I’ve been watching so many of your videos. This is the one I needed. My last 2 dogs I adopted already knew everything. But we just got a big pup that really likes to be in our space. He’s in desperate need of the basics and I had no clue where to start. Thanks, such a big fan.

I’ve always been able to train my dogs, had different breeds, staffy, staffy cross, pit bull, jack Russel and they always listened, I’ve recently rehomed an amazing lurcher, he’s from a shelter and isn’t quite 2 yet and I’ve had him a few months and she’s settled right in. When training in the house he picks up what I want from him pretty quickly, his a smart dog but…. As soon as we’re outside he’s VERY distracted and will not recall if he see another dog to go say hi to. It’s so embarrassing when he just runs off paying no attention and I can’t chase him because then he thinks it’s a game. He’s super friendly, but I worry one day he’s going to run to greet another dog that’s not so social.
When the dog is so well trained that saying "by teaching you the sit command..." the dog sits😂

This is what I try and tell my husband!! The height of the treats is important and training is not a just 1 days thing. It took me months to train my husky to go out and do his stuff in 1 place and come back inside his cage. Sitting is still in progress but isn't that hard. Also he doesn't understand I need to tire him out a hit 1st
I feed my dog raw. What kind of treats do you suggest Augusto? By the way you have mastered your craft at an early age. Your documentary was great too.

I wish there were more videos showing how to train a very small dog as a puppy. Ones that r under 5lbs w tiny stomachs, yet very food motivated.. lots of energy but also very smart. I feel lk these little dogs don't get as much attention in this aspect. Their still k9s not assessories, ya kno

I never had a problem teaching a dog the down command until I got a Dachshund.
How do you bring the dog down to ground level when it is already at ground level?

Dog daddy I have an issue with a 2 yr old full bred Shepard who won't stop jumping up on me and terrorizes my other half bred Shepard however does real well when I'm walking her. I need help with her at my house please.
My gsd is doing down with lure even without treat now just the Lowering of hand but it has been a week I tried to introduce the voice command but doesn't seem get it

Keep training with the hand signal and each time you do it say “(your dogs name) and then the command. Keep at it for multiple training sessions patience is key

Can you show how to assert yourself as alpha and how to keep your dogs focused on you? I have a 9 week German shepherd female who just doesn't listen at times.
Outdated BS. Google David Mech, how he revised that. You don't need to 'assert' yourself as 'alpha'. Of course a 9 week old isn't going to be automatically engaged, it's a baby. Use treats, and tugs, and make yourself fun, and reinforce giving attention. Look up Michael Ellis engagement on YT.
