They don’t and the cycle continues until someone realizes that they can change it. When you grow up in chaos you’re accustomed to it and we subconsciously seek out similar people because it’s comfortable.

Mark, I was the one who commented on a video a while ago suggesting that you start asking people “What is your greatest strength?”. Every time I hear you ask it in an interview I want to tear up. I am so grateful you saw that comment and now I hear you ask it in quite a few interviews. Some interviewees answer very quickly, some take a pause, but there is something so powerful having people talk through what makes them proud of themselves. Faith mentioned her stubbornness, and I truly believe that will play a huge part in her discovering sobriety and a happy, successful life with her son.
What a great suggestion to make! I'm glad Mark is using it too. I like how it empowers the interviewee, who most of the times is a person down on their luck. Thank you!
Its a really great question. I agree with ehat you guys said. Its a great counterbalance to the questions about theie greatest fears and their traumas. What are some other "positive" questions he coule ask?
I work in a child and adolescent psychiatric crisis unit at a hospital in my city. Every single child/teenager that comes to my floor is a victim of some sort of trauma. The issue is, if it isn’t addressed when they are young, it will augment/fester and persist into adulthood. It’s almost like a disease: trauma can lay dormant for years, maybe even decades, but it will always surface and manifest. Many of these kids are victims of a toxic home environment as well. We do our best to mitigate the potential for kids to experience what she is going through in adulthood.. early intervention is so important.
My daughter was 4 when her dad died by suicide. He and I were together and the only family she had ever known. Things were good but not ideal up until she was 14-15. She started hearing voices and was diagnosed with what I think they now call schizoaffective bipolar(?), and wiith it came anorexia. Thank God she never did street drugs, and thank God the police always took her to the hospital, not jail. She was gone from herself for ten years, and I was prepared for the possibility that I might never get my daughter back. Last year, she was committed to a psychiatric hospital, and I thought that was it. I have often criticized the system we have, but somebody sent her to a new facility in Indianpolis called Neurological Diagnostic Institute, where she lived for two months. The website says they specialize in treating early childhood trauma, using a variety of therapies and treatments. I do not know what they did specifically, but my daughter is well again at 25 years old. I almost struggle to believe it, but it is true. She is still on meds, but she went from 80 pounds to a healthy 136. She had to have all her teeth removed, or what was left of them, and now wears a full set of dentures that are beautiful when she smiles! I am so grateful for her wellness that I tell everyone with any interest about the NDI state psychiatric hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Maybe, just maybe, they can help others get back to living a more enjoyable and manageable life. Thank you for the work you do. Cheers!
@@SourceAwryT Thank you so much for this comment. I am sorry to hear what your family has gone through and happy to hear that your daughter is doing so much better! These are the outcomes that we hope for at work, and it’s always reassuring to hear anecdotes of successful outcomes. We have a similar situation at our hospital; the police often bring in kids and teenagers with hopes of keeping them out of the criminal justice system. They are making an honest effort not to simply render kids going through crisis’ as juvenile delinquents. Thanks again for the comment; so happy to hear that your daughter is doing well. Please give her my best.
Give them handful of prescriptions and comatose them is not rehabilitation. That's what they do across the states and it's not helping. Pills don't cure anything. It's a bandaid and 90% of workers don't say a thing. To busy on there phones and have zero clue why most patients are drooling on themselves instead of getting help from there fellow humans who took classes for the illness of depression and addiction
My father died when i was 15, very quickly out of nowhere. It was trauma that was never addressed, and at 44 im still having problems from it. I believe getting the right treatment as early as possible is the only fix, like the OP here said.
Faith if you read this, you are still young ,and a beautiful lady. Don't let being only 25 make you put off getting whatever you need to get your social security number and whatever else you need to get yourself into rehab and straight. You said you aren't 40 and you think it would be too late then. Before you know it, you will be 40. One thing I never experienced was how fast time actually goes by until I had my son. Almost 13 years have went by since he was born and it happened so quickly. Do what you need to do to get your son back in a stable home. I've was addicted to pain pills for 7 years, and I'm clean today and have been for 9 years.
