hi Mike aka the "pvc pusher", you are one lucky bar steward..................what a place you live in !!! Fishing is a craft like any other , as ive seen you master most crafts you try im sure youll master that one too. Thing is with fishing is to never run out of tea................a rookie mistake on your part me thinks.............tea , fishing , rain and an umberella........heaven on earth . Keep golden pony boy. regards Alan
Music beds can be useful but the thundering mechanical heartbeat of the engine is a hatful of happiness. An ominous bank of mist is spotted rolling in! What evil hides within: The Blair Witch? The Kandarian Demon from The Evil Dead? Or Old Furryfeet squatting in a cloud of steam emanating from the gargantuan dump he's just took? Tune in next time to find out, folks!
Hi Mike, great to see you fly fishing. You may want to try casting from the elbow rather than the wrist, it'll tighten those loops & you'll get less tangles. I was always advised to slip the rod butt into your sleeve to stop the wrist "breaking". Anyway tight lines & happy travels.
Thanks for the outing! BTW, Victorinox just released a new knife called the Venture. As soon as I saw it, I thought, that looks like the knife Mike designed. Wish I could have gotten one while they were available.
Love to see you putting your character and humour into the vids now Mike, fantastic to see! migratory subscriber here, delighted to see these new vids!
A excellent video Mike 🤘🏻 I have eaten the lady of the lake once and never again as where I'm from there very very rare but o my days super tasty ! Me and the Mrs were out fishing and we gilled it and when we went to put it back in it went belly up I ran into the river with my net and retrieved it and we had a delicious supper 👍🏻 keep up the great videos and glad you and your family are doing well after your bad times you've had ! Much love from fezz and little roe 💜
aaa, when i saw you cook the Greyling (Harr) the right way and not breaded as the Pearch i smiled :). Also using flour and pepper for breading is quite oldschool i Norway and Sweden so it works great imo. Personally i stuff the Greylings or Trouts with juniper and juniper berries if avaliable or even Crowberries. Makes for a good wilderness taste Snake
That was a sweet overnight trip. Fishing is something that I really need to pick back up. Now that I am home again and recovering from the radiation treatments, plans can be made to finally get back out to the local lake. Cheers Mike.🤙
Hey man! You changed, a lot! I’ve been watching you since your first TH-cam videos! This new sense of humor I actually like, is probably something that doesn’t go along with people on TH-cam often 😂 anyways, I just got mine roof top tent! Wild Land Normandy 120. Pretty exited on that. As always, thanks for the inspiration Mike. I just don’t know how can you go camping with the kid. I have a son, same age (3,5). He can go up and down to the tent 100x times before we even think of setting a camp. I hope he can get used to it more as he gets older. Cheers buddy!!!
Hey, thanks for tuning in! I've always had this sense of humour, I just have more adult audience now that seems to appreciate it. Congratulations on the new tent, they are fantastic and I don't think you will be disappointed. I don't camp alone with Max yet, we all go as a family because its difficult to manage a 3.5 year old in such an environment, especially with a ladder. I'm sure he will get use to it, maybe initial excitement of something new but i'm sure it will all become more normal. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Mike! Relaxing video, as usual :)) From my experience, you will have better hook up on perch if you use smaller shad, 4-5 cm. They will also taste better if you salt them a couple of hours before cooking. Have you ever considered a foldable fire pit? It has it's advantages. All the best to you and your loved ones!
Hi Mike thanks for sharing your adventures. Great channel. I know you’re a fly fishing beginner but try to flex your wrist less when casting. Cast more with your arm as an extension to the rod with your wrist locked and you’ll find it easier and have more control.
Nice work. Been out at ours twice this summer (further up the 365 near Skellefealven). Back home now and really missing it already. Found a top way to eat Pike this summer .... which makes use of the fact that filleting can often leave you with lots of small bits.... zip lock bag with flour, salt and pepper, chilli and whatever else you like. Chuck em in. Shake about. Cast iron pan with a cm or two of rapeseed oil, on the fire... chuck in the breaded pike bits. And the great bit ... dip your fried and seasoned pike bits in Aiolli. Delicious. Went down a storm even with Pike naysayers. Love that fly rod .... bargain. I can't advise much on fly fishing as I am as bad as you.
Sounds like a lovely way to cook a pike. I normally eat them using that 5 fillet method although I haven't eaten any this summer. I took a photo of your comment so I can remember the method and I will try it out. Sounds pretty good! Sounds like you had a nice trip, where are you guys based?
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Our place is in Järvträsk (near Glommersträsk), so a couple of hours North of you. I use pretty much the 5 fillet method too, but with smaller pike this can leave lots of smaller bits if, like me, you don't like waste.. I just cut up the 5 fillets and add the smaller bits to the flour mix. Honestly, there was a bun fight for the crispy bits.
I'm also only learning fly fishing. However, I've already got an incredibly comprehensive fly tying kit I picked up on gumtree for a song. There seems to have been a lot of a certain generation of men passing away of late, so there are bargains to be had!
Based on your comments I thought that those perch were going to go through a woodchopper. But I thought they were good :D Thanks for taking the time to make the video and send us the vibes.
Awesome, video Mike, lovely drone shots, I imagine a day when you'll have an undercar camera shot that's actually the drone flying in the gap between the jeep and the road and then it exits and moves out to a long Ariel shot. Also, congrats on the fly rod and achieving the 10 psi. Samantha must feel as firm as Brigette Nelson in Rocky IV
If there is one thingi learned from fly fishing is to fish the bottom and that the fishes diet is moslty sub surface . Bead head flies and nymphs and chronomids. Thats for trout anyway.i dont have perch pike in my area .
Thanks for watching and for the comment. It's called a muurikka which are common here in Sweden. I've welded some eyes under the wok so I can hang an msr stove on it. When I hike and backpack I unclip the stove and carry it in the pack. Its a nice versatile system but the stove is quite pricy initially. It's called an msr whisperlite universal.

As always brilliant content. Not that bad if you go with any catch on fly rod :) guy who was my trainer on casting was on a two weeks trip in Alaska and caught on fish.
Hey Mike, glad to see another video. When I see your videos, it makes it feel like everything in the world will turn out alright. Thank you. Edit: reached out on Instagram brother.
to kill the fish, you put your thumb in is mouth and crack the neck ? is that what i saw?😂

That key check before closing the rear door. Locking myself out of my Jeep in the woods is what my nightmares are made of.
Fun fishing, Mike. I recommend a pee bottle for the tent. Just don't use it over your pillow.
Workshop to Wilderness, I dig the name change. Nice trip mate, thanks for sharing!

Keep up the good work.
Do they not sell Yorkshire Gold tea in Sweden?
Thanks for another great video Mike!
Do you have a shipping address?

I noticed you were casting with your wrist. It should be more of a full arm movement with a flick of the wrist at the extremes of your stroke.
Thanks mate, next time I will adjust my cast and see how it goes 👍
