Ok so we just confirmed Jesus made another stop here on earth only to win a million dollars like a boss then fuck off. What a legend.
Aa Gg no he wasnt joseph was a carpenter
Jesus was raised by Joseph, and he very much worked as a carpenter.
Javier Belmer if jesus was a carpenter why didnt he magic the wood together?
I think you misinterpret the Bible. Magic is not the same as Miracles. Magic is an act of a human being, whereas a Miracle is an act of God. The story is written so that he was taught the value of hard work by his father, Joseph, as an apprentice.
8:14, dude repeats question to another guy on a computer you can clearly hear the typing lol
They need to bring this show back
They did, it came back to Primetime ABC in 2020 with Jimmy Kimmel after the syndicated series ended in 2019. It lasted two seasons, it's only been off American TV since 2022
8:25, you can very clearly hear the guy on the phone asking other people in the room. I think they ended up banning that, and I believe now they even have a person standing there in person to make sure you don't google the answers or ask anyone else.
You can hear it at around 5:45 as well
I even believe I heard a keyboard clacking but I could be wrong hahaha
@@bink9797 You did.
you were allowed to do it back then but later it was banned
14:26--"...deal or no deal. Oops, that show hasn't premiered yet!"
The look on his face when she says its not 100 billion...
1/18 was my birthday and I remember watching Dan win this
I love the ones where you can see the moment when the question comes up that they know they are about to win $1M
Questions used to be a lot easier back then. Nowadays I couldn't even make it to $25k
I guess they got tired of losing money and stepped it up about 10 notches lol
Could have answered that Lesotho one just as easily as the fifth guy did :P
Same with me. The other two are San Marino and the Vatican. Some people think Swaziland is, but no. It borders both South Africa AND Mozambique.
krookyj
Yep 😉
@az929292 As a geography nerd, I would have won that as a kid, Lesotho is Landlocked inside South Africa… (🇱🇸) > 🇿🇦
That second one was a $1,000,000 question?!
Fucking hell I would’ve won it at 7 years old
And talk about #6
THE OFFICE HAHA
SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN, SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!!!
Thanks Gabe!
Num 4 is too easy
The Lesotho (#5) one is easy because I’m a history nerd
@@erezsolomon3838 How about this?
Let S = {u, v, w} be linearly independent set. Then which of the following sets is NOT
linearly independent?
(A) {2u, 2v, 2w}
(B) {u, u + v, u + v + w}
(C) {u − v, v − w, w − u}
(D) None of the above
Still remember seeing Johns as it was first broadcast as a kid. Loved watching WWTBAM when i was a kid as random facts and knowledge is kind of my thing. I even went through one of the 500k winner’s questions and got every one right.
I knew Kim’s answer Lesotho is landlocked completely by South Africa

