      You’re teaching people wrong your feet are supposed to be about six more inches forward when you use the Smith machine you don’t keep your feet right under you when u use the smith machine that’s incorrect

      A personal trainer told me years ago that the angle on the smith machine means you need to place your feet differently, but I can’t remember exactly how. Do you know anything about this?

    Been going to the gym consistently for 6 months and have never squatted the bar because I was afraid to do it infront of people , but today is the day ! Thank you for the video ❤️

      Free advice: try to go when is less busy I don’t know what makes you uncomfortable but if is the crowd that will be the best idea now if is because you don’t want people staring at your butt wear a sweater around your waist! Everything has a solution except dead!!

      I am a pretty fit guy and have gotten compliments from about 8ppl on my physique and I am also intimidated by squatting on the Smith machine lmao

    As a very new weight lifter, I have recently started using the Smith Machine and have been making meaning of the mistakes demonstrated in the video.     I finally gave squatting and other gym equipment a try because of your vids! You have no idea how helpful this is for us newbies who really want to work out, but have to work up our nerve (actually, I'm sure you DO know haha). The gym has give me so much more confidence.     Omg this is so bad ass! I love this. I have been going to the gym for a couple months now. This whole time I’m thinking I’m using the smith machine correct but I was always dealing with neck pain ! Now I know why! Omg 🙏🏼🤩

      That is the wrong technique. The body should not lean forward. The way she is doing it is excellent for the hips

    Thanks for showing us this videos sometimes going to the gym can be very intimidating. Im always wondering if im using the machines the correct way and it dont help when people just stares at you like a weirdo😅😅

    I’m new at the gym so didn’t know how to properly squat I was doing it wrong so naturally i got bad knee pain for a few weeks off & on I was so scared to go back into doing squats on the smith machine not wanting the same thing to happen but now after watching your video I feel confident to get right back into it thank you for such a great informative video!!

      Do you’ve to adjust the weights in the smith machine, I mean do the weights fall off somehow ? Because I really wanna try this in my gym but I’m bad at controlling the weights so they keep falling off

    I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

    Thank god you made these videos. I’ve been going to the the gym for a while but always get intimate when I look over to these machines. Since a lot, a lot of guys normally around it, and since I don’t know how to set it up I just roll my eyes at it. But now I’m definitely gonna go give it a try. I’m happy I watched this. Plus I didn’t even know the name of the machines 😭😭 next week at the gym should be much better

    Hi Naomi. I really enjoyed your video learning how to squat with the correct form. I am 74 and try to keep fit. Before covid, I tried the Smith machine and today in the gym tried again, like some comments below I felt awkward. After watching you I will hopefully feel easier. The problem I have is knowing how far to bend over. Some people say to squat straight down, That is very hard. Thanks CS

    Started my gym journey in August! As of recently I’ve been more comfortable with using the smith machine for squats. I’ve been struggling to get my form right, but I’m not maintaining a neutral spine. This video helped tremendously!

    Excellent video, just what I was looking for me noob Smith Machine squats. QUICK TIP to automatically get alignment and form correct for pretty much everyone. Just like Naomi, line up the heel area of each shoe adjacent to each nearby vertical guide rail (in addition to feet angled slightly outward and shoulder width apart).

    Very very nice. As a certified trainer, this is one of the most technical exercises to teach. I usually teach proper form using body weight, and then move on to the smith machine, before moving on to the free squat rack. Keep up the great content.

    Had piece of humble pie yesterday asking for extra plates from the rack in use next to me. Even tho i was repping 245 the week before this time i only got it repped out 5 outta 10 times had go back to down to 185 to complete my set but thanks to this video i can get my form right to get back up there

    Something I never understood is why almost every person in my gym puts the feet a little in the front (and it's like falling back on the bar,almost like sitting on a sofa), and I could never actually do it because I was afraid I would fall. This video shows completely other way which I did in the beginning but I thought it was the wrong way. Thank you!

    thank you so much for this!! before corona hit, i would go to the gym every single day and using the smith machine was one of the things i wanted to do so bad but always felt super intimidated by. i'm starting to slowly make my way back to working out and want to finally try using the smith and this video is a LIFE SAVER

    Very detailed video! Just wanted to get your opinions, if any, on the idea that the smith machine squat is a "less ideal" version of the squat considering the fixed motion of the track compared to the natural movement involved in a free-weight squat.     I finally tried this machine today!!! After years of being intimidated by it !! . Only thing was my arms were kinda sore after ??? I kinda felt like I wasn’t sure were to put my arms lol . I’m gonna watch this video a couple more times but thank you for this video 💘

    I’ve never went on here to look for gym workouts etc but i was given your name to look into by someone on Instagram, I’ve just came across this video and i was taught by a PT on the smith machine to have my feet much far forward that i was leaning back on the bar…and I’m currently struggling with knee pain now that I’m going solo and trying to squat without the smithy machine 😭 my leg day is tomorrow, I’ve watched a few of your videos and feel confident to improve my form, i only get knee pain with barbell squats. Fingers crossed 🙏🏻

    This is soo helpful, thank you!! I just recently started using the Smith machine for squats and reverse lunges. I have found my shoulder gets very uncomfortable when coming out of the squat. Now that I'm watching this, I wonder if my feet were positioned too far forward
