The effectiveness of electrical devices is how well the smoke is retained in the components. When the smoke leaks out they stop working. Something that old is just having some of the smoke leak out.
Yeah in the 90s, computers ran on smoke and mountain dew... so, the aroma was indeed period-correct for the sound generation. For example, digital Eurorack smells like vape juice and redbull. That's why I buy only vintage analog - I'll take the fragrance of pipe smoke and brandy over the other options, any day of the week!
The Motor Synth is such a fascinating device. Not the cheapest thing out there to say the least but fascinating. Love the industrial vibes on the last track but the bubbly one is also very nice.
This is the best youtube channel ever, I've never been so inspired to write music before, please make an online class or something, I wanna do what your doing!
That zumiez sticker on the DS just sent me into a nostalgia coma, my old CRT was covered in that sticker and I’m p sure smash melee was burned into it bc of how often it was played
I like how you guys included a "what have you learned today" section in this video. What I've learned today, is that Russ could costar in an anime specifically for UwU voiceovers, and would probably make a killing. Also, I now feel the need buy Tomogachi guitar pedal, so i can see what kind of pet i will raise . Great work guys!
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I always like seeing the tamagotchi style v-pets pop up in different places over the years. I’ve seen a car radio with a tamagotchi incorporated into it, but I think that was a custom job and not so much a mass produced product. My favorite part though, was you mixing the Motor Synth with Rubber Ducks. “Gears of Ducks”.
Got to say it, this episode turned out fun and epic in oh so many levels! Love your ability to take whatever pedal and make something good, fun or both with it! 🤩
hey uhh just so u know, professional divers do actually need to check their oxygen as the body does not use it up at a steady rate all the time, they have a good while depending on the tank size but like, you still need to know the levels and you can still run out of air. edit: its really easy for some people to just get lost in the beauty of the oceans and lose track of time
@@taylor3950ye thats a bit of a danger, and its why when diving you always have a buddy, not only are animals less likely to attack you (the chance was already tiny tho), but it ads redundancy, and worst case scenario I bet there might be a 2 for 1 deal at a cemetery somewhere. (jokes, but actually diving is awesome and especially if its like under a 10m dive, its honestly really safe, but you should still really have a good sense of what can go wrong, on the off chance something does)
This is peak music gear, nothing can top this. And the tamagochi is made by the same brand that made the Amaterasu treble boost (GroundControlAudio). Good stuff Ps. Love the Zelda music in the unboxing,

Hey Russ and Emily Hopkins! Thanks for this vid that is overflowing with fun! The only thing that could have improved it is Kevin! Kevin deserves more cameos and snacks! Please give him one right now! Ride ride ride!
The underwater one was definitely my favourite. The reversing effect somehow reminded me of when you're standing in the shallow end of a pool and look down at your refracted short legs distorted by the waves on the surface. Diolch am y gerddoriaeth / Thanks for the music!

Ok, so I absolutely stopped this video 3 minutes in so that I could go preorder the UwU pedal😂 I needed to add a buffer anyway, but now I have a buddy that will keep me on my practice schedule❤ Thank you for your amazing videos, these are my favorite gear focused videos. Always leaves me inspired to get into the weeds of sound and music.
I find your vids in my YT suggestions thing lately and have been enjoying them. All the pedals you show I appreciate learning of and your harp skills a great bonus. This vid especially I have a friend to share to because we were just looking at the Cheshire kitty keyboard (1:40) for his son at Amazon this weekend.
paraphrasing Emily Ive learned today, that all your music pieces are masterpieces and you give them to us in a homeopathic dose which definitely its not enough!
It is so insane for me how far we've come in terms of musical gear and tech. I knew that there are a lot of strange and gimmicky pedals, drum machines and synths, but it took me seeing your collection and hearing songs you make to realise and process how numerous and different they all are. And the fact that you can make actual beautiful music with them and not just some random goofy ass meme type of song. Its insane. Edit: finished the video, God damn the last piece was beautiful.
❤ everything in this is so cool, and yeah cute games that have a timer stress me out why make it fun but give you panic mode when oxygen runs out. Lmao "did you use it as an ash tray"
Korg also has a version of gadget for VR thats similar to the switch but you get to pretend you have synths around you. 🤣 They also have an upgraded version of the DS game on iphone that has a neat voice thing in it too!
Such a gamble when it comes to second hand instruments. Smoke smells and electronics..... Such a pain in the ass to clean. Those game soundtracks are killer though!
Meow! Making Nyan Cat actually cute. The Motor Synth brings back the Conn Strobotuner vibes! And Tamagotchis were all the rage back when I was in elementary school in the nineties.
I wish I had enough pedals to where I had to stand on a chair to reach the one I wanted😭 Great video! The weird music gear themed ones are my favorite.
The fact that you subtly lit a candle in the background after opening the stinky synth is storytelling at it's finest. (and then you immediately hit us with a cat version of Spiritualized). And what if there's an underwater game where you play an actual fish who actually lives in the ocean? Groundbreaking. ... I miss RadioShack.
Your channel is so grand! Harp and pedal steel are my two favorite instruments. Please bring in a pedal steel player and make some ambient music together 🙏
When I grow up I also want a magic shelf that holds all the effects pedals that ever existed and I can just pull out the one that I need.

Russ saying “uwu” is at once the cutest and most startling thing I’ve heard from him
😂 😂
Makes me wonder what would of been his previous employment. Cause that "uwu" projection was far too perfect
Wait till you hear his elmo...
Oh no
Not as wild as some of hte stuff Robo Russ said

And if you blow any electronics, they smoke.. I think you might be on to something.

Russ's UWU kinda undefeated 😭😭😭😭

Dude I remember spending SO MUCH TIME with that Korg DS synth. +1 for that!

I remember buying it with a 3.5mm to 1/4 exactly to sample it 😂 Now I don't even know where it is.
I'm going to hear Russ saying "Uwu!" in my nightmares
Russ says “You’re welcome”

oh no ... not the stinky synth ......
All this talk of oxygen meters is giving me flashbacks to the early tomb raider games. I sucked at those levels, Lara got drowned way too many times.

I was half expecting the Duck Pedal to just go QUACK

omg i had the idea for a tamagotchi/virtual pet pedal a couple years ago- love that someone made it happen even if its just a buffer🥰
