A brilliant talk. I retired 2 years ago from a career in protected areas management. Eco tourism may not solve all problems facing many communities but it can be a win win for both the local economy and local environment.

Eco Tourism is definitely a necessity for protecting ecosystems and uplifting small communities💚 However, it should be a supplemental economic model where possible as any tourism industry is reliant on people coming to you. Covid-19 was a prime example of what happens when no one can travel! 😕

Very well said Natalia, we are in central India jungles and attempting deep ecotourism initiatives in our pursuit for conservation, community and culture.

Very good presentation. Natalia. I enjoyed listening to the sound of birds. I love nature and appreciate its beauty. ❤ My children were birdwatching here in Colorado. Biodiversity is beautiful! There are many conservation efforts all over the world and some birds, local and migratory, are among the endangered species. Those of us who grew up close to nature may just be used to paying more attention to our environment and the impact of changes in climate, air quality, etc. Hopefully, with the extensive conservation efforts, things in our environment will change for the better. 😊

Great talk, Natalia. Judy and I travel for birding several times a year, usually to tropical countries, and we have benefitted from the knowledge of local guides. (We have even traveled with you, to the Dominican Republic in 2015.)

I loved this. I enjoyed bird-watching tourism in costa rica recently and loved being able to support local birding guides while fulfilling my desire to see and photograph some amazing birds. Natalia, where did you get that dress? :)

Harness your passion for conservation and sustainability to create meaningful change. By valuing local knowledge and supporting eco-friendly tourism, you can protect endangered species and uplift tropical communities. Bird watching tourism exemplifies this, transforming lives by placing economic value on ecological expertise and fostering environmental stewardship. Choose to travel responsibly, supporting local guides and preserving natural habitats, and together, we can bridge global divides to protect our planet's biodiversity.