*REGIS PHILBIN: He's won a million dollars!*
*BEN TENNYSON: We have a first american Millionaire, did y'all hear it!*
*BEN TENNYSON #15: ⭐ (CORRECT!)*
Bob-O was the best one on the show. John Carpenter was another great person to be on the show! I love all these clips! Sam Murray was the best one of all. I was shocked how he got the answer right!!!
Goodman was the worst, literally asked for a Google search 😭😭
@@WelshWing98 I haven’t seen him yet I’m watching it on TH-cam TV and I’m about to see Bob House’s win. I’ll get to David eventually. Did he really ask for a Google search? I heard that there was a contestant named Steve Perry whose friend tried to look up the answer but didn’t look it up in time and he won $500,000 instead of the million.
@@WelshWing98 high-speed internet wasn't even a thing in the early 2000s, wtf are you on about?
Wow. What a cool way to use your phone a friend lifeline on the million dollar question. Mad respect for John Carpenter.
0:04 All of John Carpenter's questions, were the *ONLY* time that I knew the answer to ALL of the questions asked.
I saw that Laugh-In with Nixon as a kid. So funny! He said SOCK IT TO ME? 😂😂
19:40 the contestant teleported and was now seen in drag. Insane.
LOL
I wish was alive during the first era of this show because seeing these people win the jackpot blind would just bring tears to my eyes
It's always nice to share in the glory and successes of other people, even if I'm a bit jealous. Congratulations to all of you who now have life a little bit easier ;)
Kevin Smith winning is just so satisfying bc he made sure he knew exactly what everything was
And they say the Patriots cheat. I guess that's MUCH worse than the guy googling Paddington bear at 8:00 to 8:30.
Exactly how'd he get away with that?
@@robertwilliams5618 my understanding is that your phone-a-friend was in some hotel room paid for by the show, and it wasn't like you'd be monitored by some guard employed by the show to ensure you didn't cheat.
one thing that's easy to forget was that this show was on in a time when the internet existed, but wasn't as dominant in day-to-day life. basically the late 90s to like the early/mid-2000s
saying something like "just google it" would probably get a look of confusion from someone if they heard that, even though google did exist back then
of course, if you were really tech-savvy back then, you'd know just how powerful and efficient search engines could be as gateways to knowledge. we all know this now, but i suspect the people running the game show didn't know that back in those days
they eventually got rid of that lifeline i think because of phone-a-friends using search engines on their laptops more and more
@@samthenightowl5951 in our lovely dumbed down convict Australian version you can literally hear people typing and asking how to spell things as they look up the answer haha
@@GatherYeRosebudsWhileYeMay lol
i don't know about that, it sounded like at 8:15 he was with a group of people as you could hear him ask "anyone else" and just happened to be with someone that knew the answer. remember, dial up existed back then so there wasn't a whole lot of "looking up" in the year 2000.
10:16 Look at him when he sees the question and thinks "Please let Sikorsky be an answer"
What's crazy is that there has only been one winner since Sam Murray's. Celebrity chef David Chang won it in November 2020.
The people who made this roller coaster are definitely under fire!!!
The questions are ridiculously easy! "Where is Paddington bear from" is like the £1k question here in the UK
One comment pointed out that after 2002 they needed harder questions. Plus not a lot of this info was obvious because you didn't have the internet at the point qwhere it is today. And Paddington was never a big thing here until the movie came out. I bet "what steel driving man beat a rock drilling machine in a race to make a train tunnel" would be worth more than £1k even tho most second graders here have heard at least some variation of the John Henry story
Thought the same thing. In Germany the million dollar questions are like "name all 3 billion human DNA strings by name". Never even stood a chance.
Regional differences matter.
Yet in the UK your million pound question about the triple crown horse races would've been a lower tier question here...
@@khaotix64 🤣 It's universally recognised that the US is among the most remedial nations in the world. For those within, it's covered up with propaganda by the powers to be
“N, A, final answer Regis!” will never not be iconic.
i remember watching John Carpenter as a kid and not hearing what he said to his dad so i was yelling at the audience to stop cheering so he could read the question
That’s funny.
He didn’t have to read the question since he knew he was going to win $1,000,000.
Mom was soo happy . Heartwarming

*REGIS PHILBIN: Just won two million one hundred and eighty thousand dollars!*
*RYAN CHAR: You've just make your mom happy!*
*RYAN CHAR #15: ⭐ (CORRECT!)*
In my country, only one person took the grand prize, and before checking the final answer, they showed commercials twice and prolonged the moment as much as possible... here it's just 'final answer,' 'correct! You've won a million dollars!'
How did the 69% of the audience know the million dollar question.. wtf
Well the question was about US aircraft
@@Musicrecords10 Point? You think 69% of the audience were ex military personnel?
@@vaddix9980 It says non-military aircraft lol
@@Musicrecords10 lol it's two years ago
Just guessing because non-military started with N.
On the Meredith Vieira daytime version, great moment from Kevin Smith.
Regis: Tells you you've won a million before he's even heard your full answer
Meredith: Sends you home thinking you were wrong and calls after five years: "just kidding, you won"
One time in Romania the host had someone walking off before he admitted he was joking and he got the answer right
90% of these questions were answerable. Nowadays it's shit like "What shoes were Michael Jackson wearing when he died?" like wtf, why would an average everyday person know that? It isn't GENERAL knowledge anymore smh
Sam Murray, the final $1,000,000 winner of the original version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
4:29
*REGIS PHILBIN: He just won a million dollars! 😲*
*TOBY TENMA: YOU DID IT, JOE!* 😄👏
This was such an amazing show! My Mom and I loved watching it on ABC. I remember there was a who wants to be a millionaire book with all kinds of questions. I would have a lot of fun with that, and I would pretend to be on the show
19:40 im sure they made him put on a wig and come as his own guest lol

I think someone has come close once since then for sure. It was during the lone season Cedric the Entertainer was host. During a special celebrity week in 2013, Charles "Chip" Esten, best known for "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and "Nashville", got up to the million dollar question, but he chose to walk with $500,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
It's weird to think that sex has happened at least 100 billion times.
Much more than that when you consider the unsuccessful attempts at pregnancy.
xd
Sex has probably happened 100 billion times just in the last 10 years.
The only one not clapping in these wins is the janitor.
He's probably going "F*ck.... Now I got to clean up all this mess......."
It's a damn shame I got most of these right and never made a dime on it lol
10:05 This episode just came on GSN again today. (02/19/24)
Really happy for him!
