Heres another detail: when injured and idle, your character will react to their injuries, such as inspecting their hand when its scratched or lacerated or having an unstable stance when you have leg injuries, if you want to see this its best to climb through a uncleared window instead of just getting attacked by zombies, you can also just look at the tutorial lady after spiffo makes you hurt yourself via lacerations
I'm not sure if you knew, but this even affects the rate that you gain experience slightly, since the character is exercising faster. Obviously the amount of experience required to level up goes up a lot more per level than the speed of exercise though.
Another interesting thing that most players won't see is above a certain sprint level (I think around 5-7) your character sprints with a much smoother gait, instead of swinging their torso, which is a poor form of running. Really cool detail 99% of players wont see since its hard to level

Hey Atomic duck, do you have a guide on exercise? I'd really like to know more about how to exercise properly, I've never advanced a level in it but it sounds fun?
i use when in a server to keep my character warm when my character gets cold when doing it eventually the cold tag from the night air when hiding in a house the character starts to get cold so doing push ups or other exercises helps your character warm up
I think it's a good thing in the game to haave a "daily routine", get up and watch the TV program at 6 to raise cooking, do a little exercise, check equipment and then head out to get that sweet sweet loot.
If you have strength or fitness at 7 or higher, the character not only performs at an even better level than 4-6, but they also perform the exercise noticably faster
I do this when I have lots of food and a bed I'll just do a long exercise sleep for very long and keep doing it until the bar is full and then have a few rest days then I'll be good to go and explore for more fun
this makes me wonder why they didn't add different animations for weapons like if your bad at aiming then the character doesnt hold the gun properly and as you level up the character starts to holding the gun properly
The time it takes is waaaay too long for someone with not a ton of hours to game, which is why i always install exhaustion boosts exercise gains mod, and use the gym-goer trait from more traits! And even then it still takes a good couple weeks to get from 5 to 7 in strength and fitness

hey man go check out cdda for a good zombie game whist you wait for zomboid to add more content won't be disappointed if you can get over the learning curve
this is especially important when you consider that quicker movements allow for faster exercise and actually net you experience faster, high fitness also means you can do more of those exercises
each fitness trait affects the speed that you can do exercises. a character with five fitness can do them a normal speed. if you have fit you will do them a little faster. and finally if you have athletic you can do them at the fastest speed. 10 minutes of push-ups will give you the same amount of experience as 30 minutes of push-ups if your character is unfit. so if you pick athletic and weak you can get to level 5 strength quick and get the 4 fitness for free(?)

Over a certain age a squat should come with "fart". Then you have a giggle + struggle to get back into the "groove".
for some who might not even know this affect your exp gains, because you gain the XP when every rep is finished. if animation is slower
I like the fatbuff approach. Sack 3 fitness for 5 str. Also have a calorie cushion to avoid underweight until you can get a base goin.
the leg failing is so cool
level 10 should give you another set of animations with one legged squats and diamond pushups or one armed pushups
