  • Want to bottle up that great flavor of summer raspberries? I’ve got an easy raspberry freezer jam recipe.
    Even if you’ve never made jam before with this video tutorial, I’ll show you just how easy it is. It’s not just for toast either.
    This raspberry freezer jam recipe can be used as a filling for cakes and even on top of ice cream. It’s especially good on top of homemade ice cream. Yum!

    Excellent. I use this every summer, and always watch this reminder. Thanks so much!

    Thank you. The Publix grocery near me used to carry freezer jam, but discontinued carrying it.

    Nice "refresher" video. A few months back a friend had me over to participate/learn how to make freezer jam. We picked berries and then made freezer jam in her kitchen. It was EXACTLY (I mean exactly) like your tutorial. I had taken notes but to see it again is so helpful! Thank you.

    I've been making the jam for years and years, it's the only jam I make. I figure your only using a teaspoon or so on your jam or peanutbutter sandwich as far as sugar goes. I also add it to my homemade yogurt just enough to sweeten it, and it's delicious!

      Yes we only use a very small amount of jam. But you are right it is so good in homemade yogurt.

    So my gritty jelly didn't set but I was resolved to get it right. I tossed the old jelly and made a new batch today. I can't be sure yet but I'm 80% sure my problem was that I didn't do the pectin part right. I'm pretty sure the new batch that's on my counter now will be wonderful! Totally excited to pair my jelly to my homemade nut butters. 😁

    Maybe Im missing something.....I just wanted directions for raspberry freezer jam. Ive made it for years and really didnt want this video and just needed to know how much water to dilute the pectin. Sure wish the receipe was still in the box!

    Two questions: 1) Do you think this would work with frozen raspberries? 2) How long does this keep for when out of the freezer?

      Phoebe, yes this will work with frozen raspberries. I've made it with thawed frozen raspberries before. We use our freezer jam up in about 3 weeks so it keeps that long once thawed in the refrigerator. I hope that helps.

      @@frugalfamilyhome thanks for your reply! That totally helps. Can't wait to try this!

    Would the recipe still work if I used less sugar? What's the minimum one needs for it to jell up like jam?

    • @frugalfamilyhome
      @frugalfamilyhome  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can reduce the sugar but you'll need to use the low sugar pectin to make sure it turns out. I hope that helps.

    can you allow the pectin to cool to keep it fully raw?

    My jelly is still gritty, what did I do wrong?

    • @frugalfamilyhome
      @frugalfamilyhome  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, it sounds like the sugar didn't quite get dissolved. After adding the pectin, you need to stir for about 3 minutes. I usually set a timer and then feel the back of the spoon to make sure I don't feel any sugar. I hope that helps.

    I wouldn't recommend adding that much sugar
