to them..