So true- our kids grow up and then suddenly he's not the toddler or child you remember as if it were yesterday. The high school years go by even faster. My son is 30! It feels like I am on a freight train. Life keeps going faster and faster and I really want it to slow the heck down now! lol
@@Putzy5214agreed. She knows right from wrong. She could get clean but she’s weak minded/an addict. She had an opportunity with her baby daddy and messed that up

All of this is just your impression of her. I've worked with this population, and her mannerisms aren't indicating that. Pay attention -- lots of excuses.
2:09 I recognize this, getting out of breath when telling about a traumatic past. You cannot go into details because it's too painful, so you just skim the whole story over quickly so you don't have to feel too much ♥ She's very smart and brave! She has a beautiful light. Don't lose your light! ♥

Wait... she stated early on that she likes doing drugs; got kicked out of the hospital for doing drugs, yet then stated that she's not homeless because of drugs. Faith, your initial homelessness might not of been caused by drug use however it is most certainly keeping you homeless now. You stated wanting to get clean, in-part for your son. You also stated that you're stubborn. Put all that stubbornness against your addiction, and fight like hell for sobriety. There's an army of people rooting for you to take that first scary step. Hey Mark, Please help this young lady 🙏🏼💖 I think that with the right support and resources she could turn her life around. Take care if yourself beautiful soul ✨✨✨
It makes me sad that her answer to being bounced around foster homes was that she, “was a hard child to raise”. How heartbreaking to take that on one’s self.
Faith, I have never rooted for someone as much as I am rooting for you. You have so much potential coupled with being physically beautiful . I believe you will find your place. You will get your son back and be able to love him in spite of never being loved yourself. Please take care of yourself. You are here for a special reason and you must find what that is. I will keep you and your little boy in my prayers.
Mark, these are the people that truly need help and should be offered rehabilitation at a dual diagnosis facility. Then transferred into a sober living house afterwards where they can be taught to become independent while living sober. I truly hope she is offered resources.
Yes I agree she needs and deserves help. I think she needs help with getting her documents, sobriety and a sober living house. Also healthy food and activities. Therapy and access to getting her GED and than getting a skill and maybe college as well
Almost shed tears when she talked about her biggest regret. Sending love to you Faith, you got this. Drugs will only push you towards your biggest fear. ❤
This young woman has been thru so much and she still exudes some light and joy. I think she is a human being who would respond well to rehab and some loving kindness. Faith, I see your value.

This woman has been given nothing, has been horribly abused and abandoned, and how does she sum up her philosophy? “Love conquers all.” She was trying to raise her siblings and care for dying grandparents while she was still a child herself. She was mature enough to put her son in the best situation available for him. I am gobsmacked and in tears. Please try and find some resources to help Faith, Mark. You do so much good work. Also want to say something: myself needed a lot rehab start-ups but never stayed for long. One morning I woke up, it was the most amazing weather and outside the window were little birds eating... In this perfect god given moment I couldn't enjoy trying so hard and realized NO OTHER CAN FIX IT OR IS TO BLAME !!! That was my start as a Phoenix... There's hope but do it for yourself 🙏

I would love to help this girl - she wants help! As far as her grandparents - I TOTALLY BELIEVE HER - OMG this interview touched me so much!
Thank you for sharing this. So many people fall into addiction after an injury or experiencing real pain. I understand she tried drugs for the first time with her mom for all the wrong reasons. However, trying to survived through excruciating physical pain each day is unbearable. Some people truly have no idea, and they are lucky!

This one got me. Grown man balling watching this. 😢I was abused and have some trauma from my childhood so i can relate to a point but nothing like what she has had to endure. I find abuse against little girls especially heinous. Makes me extra mad and sad at the same time. I really hope she can catch a break and get some help to deal with the trauma. I was given pain meds for my back and legs when I was 30 due to a military injury. I didn't know how bad they were until 20 later when they stopped prescrbing them. I couldn't get off the floor because I hurt so bad, more from the withdrawal than my actual leg and back pain. It sent me down a bad road, lost everything trying to overcome what I had become. Im off of everything now for over two years, it was a hard road. God gave me the strength to overcome it all, now my life is good again. Now just trying to rebuild everything I lost, but know its just going to get better. You can do the same, just keep trying and never give up on you.
I thought I was pissed off at my dad for walking out the door and just simply not coming back he was also murdered but this girls pain is on another level! I really hope she gets a chance at life and getting her son back.
Please tell her to go to a Social security office and see if they can help her get her Social security number. Or go to the last school or any of the places she was put. They all will have her SS#. At least then she can get medical insurance, food stamps. Maybe an apartment voucher. Go talk to the judge she wrote the letter to. He would have it as well. At least so she can get her son back in her life. If not daily, maybe weekly. Girlie if you are stubborn like you said, go after getting your social security number please. At least for benefits.
Agree. While we can always work on healing, thetes a cumulative effect with trauma. If you can help someone earlier it's always better.
Life keeps going faster and faster and I really want it to slow the heck down now! lol
25 to 40 is only 15 years... seems like a lot but time flies
Chronologically she’s 25 but mentally and emotionally she’s still a little girl. I pray she gets help 🙏🌹
Me too.
That is not the feeling I got at all.
@@Putzy5214agreed. She knows right from wrong. She could get clean but she’s weak minded/an addict. She had an opportunity with her baby daddy and messed that up
It seems like almost all addicts are stunted emotionally, and have the personality of a child.
She is defenitly not a little girl.
Congratulations honey and keep up the good work. I'm 4.5 years clean and sober and I love my life so much now. Get clean honey you will love your life. Your such a beautiful woman
Proud of you! ❤️
She's like a sweet & delicate flower hardened by inexplicably tragic circumstances.. wish her all the best ❤️
😐
She reminds me of the flower that grows through cement. There’s hope for her.
@@gailmendez5465yes👍
Yes, she’s just a delicate woman who has such infortunate circumstances, it’s so sad …
This is the type of person who would really use any help you offered her.
Make some calls Mark, use your resources to help this girl! She wants to make a change!
I agree she needs Help and she had it I believe she would be grateful and turn her life around
Doubt mark has the energy for that anymore. He got burned out by the one hooker then the Whitakers
Yes please help her.. not "Rebecca" He just dont give two fucks.............Obviously
This poor girl just broke my heart. She is so lost and needs so much guidance and someone genuine to give it to her. Please help her get documents so she has a chance to get her life together.
She has a beautiful and an innocent smile. I hope she recovers.
She seems like truly a wonderful person. Genuine. Honest. Kind. And I don’t say that often. She deserves so much. Wishing her the best in things turning a corner and life getting better for her
🖤🌺🖤
All of this is just your impression of her. I've worked with this population, and her mannerisms aren't indicating that. Pay attention -- lots of excuses.
2:09 I recognize this, getting out of breath when telling about a traumatic past. You cannot go into details because it's too painful, so you just skim the whole story over quickly so you don't have to feel too much ♥ She's very smart and brave! She has a beautiful light. Don't lose your light! ♥
Yes I agree. I know this too well
Mark, please help Faith with a social worker. Thank you for all you do, Mark.
Please do what you can for her Mark, she deserves this chance to get back on her feet. She's got too much light and love left in her to give up
Do you have friends?
"I have... I have.. I don't have friends. I just have people that I know"
Man. This one hit me different because she both reminds me of somebody I know as well as you can absolute see her in a healthy lifestyle and happy but her situation is pulling her down.
I really hope she finds whatever it is she needs to pull herself out of this hell 💙
She won't.
@@GhostGreen-b6m She could, it could take everything she has and 20 years down the line or it could take a single moment of clarity, a single person...I did and I don't think i'm half as self-aware or socially adapt as she is. I think XxShadow's comment was great, I think yours is unnecessary (probably just egotistical).
Addiction kills everything. 😔
If she's doing fentanyl she is definitely rolling the dice with her life.
@@jasondaniels640 I'm proud of you for getting clean and gifting yourself a better life. Don't sell yourself short, you're amazing 💙 The person with the "She won't" comment is just a sad little thing who's apparently so miserable they see no hope in anybody. Thankfully though, their opinion means little and all it takes, like you said, is a moment of clarity or a long time of hard work. I think she can do it, and I really hope she does. God bless you, Jason💙
Wait... she stated early on that she likes doing drugs; got kicked out of the hospital for doing drugs, yet then stated that she's not homeless because of drugs. Your future is waiting. Stay strong. Be well. 🦋
This one really affected me. I seriously hope someone helps this girl before she see’s no hope or a purposeful future. I also hope she can find a friend, boyfriend, whatever to show her and let her feel compassion and kindness, because her parents certainly didn’t. Hang in their Faith. You are a beautiful, talented young woman.
Wow she said she is an artist and paints and resells used clothes, girl is a shining light. Do not sell your body. You have dignity and self worth
Hey Mark, Please help this young lady 🙏🏼💖 I think that with the right support and resources she could turn her life around. Take care if yourself beautiful soul ✨✨✨
She could definitely make it out. She still has light in her.
It makes me sad that her answer to being bounced around foster homes was that she, “was a hard child to raise”. How heartbreaking to take that on one’s self.
It is heartbreaking. I bet she was told that over and over and over. Usually the way it goes.
Poor girl. Breaks my heart. I hope she can get better and heal.
Therapy and access to getting her GED and than getting a skill and maybe college as well
This absolutely broke my heart❤. I hope nothing but the best for this young lady!!
I feel so sorry for her... I wish her to overcome addiction...
Yeah she is nice. Breaks my heart
It breaks my heart so much when they repeat the abandonment they experienced in their childhood with their own children. She's such a beautiful strong soul I hope she gets the help she needs
out of all of the interviews, i've watched on your channel this one touched me the most she is genuine about her pain and hope
Faith, don’t give up. You’re young and can overcome these challenges.
Wow! Another heartbreaking 💔 story. I hope she gets the help that she needs to get sober. She is still so young. She has alot of living to do. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊
This was my hardest watch on this channel. I wish her the best.
I've been hooked on your channel for years Mark. Thank you. Faith, your story, strength and attitude has touched and taught me in ways unimaginable. I am 55 years old. I want to be you when I grow up. Love does conquer all! You got this! You are unforgettable! We believe in YOU! Sending my love to you!
This has to be one of the saddest stories I’ve heard 😢 faith, I hope you get the help you need. You are a survivor. ❤
This one hit hard. 😢
She has a beautiful spirit and I can’t tell she is beautiful inside and out. Sending her so much love and light ✨
My heart goes out to Faith. She still has that spark in her eye, and a loving heart. i fear that if she stays on the street too long that spark will fade, and she will become jaded.
You really deserve someone who loves you so much that you cannot help but to love yourself in return.
She said her mom was co dependent on drugs and her step dad
It's worth noting that love and relationships can be just as addictive as drugs
its true, my mother was addicted to love when we were kids
People be grateful for your life if its good. This poor girl has had many struggles and deserves a chance for a good life. I hope she finds it soon.
Mark can you please as much effort in her as you do Rebecca? She can land on her feet, please!
That would be SMART! Get her her ss# get her in detox then follow through by helping her get her ged and a job!
@little-miss-happy she can definitely turn it around. She Just needs a good support system. Also she's going to need to some deep therapy but I definitely have a feeling she can get on the right path
You won't ever regret taking care of your grandparents. Your son is woth getting it together for. All this craziness will help you in your path.❤❤❤
Faith, I watched your video months ago and still think of and pray for you so much. If you ever want to get out and start over in Alabama, you are welcome here❤
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Faith... Faith, you're still young, pls don't waste your life like I did. I've wasted 35 years on a life whose sole purpose for living was to stay doped up, it's not worth it... I'm not trying to sell you beachfront property in Alaska, I just hate to see you go through the same & look back with so much regret... Thank you, Mark....💚👣
We would donate. This person needs a chance to have a chance.
Love you sister. Will pray for your recovery and your reunion with your son. End the cycle sis - you have it in you.
So your purpose in life is to be a critic. Got it.

Shut up!
When she said shes afraid of dying in the streets cause no one would know or remember … it absolutely broke my heart. I have hope and pray for you sweet girl. You deserve more, you still have time. ❤
I just wanna hug this little girl like a mama. I PRAY GOD YOU WRAP HER UP. bless her heart. I feel her pain, I wish I could help her SO BAD. such beauty and talent brushed to the side. God I wanna share my story one time. I've never gotten too cuz my family won't deal with it. Everything is my fault. Pain and struggle is like hot tea. And a blanket. It's an awful life living in my head. Scared of normalcy.
Prayers. I am bawling. She shattered my heart
I lost a son. I have severe BPD. I live in ideation. Letters and all. Fought addiction, molested, five dad's, no funerals, no closure, millionaire dad to addict mom.. I don't know me at forty eight. I'm AA people pleasing PHYSCO and if people only knew my thoughts, I Polly wouldn't walk free but. I try to fit in
Of all the interviews I’ve see you do, this girl deserves help the most.🙏
Also want to say something: myself needed a lot rehab start-ups but never stayed for long.
She needs help! I can relate to her as far as the Sciatic Pain - I had that in February and I could not even walk. I slept in a chair for 2 weeks. Nothing would take that pain away. It was hell!!!
Mark, thanks for giving people the chance to be seen and heard. So important! 🙏
I'm sure you've been asked many times already, but are you able to follow up on those you've interviewed, who've managed to make it off the streets and thrive?
✌️🙏✌️🙏
She is so sweet and tenderhearted. I just wanted to give her a big hug. I will pray for her and her son to have a wonderful future together. I hope somebody will step up and help her.❤
thank you for sharing this story, this thing often happens with good people, with kind heart...
Faith, if you're able to read these comments; please notice how many of us are rooting for you. No shame in reaching out for help to get you on your feet. Give yourself three months to begin the healing process. If you don't think recovery is working, you can always go back to how you're living now. The misery will be refunded to you. Much love to you and your child!
Please help Faith. She needs to get off the streets asap before her situation gets worse. Sending positive energy to you, Faith.
Such a beautiful girl, I truly wish her all the best. God please protect her.
Faith,
That's my Grand daughter's name too....please believe in yourself.
I left home at 15...I know what it's like not to have a home. I didn't believe in myself...I lived pillar to post for years. Instead of getting a pimp, I married the 1st time just turned 17. I walked in your shoes, not even getting my driver's license until I was 28 because I didn't think I could pass the test. Get away from the life you are living ..people included. Wean yourself off the Fentanyl. I did it, so can you..clean since 2019..and I was under doctor care for 10 years on that poison!!!. I am 67 and almost done with my high school education. I graduate in September. You are just beginning your life. Take the right steps. Make small goals, and complete them one day at a time. Celebrate every win!
Without some type of therapy it's hard to make good health decisions and not fall into self destructive things. I'm rooting for her. ♥️♥️
Mark, If there is anyone you should help- it’s this girl.
I’ve watched so many of these and have never commented, but Faith, I hope life turns around for you and you get the joy you deserve ❤️
Has a very strong story telling voice.....❤
Thinking of you, Faith. The world is so big. I relate to a lot of your feelings; you are heard. I’m all the way across the country from you. Many, many people have now heard your story, Faith. You have so many more people now, who are going to keep you in their hearts. Sending you all my hugs and love 💕
This dear sweet girl really needs some mothering, someone to intercede on her behalf. She’s a diamond in the rough. She has so much potential.
So true!
What a heartbreaking story. I hope she makes it out and back to being healthy. She seems to have such a sweet spirit.
Good for you congratulations.... you got this! 👍 🙏
You are not alone. Best wishes as you rebuild. You’ll get there.
God bless you and keep you safe!😇💋♥️🙏
Oh god I’m in tears she just needs the right person to come offer her help I truley believe she’d take it knowing she wouldn’t b in pain getting clean and having help getting her straightened out sweet faith I’m praying for you I got clean 8 years ago but if you asked me a day before I decided I’d told you no way I was never getting clean it’s very hard but can be done 100 percent ❤
Your name is Faith for a reason.. Keep the faith
This poor girl, she's been through so much. I pray to God she gets help. What a beautiful soul she is
This shouldn't happen ever to anyone.
poor poor girl. i see she has a strong character and unique personality, very intelligent too. she has so much hope and restoration in her future ❤
How can people fathom taking birth control away from young girls on drugs who aren’t making the best decisions.
Thats what your focus is here? You think birth control will help straighten out her life? That's the cure all? Make political statements somewhere else
Oh, I took care of someone's kids who she couldn't have kids anymore. The state paid for her to get her tubes untied not only did she have one other child but another child and no she does not have custody of her kids.
The system wants to keep people in poverty, that's why
👏👏👏👏
Who’s taking away birth control?
I just want to give her a hug. Poor baby. She deserves all the love and support she can get.
1 minute in and I just want to hug this poor girl
11:00 Faith says that she's terrified of detoxing. She says that the fentanyl withdrawals can kill you, While it is true that you can die from the withdrawals, this is mainly due to dehydration. You're loosing tons of H20 from sweating and diarrhea, (Mainly diarrhea) is what can kill you.
**Make sure to stay hydrated, friends!
The seizures can kill you too. It’s not just dehydration.
Severe flu like symptoms that will lead to dehydration which will lead to heart failure
I cried with you, Faith. Hope you get out of this. I believe in you & I bet your son does too. Imagine how loved & proud he'll be when you make it back to him X
Faith you are so wise and beautiful.. keep pushing through.. I pray you get to reunite with your son ..
Watching these videos I always have compassion. No matter what the persons story is, I try to understand and remain without judgment. I always wish I had the power to help them…a magic wand to just make it better.
This young lady has hit me in a more personal way. Whether it be her honesty, her compassion or her kind heart.
I hope that she finds a way off the street because she would be a great role model for many people especially young women.
Faith please do whatever you can to get off fentanyl. As you get older it only gets so much harder to stop. You deserve better and your son does too. Don't wait! Do it now. Years go by faster than you think. No one WANTS to experience quitting their drug of choice- if you wait until it feels like the right time, I hate to say it, but it's never the right time especially later. Now is the right time. Look forward not back. Stay in now always. You now have thousands praying for you. Feel the love.
I’m going to be 40 in 5 days, n I’ve been in recovery (seriously) for the past 3 years where I’ve been SOBER. Been trying for longer. I hated to hear her say that if she was old, 40, that she would give up. 40 is not old, I wish I would’ve seen the light sooner, but I am so blessed with my daughters n husband. I hope that she gets the help she deserves, that way she has the CHANCE that she was nerve given✨🫶🩵

You weren’t a child who was hard to take care of. You were struggling hard to establish the kind of independence that you were going to need. You knew you were going to need it and you were struggling hard to establish it.
That is not a problem child. That is a good, sensible child with a problem set of circumstances she did not create!
Faith, you’re a beautiful person. I’m so sorry your life has been so hard and that you were not protected by the people closest to you. You have endured and survived through all of this because you’re strong. Don’t give up on yourself, don’t give up on your son, even though things feel low right now you can still turn everything around. This life and this journey is your choice. You can be the Mom and the person you dream to become. Lean into this pain and learn from it, make those difficult choices that are going to put you on the path that brings you the safety and peace you deserve. You can break the cycle, you can give your son the love you always needed and you can be the mother to him that you always needed, and in doing so you will begin to heal the wounded child within.
I believe in you Faith💜
I’m sending you a big hug and lots of love for the journey ahead, you got this and you’re not alone.
